Customer reviews for 2.1 cu. ft. Front Load Washer in White

2.1 cu. ft. Front Load Washer in White

Small spaces call for smart washers, and this compact front load washer fits the bill perfectly. Plus, 10 custom cycles and five temperature settings in this high-efficiency model let you control how you wash everything from jeans to delicates. The wide door makes it easy to move large loads in and out, and you won't have to worry about the self-cleaning lint filter system. Easy-to-use controls include automatic temperature control, IntelliFill automatic water level sensor, and a delay start. And even though it fits in a smaller space, this model boasts 2.1 cu. ft. capacity. Turns out good things do come in small packages.

I purchased a model number MAH2400AWW washer on 6/21/11. When I got it home, not only did the door not open, but water exploded all over the floor when I tried to run a cycle. When I called for “customer service”, I was referred by Maytag to a third party repair shop. The first appointment was available 7/5/11. The repair man showed up over an hour late, and informed me that the washer was missing over $125 worth of parts. He put them on order and scheduled an appointment for another week later (7/12/11). I took a day off of work to be home for the appointment, but the repair company never sent anybody, nor contacted me. I had to call them the next day, where they informed me that the parts necessary were on back order, and they had no idea when they would arrive. I called Maytag “customer service” again, and was told that my only option was to wait until 7/31/11 for the part to be available, and then make another appointment for service. I told them this was unacceptable, as this would mean I had paid several hundred dollars, yet would not have a working machine for ~40 days. I requested a new machine but was denied by employees who had no interest in helping me at all. Even explaining to them that parts and labor were going to cost more than the cost of replacement did not work. Both Maytag’s products and “customer service” are terrible. Do not buy Maytag products!

Oh, I can go on and on about my new washer! I love the size, I love the great cleaning it does, I am super excited to continue the working relationship! LOL
If you have children, this washing machine is just right for their laundry baskets to be emptied. The clothes come out clean and almost (really) dried. So far I cannot complain. I did not purchase the pedastil for the washing machine but I will when I get the dryer in time. Thanks to Maytag and Home Depot for their wonderful service and manufacturing! <3

If anyone wants to know what you can fit in a 2.3 cubic foot washer, know that I could fit my queen sized cotton comforter in it (big, and very heavy when wet). I could do almost a full hamper (about 15-17 lbs) of laundry. This means I usually did a load of whites and a load of colors each week (drop off at the laudrymat would be $13.50 as of 4/2011). I didn't have a proper laundry drain in the kitchen (I live in a rental) so I have the hose drain into the kitchen sink (I have a double sink so it's okay). (If you don't have a water hook up, you can buy an adapter for your kitchen faucet, too.)
I bought this washer as a floor sample about 4 years ago for $400. For a small Brooklyn kitchen, it's a perfect fit and has worked great for most of the 4 years. On the 23 minute "Quick Wash" I could get a couple loads done in under an hour...clean and spun very "dry." The spin is super fast and it runs on 110 volts (regular plug). My roommate used to say "De plane! De plane!" when it would spin at it's fastest -- like Tattoo from Fantasy Island. Hilarious.
Over the past few months, the control panel seemed to start pooping out. First the "SUDS" indicator would come on and the machine would stop -- even if you used High Efficiency detergent ("HE"). You'd have to turn it off and turn it on "Rinse" over and over again to get it to complete the laundry cycle. Now the control panel just doesn't work at all so no more washing machine. Boo!
Since I paid so little for it to begin with, and I feel I got a lot of use out of it (hundreds of loads) esp. with all the roommates I've had, I'm just going to replace it with the same model. I know appliances used to last 20 years...and I wish my washer lasted longer. (I did take the water pump apart myself when a quarter got stuck in it. I'm not averse to doing repairs, but this is more than I can do) but in accounting/tax terms, the machine was fully depreciated and it's time for a new one.
Yes, I recommend this product.

i live in a small second floor apartment with narrow, steep stairs. this was one of the only washing machines that would fit up my stairs. i have had it for a month now and run it at least every day (cloth diapers).
everything gets clean on the "quick wash" cycle which is nice. the spin cycle is "intense". i wouldnt say its loud because theres no banging or anything like that. it just sounds like a loud, mechanical whirring.
works great, especially for its size. so far, i love it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have owned the Maytag since 2007 and in these years i replaced the Assy- Housing Drawer pt#PS2037079 five times. The waterways clog up and the water over flows down the front of the washer.Rather noisy and grinds during cycles.

