Neptune 4.0 Cu. Ft. Large Capacity Compact Electric Dryer

Compact in size -- not capacity. The stackable MDE2400 dryer saves space on the outside, measuring just 23-1/2 in. wide, 23-3/4 in. deep and 34 in. high (with 7/8 in. adjustable leveling legs). But inside, it easily handles everyday-sized loads: its large 3.7 cu. ft. capacity can hold up to 16 bath towels. The GentleBreeze drying system uses powerful airflow and lower temperatures for fast, gentle care. Front panel electronic controls make it easy to select cycles, including Wrinkle Release, Air Fluff, Damp Dry and Time Dry -- or activate the AutoDry sensor and the dryer will stop when clothes reach the right level of dryness. Inside, the stainless steel dryer drum is gentle on clothes, but stands up to wear for a lifetime of use. Even the door is designed for easy use: it's reversible to accommodate a variety of installation options. The QuietSeries 300 sound package reduces noise levels. And for peace of mind, every Maytag dryer is protected by the Maytag Dependable Performance Wa

"Insufficient manual control. Inefficient to completely ineffective drying. Broke down after three months. Wouldn't touch another Maytag product with a 10ft. barge-pole"

Good Dryer, Compact Footprint,
November 18, 2009
By DC007

"My wife and I really did not have a choice when it came to purchasing a dryer (and washer) that would actually fit into our basement. As it is, we had to have a door and part of a wall removed to have the old dryer (and washer)removed. This dryer fit, works well, and given its size, is a great fit for our needs. The capacity was sufficient to dry a queen sized down comfortor, which we had washed in our Neptune washer. It worked great and meets our needs. Drying times do tend to be a bit longer than what I'm accustomed to (with gas dryers), but I have no complaints.
Bottom line: If you have limited space (either through a door or the actual location) your options are limited, and this product may fit the bill, though it is expensive."

nice unit,

"This is a nice, compact unit for apartment dwellers or anyone that only has a limited space. I installed this along with the Maytag Neptune washer and have really enjoyed them for the last couple of weeks. They are simple to use, clean clothes very well ... and actually look kind-of cute in my small closet.
The dryer definitely has more room than the washer but is a nice size for 1 - 2 people. It gets my clothes dry without wrinkling or overheating them. The lint filter is easy to access and clean.

Small Maytag Dryer,
January 5, 2009
By NCBuyer

"Works well. Only had a small closet for a stackable unit and the Maytag pair is GREAT! After some leveling problems, I am very happy. Installation contractors were wonderful to work with, as was Home Depot. Not cheap, but worth the $. Better than a cheap stacked unit. Both are small, but for one or two people they are perfect. Don't expect to wash/dry your blankets or quilts! Too small. Well made & sturdy. If you have a tiny space, I would highly recommend these small Maytags. I live in the south, so hang out the wash a lot. The dryer is good, but not perfect. I tend to dry only towels or jeans in it - better for my electric bill anyhow."

Worst Dryer Ever,
December 10, 2007
By realaud

"This dryer does not dry efficiently and I am still trying to determine whether the unit is defective or it's just a crummy machine. It takes over 3 hours to dry a small load of normal weight material. The back of the dryer gets blazing hot and the internal temperature of the dryer seems to be very cool. If it is not defective, it is a serious energy waster. I can't wait to see my electric bill for the month after running several loads."

Maytag Neptune washer and gas dryer,
June 19, 2006
By Renee
from Texas
"I bought my Maytag Neptune washer and dryer about 4 years ago. I bought it because of the front load and energy features. I have to admit my clothes do not fade like they use to do, and the condition of our clothes have lasted longer than ever before.Having both a neptune washer and dryer I just lean forward to put one load to the other machine since they are both front loaders verses standing and then bending over from washer to dryer. I also like the fact it doesn't take alot of detergent to wash clothes. The front load neptune washer and dryer is a real breeze to use and being a Maytag product that alone gives it my highest mark. I have not had one problem with either machine. For the money its worth it. The name stands for itself and the savings are great on the monthly utility bill."
