I originally purchased one of these fans for my guest room where there had previously been no fixture. I had the electrician wire it in such a way that one switch turned the fan on and one switch turned the light on. The room has a black and white theme so I had the black sides of the blades showing and it looks great! The room is small and it looks perfect - the mesh light fixtures are so cool.
Later on I decided that I wanted a fan in my office, which is even smaller (approx. 9' x 10'). Of course this was the obvious choice and I had it wired in the same way and have the brown wood side of the blades showing. This fan is great....it's quiet and yes there is a slight noise from the motor but it's hardly noticeable. Not something that would disrupt sleeping or phone conversations in a bedroom or office. I highly recommend it for smaller rooms.

Just installed this in my bedroom after going through two Littletons and a white Landmark Plus, all of which had unbalanced motors (hence, they would shake and also make a horrible clunking sound even when I ran them with no blades attached). I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the San Marino at first after reading the reviews that complained about unbearable motor noise, but mine is quiet as a mouse (besides some VERY subtle motor noise the only other sound I can hear from it is the air whooshing though the blades). It does wobble when placed on high- but that's probably because the edge of the blades are about a foot from the wall, thus creating unwanted turbulence (this fan and the ones before it replaced an ordinary light fixture, and I did replace the old ceiling box with one that is fan rated)- as it doesn't wobble at all when placed on low or medium- so I just to plan to run it on of those two speeds, since it still blows a lot of air regardless of which speed is set (which is all that matters to me). Also the steel finish and the blades (which I installed rosewood side down) add a modern touch to my bedroom (I live in a 100+ year old house), and the three 9W CFLs put out just the right amount of light for me. All in all, I am happy with my purchase.

Working on a contermporary home, we needed a smaller fan that wasn't ornate, gold, or "old fashioned". We purchased one of these fans for the den and liked it so much that we purchased two more . . . one for the kitchen and one for the dining area (in the kitchen). The cfl bulbs, which are included, are not our thing, but the units are very stylish and up to date. The price was also very reasonable, especially when compared to other units that didn't fit our criteria. We found two units at Home Depot and ordered one more on HD.com. We received the third fan with free shipping and within a few days; faster than Home Depot's restock!

We bought this fan over a year ago for our master bathroom. My husband has installed dozens of fans in our house over the years and is knowledgable in electrical work. I thought he just goofed up when he installed this fan because when you turn it on it sounds like a huge motor starting up. Such a loud humming/buzzing sound. Obviously after reading so many of these bad reviews, now I know he didn't goof up, it's just a defective fan. We hardly ever use it because of the noise. We decidedly recently that we're gonna have to just take it down and throw it away. What a waste of money. This is a piece of junk. Make another choice.

I can't believe this fan is still available. We bought this fan 4 years ago for our kitchen. I loved the modern look and the size was perfect. My father, an electrician, installed it. It worked fine for a little while, then started vibrating and humming loudly. So loud, that we could hear just above it in our bedroom upstairs. We couldn't run it if someone was sleeping. I just got on here to shop for a new one to replace it and was shocked to see it still on here!
One other strange feature is the mesh-like bulb covers. Although modern-looking, when the lights are on in the evening they create an odd mesh shadow on the walls. Makes it look like I have some strange faux finish on my kitchen walls.

This is the second fan I had installed today in my son's room, and it looks awesome! Blows alot of air! I would suggest not to use weights(included) to balance the blades, but we measured each blade from outer tip 10 1/4'' to ceiling, to remove wobble. Use the same spot on the ceiling for each blade, and for us, leveled off perfectly. We had to bend carefully at blade attachment area to achieve this. Love this fan!

I purchased this fan for my son's room. Had an electrician install it. The motor sounded like a plane going off! The instructions said there would be a 24 hour breaking in period for the noise to stop. What!?!? Didn't stop. Just 15 minutes after my son came home and turned it on, the lights went out and haven't worked since. I now have to have the electrician come back to uninstall so that I can return it to Home Depot. I thought about exchanging it for a new one, but after reading the other reviews, I don't think so.

We bought 4 of them 2 for kitchen 2 for family room. Very quiet and they look great 1 of them in the kitchen the switchs broke off on inside and we need to replace them not sure were to go to get them? But over all we thought it was a great purchase.

I love that this combines modern features and is still very warm. I needed a fan to take up a small space and this is perfect! You can alternate the design from black to rosewood. I bought 2 of these and used the black in one room and rosewood in the other. Love them!

Loved the ceiling fans but was very disappointed when we opened the paddles to put on the already installed fan and they were badly scratched and chipped (bought 2 fans and this was with just 1 fan). We weren't about to take the fan out and send back. We will fix the issue ourselves.

Its hard to find a small fan to blend with black and stainless deco.This one does. However there are issues.1 Lamp wattage is 9w(cfl provided) Max.A larger cfl won't fit the shades. 2 The shades require a firm twist to seat properly. 3 Attaching the fitter may require patience.The motor start capacitor was too close to the side of the fan housing.It's held in place with double sided tape.I had to remove the tape so the cap. would move allowing easier assembly of the fitter to the fan.
