4 in. Polyethylene Pop-Up Drainage Emitters with Elbow

The NDS 4 in. pop-Up Drainage Emitters with Elbow is designed to help solve multiple drainage needs. It can be used with 3 in. and 4 in. drain and sewer fittings. Allows water to be diverted and released to water-safe areas away from structures, erosion-prone landscapes and poor drainage areas.

Review 1 for 4 in. Polyethylene Pop-Up Drainage Emitters with Elbow

Working as intended

I installed this product at the end of a drainage system tying two of my downspouts together. Three severe thunderstorms and Hurricane Sandy put it to the test. The only reason it didn't get five stars is from the emitters tendency to stick closed in moderate rainfall if it isn't cleaned periodically. I really like the low profile design and the subterranean elbow emitter that prevents the constant "weeping" of water across my driveway. No problems with my lawn mower shearing off the pop-up cap.

fragile covers

No, I do not recommend this product.
My mower sheered off the pop up on both of these. I swear, the covers were flush to the ground, but it must not take much to catch them. They should sell the pop up parts separately--you can't mow over them, apparently, unless they're below grade. I tried to superglue the pop up on one and drive over it slowly, but it still broke off. I'll replace it with a standard drain cover, I think.

Response from Home DepotBy THD Customer ServiceJuly 31, 2013
Dear williamstownbob,

I apologize that you had a poor experience with this product. I have reached out to the manufacturer for more information and below is their response to you:

"We’re very sorry you had this issue with your NDS Pop-up Emitter. Indeed the Pop-up emitter should be installed flush with the ground where it is installed. The Pop-up emitter sticks up about 1” when fully extended. If your mower is set to cut closer than 1”, then you should avoid running over the pop-up emitter. If you happen to break the Pop-up emitter top with the mower, please contact NDS technical services at 888.825.4716 and a replacement top will be sent to you free of charge. "
