Grill Of My Dreams

I have found the grill of my dreams. This thing is both easy to move since I keep it by the house and roll it down to the water to do my burning and has enough cooking space for a very large group of people. It was easy to assemble and easy to use cooking everything to perfection. There are so many nice features that there are too many to name.My first cook out with it had everyone asking where I got it and of course I told them "THE BIG HOME DEPOT".I am so happy with this grill that I now park my very expensive car outside and keep my grill in the garage..Or should I say my wife's very expenseve car...
Yes, I recommend this product.

Alright I bought a Sante Fe grill, I also picked up a Char-Broil grill cover (fits perfect) and a can of grill paint (in case any rust pops up). Tha ability to raise and lower the (manufacture replaceable) charcoal pan allows me to manage the amount of coals and heat I need for my BBQ's. The built in thermometer is great, "ideal" is the temp your looking for, I also use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The four air vents are great as well as the front door for adding wood chips or extra coals. Heres what I did for my first BBQ; loaded a bag of charcoal on the right side left all doors, vents and lid open. As soon as I saw some white ash, put the grill on and began searing my meats. Once I had a nice char, moved them over to the left side where there was no flame, shut the lid and let them slow cook. Excellent ribs, chicken, sausage, and hotdogs with almost no effort. I love my Char-Broil Sante-Fe!

I bought this grill 4 years ago and have never had any issues with it. It cooks food perfect every time because of having the ability to adjust the temperture using the adjustable rack and vents. You cannot go wrong for the money. I have known people who have spent twice as much on a grill and the quality is not even close to that of the Sante Fe.

Pros:
The movable coal tray and bottom access door allow you to carefully control the surface temperature of your grill. If you're into slow cooking large roasts on a charcoal grill, you need this kind of a setup.
Because of the bottom door you can also slowly add hardwood of your choice for smoking, without disturbing the pile too much - you won't get ashes on your food. I love this grill.
Cons: Like someone else said, the materials could be higher quality. Black oxide coated steel is corrosion resistant, but left outside and unused (yes using it will slow down the process) it will rust in places. After considerable use pieces will fall apart.
I had to repair the coal tray in mine, and shim the opening for the front thermometer when mine fell out and wouldn't set back in properly.
Lastly, the thermometer is low quality and only reads out vague infomration: 'warm' 'hot' etc. I had to resort to using a stand-up oven thermometer and a roast pyrometer to monitor my grill's temperature. Nothing new here, but if there's a built-in thermometer you should be able to get useful information from it.
Overall, I'm happy with this purchase; the pros outweigh the cons.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have had this grill for a few years now. Despite the fact that it's shape and size require more charcoal than I think is usually needed, it has served its purpose and I have generally enjoyed it.
I give it an average rating for two reasons. First, as a couple of others have stated, the ash pan is of poor quality. It warps and eventually disintegrates. And a couple of the hooks that kept it hanging at the varying levels broke off. I understand that with high heat that metal will only last so long. But what makes it frustrating is that I can't seem to find a replacement pan. Home Depot doesn't carry them. They should but they don't.
Second, it does rust. I keep a cover on it but the cover goes only about half way down the legs. I've had to sand and repaint twice so far.
No, I do not recommend this product.

If this grill utilized quality materials it would be an excellent considering its size & design but unfortunately the charcoal pan warps from the heat after a few uses and the rest of the body will rust badly within 2 years even if covered and kept under a patio from the elements. The old saying you get what you pay for definitely holds true with this grill.

