Super Easy & Fabulous Meats!,
May 18, 2006
By Michele
from Palm City, FL
"We received it for Christmas, and my husband has hardly grilled anything since. He's done ribs, pulled pork, cornish hens, chicken pieces and a whole turkey. We've found baby back ribs cook better than shoulder - they're smaller and allow better air circulation. We've hardly done any rubs or sauces, because with the hickory/mesquite chips the meat is full of flavor on its own. And SO tender! The smoker takes very little prep (soak the chips, add the water and meat) and absolutely no supervision. We throw meat in before we go out on the boat, and come home to dinner ready. It's a great way to slow cook anything, and since it's electric there's no messy smoke. It does take some time to reach and maintain ideal temperature, so it's not for a last minute dinner. We bought one for both our fahter's birthdays! We love it and totally recommend this smoker."

will never purchase again,
November 28, 2007
"order this product as a gift for myself. It arrived yesterday, opened the box and noticed right away that the lid had 3 areas of rust on the inside, the body has chipped paint areas.
Needless to say, it will be returned immediately. I'll go back to my tried and true Brinkman electric smoker from another vendor."

heater element is Achille's heel,
November 26, 2007
"I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, the heating element and controller are the weak links, I got great results with chicken, turkey and brisket, but am having to buy a new smoker, the parts cost doesn't justify the purchase and replacement."

ELECTRIC SMOKER CHAR BROIL,
September 18, 2006
By dsloan
from I am a Baby Boomer in Houston, Texas
"I picked up the smoker and plugged it into the back patio electrical outlet and a short time later the breaker tripped. I took the smoker to the outlet by the front door, plugged it in and the breaker tripped there. I had to plug it into a dedicated receptical I had in the garage, a 20 amp service is necessary to operate this product, so if you have 15 amp breakers you may need an electrician. 2. The smoker has a thermostat with high to low settings, I found that with a rack of ribs in the smoker that if I left it on high, the temperature gauge never went higher than " Ideal" so I doubt that the burner element is large enough even though it needed 20 amp service, not good. 3. As another review stated I noticed that after one use the inside paint failed and started to rust within 12 hours of usage especially along the seam. I have relatives coming from Denmark this week and will try to cook a brisket, wish me luck..."

Great product, bad choice of paint,
September 5, 2006
"I received this product as a gift and have made many a spectacular meal with it. While the overall product delivers great tasting meals, there are some issues with it.
1) The Paint: The paint used on the inside of the smoker blisters and peels off after a couple uses. Mostly the paint can be peeled off in large sheets, but I did lose one of my pork shoulders and 6 hours of cooking time when the first large sections of paint came lose and dropped onto the food and could not be removed. It might be worth running your smoker a couple times empty (but with water) until the paint comes off to avoid this unfortunate occurrence.
2) The Thermometer: My thermometer only worked for a couple uses at which time I had to use a secondary meter. My product only had Warm/Ideal/Hot so I did not miss it very much when it failed."
