With the recent rain, we ended up having our basement flood up to our 1 st stairwell step. We had purchased this shop vac for dry cleaning but were grateful it was a wet/dry as we ended up using it to clean up the water. It did a great job. The hose is of good length, the wheels were a nice addition as the need to move it while full of water was made easier with their additon. Came with a variety of add on tools and two heavy duty handle extension which helped reach all the hard to get to areas much easier. It made the messy and overwhelming job of cleaning up a big amount of water much easier and I was able to do it in a shorter time than expected due to having this larger version I'm sure. I would highly recommend it and am very happy with my purchase.

My other shop vac finally gave up the ghost, and on some good referrals from some woodturning forumites, I ordered this vac from HD. It is so much quieter than my previous vac (no earmuffs required!) and has much stronger suction. "Standard" hoses, fittings. Filter removal/replacement for cleaning requires no tools and is ridiculously easy. Lighter and smaller than my previous vac, this one lives under a bench, rolled out once a week or so for filter/tub cleaning. I normally don't do reviews, but this is just too nice a deal to pass up.
Pros: Easy to Use, Performs Well, Quiet, Strong Suction, Great Value, Good Size & Lightweight, Easy to Empty Filter
Good product so far (only owned it for two or three weeks). Easy to assemble and to clean. Big, yet not too heavy, and it rolls smoothly. The filter that comes with it is very good and does a great job (I vacuumed very fine concrete powder, among other things). I have not yet used the "wet" attachment (the one with the squeegee), but one of the little teeth holding the rubber in place is already broken and the contraption came loose. I was able to reassemble it but I am not sure it will hold... Other than this I am satisfied with the purchase, and it helps me keep the construction site (bathroom remodel) clean.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Performs Well, Quiet, Strong Suction, Easy to Empty Filter
I bought this about 3 years but never really used it a lot. The performance of this machine was excellent, and it is lightweight and I like the bigger hose (doesn't clog as easy as smaller ones). When I started using it the other day, it just stopped working, like someone turned the switch off..no smell, nothing, just stopped. Since I has it for awhile I figured I might have to buy a new one. But then I thought I would check their website just to see what the warranty was. To my surprise, it has a lifetime warranty. I called the up and they said, no problem, just send us a few pictures of it and about a week later, I received a complete new unit. I was expecting just the power head, but I received the entire vacuum. Customer support does not get any better then this! Service like this will put ridgid at the top of my list for my next power tool purchase. Thanks RIDGID!!
Pros: Easy to Use, Performs Well, Looks Great, Good for All Surfaces, Quiet, Strong Suction, Good Size & Lightweight, excellent customer support!
I don't understand why anyone would get any other type of vacuum. This thing can out suck and blow away any $500 Dyson that I've seen. It can handle anything you throw its way, wet or dry. Plus, it'll outlast any other vacuum by at least a decade. It's surprisingly quiet as well. I can talk on the phone while vacuuming with no problem. The car cleaning kit is a great add on as well. My only regret is not getting a slightly smaller one. This thing is kind of big if you have a tight apartment.
Pros: Cleans Edges/Corners Well, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Performs Well, Quiet, Strong Suction, Great Value, Easy to Empty Filter, Nice Design
Bought this to keep up on all our wood and tile in the house, received it today. With the attachments provided this is a beast that sucks hard to the floor and is almost damaging to the surface while vacuuming. It is seriously to much suction for house cleaning. It would clean any carpet to it's jute backing, but we have no carpet. They have very few options for house cleaning. Have to break the news to my wife when she comes home. Going to have to replace my other shop vac in my garage work area with this one and buy a vac more directed at house cleaning. Must have missed it's raw power while watching the video of it sucking up steel and chunks of wood. Darn. Well, it's a heck of shop-vac. 100% on it's power, weight and noise output. It makes half the noise of a conventional house vacuum. If you have ever used a pay vac at the car wash, this is the power of this vac, but 1/2" smaller hose. It's a true Beast!
I hook the vac hose up to the exhaust for the joiner, and most of the sawdust goes into the vacuum cleaner. It keeps my work area cleaner, and I can always use the vacuum for floor, etc. This item works well as a multipurpose vac the way I have chosen to use it.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Performs Well, Strong Suction, Great Value, Good Size & Lightweight, Easy to Empty Filter, Nice Design
I started off buying one of the much smaller Rigid wet-vacs, but got tired of emptying it out every few minutes and decided to return it in favor of one with a larger drum. I'm glad I did, because this model is by far the quietest wet-vac I've ever used and needless to say is quite capable in the suction department as well. This bugger is even quieter than our Dyson vacuum for inside the house. Anyway, I love stumbling upon a good product and so far this is certainly that. I've had it for just under a year and used it 5-6 times, so can't say anything about longevity yet.
This replaced a Craftsman that had horrible filtration. My fireplace is one of the areas I need to use a wet/dry vac and the fine dust of the ash would shoot right out of the Craftsman, all over the room. The Ridgid works beautifully and is easy to move around on the casters or to lift. It's not too heavy. A few months after I bought this, I had a supply line under the bathroom sink burst. Being able to vacuum up the water immediately was essential. It had happened to me before and I had to call out the water damage company and that wasn't cheap. I think every home needs a Ridgid and the largest one you can afford. It's not if you need one but when.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Performs Well, Strong Suction, Good Size & Lightweight
I was going to buy the 12 gallon vac but when I got to the store and started looking at them this seemed like a better deal for only $20 more. It has a better filter and the power cord is 5 feet longer. It also has better suction power and a quieter motor. I'm glad I spent the extra $20. This think works great. It's quiet and lots of suction.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Quiet, Strong Suction, Nice Design
I owned a craftsman 16 gal for over 12-13 years - Bought this to replace it. this needs Improvements.. # 1 the two rear caster base, that acts as a holder for the two long pipes don't snug up tight enough to hold them in place, #2 the rear attachment bag that holds the attachments, loose don't snug up tight into the base unit. #3 the hose does not hold it self on top of the unit. The craftsman had a two sided "C" that held the hose on top of the unit when not in use. What I like so far is that the micro dust filter came with it, they cost 25-29$ alone, also the long power cord it nice. it's a little lighter then the craftsman due to the smaller base 14 gal VS. 16 gal...
UPDATE........ The company sent me an email asking if I will like to try a better acc. holder? I was in shock ! they sent me photos of the product / fedex me the new acc holder... works awesome, Wonderful Customer Service and care about the customer -- that Does Not Happen offten these days !
Pros: Performs Well, Good for All Surfaces, Quiet, Strong Suction, Great Value, Easy to Empty Filter, Nice Design, the company cares about the customer !!!
I just pick this up for $65 on sale. I almost bought the 8 gallon last week. I'm glad I waited and went to other HD across town. Very quite compared to my old shop vac. Came with lots of attachments for all kinds of jobs.
After years of use and abuse, my extremely expensive Dayton shop vac finally ended its days with a small spark and a wisp of smoke. I researched and compared many makes and models. This vacuum performs great, is not noisy and fairly easy to empty. My only complaint would be an improved accessory holder. I had previously purchased the generic attachment kit and the auto attachment kit, and obviously there are not enough spots to conveniently hold them. But still a GREAT buy!
