"The product is a life saver when it comes to heating your
home on those cold winter nights.Puts out a lot of heat
you don't have that nasty smell when lit properly, just
follow instructions and you are ready to snuggle up and
be warm. There are several family members who also
own this wonderful heater. They wouldn't even sell me
one, so I bought my own. Light up save money and enjoy.

Power Outage,
February 7, 2010
By MER015
"After a record snow and a day of shoveling out we were left with no power or heat. I went to HD to purchase a kerosene heater. They were all sold out but asked if I could purchase the floor model. Well I did ,took it home and what a great product. Heated the family room within a hour and kept the entire small ranch house comforable."

Great heater for garage!!,
January 29, 2010
By CO13

"I've used this heater in my garage for over a year now and it's just great. It heats my 20 X 20 garage with no problem. Kerosene is $3.00/gal here so it can get a little pricey if you use it everyday however, I would not hesitate to purchase another one. The heater works great! Oh yeah, change the wick every year."

duraheat kerosene heater,

"i have had and used kerosene heaters off and on for over 30 years. i must say that this heater is by far the best i have ever purchased. it burns very clean without any odor. i have unheated basement and use it most cold days. it not only keeps the basement very warm but will also help heat the rest of my home. recently i had a new electric service put in and had no power for about six hours. i moved the heater upstairs and and it brought the temperature up into the middle 70's in no time. i wish everything i have worked as well as my duraheat kerosine heater."

"heater warmed up the house in no time at all, had to shut it down because got to hot. heats way better than any electric heater. very slight odor when shutting down,i just shut it down in mud room, no odor in house. very easy to fill, kerosene a little more pricey than oil. great item for emergencies, when power is out in winter.kind of bulky for moving, suggest leaving in one spot."

Good heater for utility purposes,
January 12, 2010

"This is my second Kerosene heater. I have had many in the past. I did find however the wick was sub par and falling apart when i first used it. The first few times the heater worked well however over a few days it started to soot and didnt heat as well as it should. I took the heater apart and found that the wick was falling apart. The heater was only a few days old. Taking the heater apart is not much of an issue two screws and four wing nuts and its done. I have changed many wicks over the years and this one seemed no harder than most. I have read reviews on this heater where people felt it should have worked better when they first got it. I would suggest if this is the issue then simply go buy a good wick and put it in. I am sure this could be done under warrenty however i dont find it a problem to change the wick. Not much of an expense about 10 bucks. other than that the heater is working very well now and puts out plenty of heat to heat a very large not well insultaged room in our attic. i give the review four stars only because i think they could install a better wick at the factory.."

Love it,
January 6, 2010
By hdlvr
"We purchased this heater three weeks ago after getting our electric bill. Our house runs on electricity so needless to say we were shocked. My husband remembered having one as a kid and wanted to get it. I did not. I just wanted to change out budget to adjust to the new expense.
Now I wish we had gotten it sooner.
I was concerned after reading some of the reviews but we haven't had any problems. There is a faint odor when lighting and extinguishing, but that is it. We have a two storey and I can't say it really heats up the second level, but our concern was the main living area.
We found that the estimate of 12 hour burn per fill is accurate and I like being able get walk by and the the rush of warm air.
Assembly was easy.
Best advice - follow the directions. Especially with letting it soak for an hour before lighting, as well as dry burning and cleaning the wick.
Oh and we ordered it Thursday and received it Monday - we were very impressed with that because it was just regular shipping."

Fantastic product!,

"We have had our Duraheat 2304 for 5 years and I can't even imagine how much it's saved us on our power bill. I run it from about an hour before I get up in the morning till time for bed, except when I have to go out. I set it below the ceiling fan, which is on low blowing down and it heats the house up beautifully. Even my pets love it. they all gather around it and then slowly back away as they get toasty warm. In the mornings they come running as soon as they hear me crank it up!
We had tried several other brands and types of heaters before and none of them heated as well, as safely, or as efficiently as the Duraheat 2304. It paid for itself the first month we had it, and has been saving us money ever siince. I have and will continue to recommend it to anyone who asks.

dura heat 2304,
November 29, 2009

"I bought this heater for my sunroom last Winter, it works great! My sunroom is 20x15 and heats up to 73 degrees in 15 minutes. We can now use this room year round, and enjoy the view of our wooded lot all year long! It also has saved us a couple of times when the electricity went out, we used it in the livingroom area and it kept us warm and provide light to the dark room! I would recommend it to anyone, just be careful with small children and never leave it un- attended, as you would any other heating device! On the downside, you may also want to to crack a window as it does give off some fumes when first lit; however, the fumes do go away within 15 minutes or so."