About 5 years ago we bought this washer and it's matching dryer because of space constraints in our condo's laundry closet. It worked fine for 4 1/2 years, but 6 months ago started blowing circuit breakers after 2 wash loads. So right now my wife can only do two loads of laundry at a time on any given day. If not for this problem, I would give it 5 stars. It still works ok for 2 loads, but the problem it has is worrisome. We may need to service or replace it soon. Has anyone else run into this problem?
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought both the washer and dryer and only had 26 inches depth to fit them stacked in my closet.( You must buy the stacker separately.) They fit perfectly. Being compact they don't hold as much as a regular machine but still do a regular load. No more extra bid loads. Easy to use. The dryer holds more than the washer in my opinion. It's a little noisy but what dryer isn't. The washer is pretty quiet. I'm happy with them!

My husband and I have this washer and the matching dryer and we absolutely love them! They're easy to use and we've had no problems with them at all! My mother has neptunes for over 8 years and hasn't needed to replace or fix anything on her set either. I guess you can't go wrong with Maytag!

Just after the warranty expired, the front door started leaking. After replacing the door, it continued to leak, getting gradually worse and now pours water onto the floor with each cycle. My previous Maytag lasted 20 years, this one is a heap of leaking metal in 2 - if you are going to buy a disposable washer, don't spend this much money on it.

Don't believe the eco-hype; the cleaning power of this "high-efficiency" washer is superficial at best. It just can't clean the sweat out of t-shirts, for example, and that's about as basic a laundry need as it gets. Also, there's no manual override and very little manual adjustment possible of the built-in cycles. An expensive piece of junk.

I purchased the washer and dryer with the plan of stacking them but ended up putting it side by side so I can get more storage space above the machines.
This machine cleans very well and it spins out a lot of the water so it takes less time in the dryer. It does its job and no complaints on that part.
I gave it only 4 stars because the washer, although leveled, shakes so much when it spins on High that I worry it bothers my condo neighbors. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the shaking. I may have to take the spin level down a notch.
I would still recommend it and it's perfect for condo dwellers or smaller spaces.
Yes, I recommend this product.

this is a great washer that gets our clothes very clean with little water wasted. The only problem we have is the noise when it spins. We live in an apt and everything shakes. Otherwise, it's a great machine and yes, I would recommend it.

Yes, it is a little small -- compared to those Extra Super Large Ultra Capacity washers that are about the size of a Chevy Suburban. But let's face it. How many times are you going to do laundry for the entire football team? This unit has the capacity for any apartment with 1 - 2 people and it fit perfectly into my small closet. It cleans my clothes just fine and I can easily fit a week's worth of 'dirties' in it at one time. Sure beats using the dark, poorly-lit, ugly, communal laundry facility in my apartment complex.
Delivery was simple, quick and easy. Hook up went without a hitch.
The unit is surprisingly quite as I can't imagine there is room for much sound deadening material.
It is also quick. I've used full size, high-efficiency washers before and they seem to take forever to finish a load. This unit does not. You'll be perfectly happy with how long a full load takes.
I purchased this with the Maytag Neptune stacking dryer and the pair work very well together ... and look perfectly cute to boot.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I love mine. Very small, but fit beautifully in the space (only had a closet! - house is 950 sq feet). Does a fine job. Just don't cram it full. I would highly recommend this washer for those who have space for only a stackable. Not cheap, but much better quality than a tin-like stacked unit.
I bought the washer and dryer and had them stacked. My second set of Neptunes. Previous set was full-sized - in a big house. The small set seems just as well made.

I purchased this washer and the compact dryer a couple of months ago. A normal wash cycle is 63 minutes, and if you set it for the maximum spin to try to cut down on dryer time, the walls and floor in the adjoining rooms shake. It was checked to make sure it's level, and it is. As another reviewer said, there's no way the capacity is as much as is advertised. Don't leave something on the top of the washer if you don't want it on the floor when the washer starts spinning. I'm really disappointed but because of space issues I'm stuck with it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I have used this washer for the last couple of years; for a family of four doing at least one to two loads daily. I love the large capacity and how well everything gets clean. With using less softner and laundry soap this is definitely an excellent value for the money.