This barbeque is a joy to cook on. These days gas grills get all of the attention. Us charcoal cooks often get overlooked. This grill changes that.
Here in Hawaii it is barbecue season all year round. I am a scout leader and a Lions Club officer. I cook for a lot of people regularly. This grill makes it easy and fun.
Lots of space for cooking, easy access to the fire box to add coals, four dampers to control air flow and heat, adjustable height fire pan to move the fire to where you need it, bult with sturdy materials, simple, well thought-out design.
This barbeque grill is easy to recommend. Hands down the best one I've owned!
Takes less than an hour to assemble. Having a helper and a ratchet set makes the assembly easier, but it's no big deal to do alone.
Yes, I recommend this product.

this is what a homeowner needs in the backyard for grilling the right way. big, sturdy and easy to use. none of the nonsense from the $1000+ propane units. just simple outdoor cooking on a reliable grill.
you'll need a set of rachets to assemble it; but it goes together pretty fast, once you figure out the sequence of the parts. season it with a vegetable oil or fat rendering (and on the outside if it will be exposed to elements) to prolong the life even more.

I purchased 2 of these grills as gifts for my brothers in Houston and in Tampa. Both consider themselves grill masters. After the first use, they both raved over how well their grill cooked. Needless to say they retired their old grills and now they constantly brag about having the best charcoal griller on the block. I understand the magic is in the metal plate which distributes the heat from the charcoal. A genuine concept.

The grill is excellant for a charcoal grill but needs a front door to add additional coals so that you can keep cooking and still add coals to the fire. It keeps in good condition if out in bad weather and is made very sturdy. Overall it is an excellant grill.

I have this grill and Im not happy with the rack that holds the charcoal. It has distorted over time from the heat of the coals. I am no longer able to use the grill, but it was so great before this happened. Is there any way to buy a new rack for this grill?

This is a wonderful grill. Bought this a couple of months ago and it is a welcomed step up from my smoker grill. Only problem I had was the assembly. Please get a ratchett wrench if you don't already have one. The screws can be hard to reach with a standard wrench. Screws need to be very tight so the grill is sturdy. Other than that there are not problems. Great heat control with all of the side vents and the drop down front is a plus.

I purchased this grill on July 4, 2006 midday at approx. 1:00pm.
The loaders at HomeDepot loaded the grill onto my van (a Mazda MPV), which I didn't think would fit fully assembled, but it did!!. (a big thank you!!) I sped home thinking that I wouldn't get all of the meat I had purchased prepared before my guests would arrive. I arrived home about 1:45 pm; washed the grate, then loaded the charcoal onto the grill. At 2:15pm, the grill was ready to accept my 4 10lb packages of country-style ribs and 5lbs of brats and smoked sausage, and chicken galore. Then I added 10 packages of beef hotdogs and 25lbs of hamburgers (literally). My 10 adult guests with their 15 children trickled in around 4:00pm. At 5:00pm, we were ready to eat. All of the meat was cooked to perfection!! Everyone raved about how quickly the meat cooked without being dried out and how great it tasted. I was most impressed with the ease of operation of the grill. All you men out there who think they can grill, watch out for "GrandMa Diva". My grilled meat was the bomb!!

I bought one about 3 years back for my new house I had just bought. It was great for the cookouts I had. When I moved out of state, I gave it to a friend who always came over to BBQ because of the grill. He enjoys it immensely. I have yet to find this item in the Omaha, NE area, but I am looking. It is the best charcoal grill I have ever seen or used.

I have been a fan of charcoal for many years and have owned several differant grills.
Some were good for grilling and some for smoking foods.
With the huge size of this grill along with the completly regulatable temp. I can grill, smoke or roast just perfectly in this beauty.
Regulating the temp for smoking with charcoal and smoking woods takes practice, but its as much of how much charcoal and wood to use as it is adjusting the dampers.
Cant say enough about the grill especially considering its very reasonable price.
Thanks Char-broil and Home Depot

Charbroil Santa Fe

I have had the Charbroil for two (2) years and I have found this grill to be excellent. I bought the grill after
reading about it in a cook book were it was rated high..I found the rating
true...I love the capacity for grilling...I come from a large family and the Santa Fe fits the bill for my family; the grilling area is large enough for large quantities to be grilled or bbq'd. I love the two side tables which are very handy and the ashpan is large enough to handled large amounts of ash...I have recommended this grill to several friends who inquired about it at cook-outs and also to my siblings. Thank you for an outstanding grill