Heater did not last one season,
October 14, 2009
By sylvii
from Southwest Washington
"My primary heat for the last decade has been kerosene heaters, so I am familiar with the heaters.
Last winter I decided to try Dura-Heat, and it worked ok for a couple of months. Then, for no known reason (and I was meticulous about keeping it burnt off and cleaned) when the wick was lit (with knob all the way to high), it would, within 5 minutes start burning so low it was almost impossible to see the flame.....and, of course, it didn't put out very much heat at all.
Plus, it would smoke and turn the top all black.....none of my other heaters have ever done that. I took it all apart, thinking maybe I had not reassembled it correctly after a thorough cleaning, but that wasn't the case.
It continued to follow that pattern. .....and, yes, I've always used nothing but 1-K clear kerosene.
I still have the heater but it's just sitting collecting dust. If anyone knows how to solve that problem, I would appreciate hearing about it.
If there is no way to resolve this, I will make sure to buy a different brand next time.........and, yes, I"ve tried out numerous different brands of kerosene heaters."

Good for my cabin!,
March 17, 2009
By Cabinheatguy
"After reviewing several heaters I bought this one at Home Depot yesterday. Out of the box, assembly-easy. Wait an hour after filling, easy. Great heat. I had a little trouble starting on day 2, but another "wick soaking" seemed to do the trick. This is a great boost to the wood heat of the small cabin, and now I easily get it to over 70 degrees here in the wintertime with no furnace. The place is only about 600 square feet, but with a high ceiling and not much insulation.
For the price of a little bit of kerosene, it seems like you can't beat this heater.

"I was thinking about purchasing one of these to help offset our heating costs when the fuel prices were high. I read through the reviews and found them to be very helpful. But, I didn't purchase because the prices went down. Then we just had the worst ice storm ever and had no heat or power. I remembered how good the reviews were - especially if you follow the directions to a "t". Went and purchased the heater - 4 of them in fact for the homes of other family members. I told everyone - follow the instructions exactly. All I can say is awesome! I'm VERY senstive to smell and was worried. But, it doesn't smell or smoke! Be sure to fill and light it outside and adjust the flame like it says to. Extinguish it outside and let it sit there for 3-5 minutes before bringing it back in. You won't have any problems. I have a raised ranch w/3 beds and one-zone heat. It will heat the entire floor easily. I may purchase another one at the end of the season for each floor. I love it!"

A Necessity,
October 4, 2008
By RadianChalant

"I do not know how you can make it any better. This heater is heavy whether it is filled or empty. It is made mostly of steel, with the exception of knobs and labels. This heater throws out so much heat that soon you have to run over to it to shut it off. It come with a siphon pump to fill the heater with kerosene; this pump works well, I found out. By using the pump you do not have to hold the kerosene container up while you add fuel. The instructions can be confusing, but read on. I advise you to test a little kerosene (outside) before addiing it into your heater. Test it by adding a few drops of kerosene in a metal jar lid, preferably on a concrete surface. Light the fluid with a match from a distance. If gas is in your kerosene, the fluid with quickly burst into flames. If the kerosene is okay, the fluid will light really slowly...like a candle. When you use your heater, the flame will not be even all the way around the wick. Buy this heater; it sure comes in handy, especially when the furnace just does not produce enough heat or the electric goes out."

Incredible Heat!!,
January 25, 2008
By BUCKi
from Columbus, Ohio
"This is the first kerosene heater we have ever purchased. It was on sale for $85 at the local HD and I used my mailed 10% off coupon making it a great deal.
We have an older ranch style home built in the 1950's. Our family room is a 25' X 25' addition built in 2002 with 15 foot ceilings. It is a very difficult room to effectively heat with the furnace. Electric space heaters just don't get it done, never able to move the temp beyond 63 degrees WITH THE FURNACE RUNNING. I filled the tank and placed in the room and turned off the furnace to give it a true test. Outside temperature at the time was in the teens. Using a portable thermometer the room reached a constant temperature of 70 degrees within an hour. I moved the thermometer around the room and the temp did not vary at all. It also provides the exact heat to our ajoining kitchen and long hall way to the back of the house.
Full tank fill up is supposed to last for 12 hours. This is not a lazy mans heater as you have to haul it outside or to the garage to fill the tank. There is a small odor when you turn it on and off which eventually goes away and is not horrible. The unit itself does get extremely hot and you should watch any children and or pets that get close to it!! When you do shut if off it does cool down very quickly. I would recommend this heater to anyone that has a large area that they have found impossible to heat properly."
