"Called the Carousel II, this fan looked great and provided nice light in my son's room but always hummed noticeably while running, regardless of speed. After 18 months the hum turned into an intolerable buzz. Took the fan, warranty(lifetime)/manual and receipt back to the nearest HD. They swapped it out for the newer Carousel III which is very quiet, even if it's not quite as cute and bright as the old fan was."

"We have purchased many 52" Hampton Bay fans in the last ten years, so I am very disappointed with the loud motor on this model. It was loud on all speed settings.
We will return it and look for an alternative."

"This fan looks good, but the motor is a bit noisy even once the blades are balanced. There is a constant wirn noise.
Initially there was a scraping sound but that went away after the blades were balanced.
Overall I am not too thrilled about this fan, but it looks good so I guess it stays.
I neither recommend nor not recommend this fan.

"We bought one of this model of fans three years ago for my eldest child. After one year, the fan simply died. Had to wait for three months for a capacitor from King of Fans (manufacturer), which turned out not to fix it. We had to wait four more weeks for new switch to actually fix the thing. Since then, the fan makes a relatively loud metallic sound constantly. Needless to say, when my daughter was born, we, for some unknown reason, bought the same fan for her room. Now, after six months, the thing makes horrible intermittent sounds that wakes the baby from her sleep. King of Fans says we have to take them down and send them both back to them with a $15 check for return shipping just to check them. This fan is not a cheap fan to be having all these problems. While problems can happen with any electronics these days, to have problems with two in a row seems a bit scary. Just BEWARE..."

"When I saw this fan online, I was elated; it was just what I needed to compliment a room I was redecorating for my kids; also the versatility is great! Should I decide to ever change the decor again, I have three more sets of different blades I can use. Good size for a medium size room; the quality is great and the price is right too!!!"

"I purchased this fan for my daughter's room and I love it. It is versatile enough to be used in either a boy's room (primary color blades), a girl's room (pastel color blades) or any other room you'd like since there's also the white/wood grain blades.
Also, I like the fact that there are no glass covers over the bulbs, so there's less of a chance for breakage when you need to change a bulb -- this is very important for a self professed klutz like me!"

No surprises,

"It was easy to install, the multiple fan-blade colors provide plenty of options, the lights are more than adequate for the room, and there were no surprises. Yes, there is a little noise, but it is nothing like the droning hum of the previous fan with the bad motor. If I had not read other reviews commenting on it, I might not have noticed it or thought enough about it to comment on it.
I just wish I could get it with 52" blades."

Multi-Color Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans Look Great!,

"Recently my husband and I decided that we needed ceiling fans to help us off set our energy bills. In the past we have found that ceiling fans work well in both the winter and summer months. Most ceiling fans have a switch that can be easily flipped so that the transition from winter to summer is as easy as 'flipping a switch'. However, we didn't want any old ceiling fan, we wanted something that would complement the rooms that needed the fans.
With gas prices as they are, we decided to see if we could shop on line. We typed in Multi-Colored Ceiling fans on the internet and Home Depot was in the line up of stores that carried the Hampton Bay Multi-Colored fans we needed. We had no trouble selecting and paying for the fans. Because I am an artist, our family room is very colorful with bright primary colored paintings that my daughter painted. These fans were the perfect accent.
We had one big problem. Because we bought four fans for the large family room, we needed to use all four multi-Color fans. We could not use one of the fans in that setting because it would hang down too low in front of the big 5 x 6 foot picture that hangs above the fire place. We pondered what we would do with that extra fan...... Would we have to drive an hour and twenty minutes to the nearest Home Depot and return the extra fan? Those primary colors would look really out of place in our daughters bedroom.......That was the only other room that needed a ceiling fan.
Low and behold, when the fans arrived, the solution was obvious.(In some instances shipping is free when you shop on line with Home Depot.) There was an extra set of blades packed in each package. Those blades matched perfectly in my daughters room because they were white on one side and a sandy wood color on the other. Our electrician mounted the blades white side down and the fan hugged up to the ceiling so well that you can hardly tell that it is even there. What an incentive to shop with Home Depot in the future!
We had one scare concerning the fans. When the last fan was hung there was a loud hum. The humming was so loud that I thought the central air conditioning had come on....I panicked when the central air was not on because the humming was quite loud. Our electrician came down stairs and said that the humming was due to a need to change out the light switches. He did his electrician mumbo jumbo with the light switches that are on the wall and that reduced the humming to a bare minimum.
Yes, in the future we will trade with Home Depot. We have Hunter Fans in the front end of the house. They are a bigger fan than the Hampton Bay Multi-Color fans. We are pleased with both brands and we will shop again online with Home Depot for any other house hold needs in the future."

"I bought 3 of these fans for my kids rooms. The price is right and they like the colors, the only negative I have is the hum from the motor when running. It's not excessively loud though so I give it a solid 4 stars."

"I was looking for a fan that would look great in my grand children's room ,which I am decorating for them. I saw one of your Design on a Dime shows on TV that gave me the idea to create a brightly colored room for my two grandchildren,ages 5 and 15 months. This fan fit the bill. The colors are bright and vibrant, perfect for the sceme of the room."

"I bought this fan for my son's room. He loved the colors (I used the darker colors). The best part of multi colors is you can use various color schemes for the room. The only wish I have is that it could've been quieter. I have a Hunter ceiling fan in my room and thought a Hampton Bay would be just as quiet but it's not. Other than that it's very nice."
