Easy to use roll on waterproof membrane. If you apply to hardibacker cement board be sure to use a primer coat sicne the board is extremely absorptive. Primer coat should be 1 part water per 1 part redgard. After primer coat dries apply remaining redgard straight up without adding water.
Pros: Easy to Install, Effective
Yes, I recommend this product.

We used this product to waterproof a tub surround under travertine over Wonderboard.
Application was extremely easy, rolling on in a couple of minutes. It took several hours to completely dry (turn from pink to red). Coverage seemed to exceed that quoted on the label.
Note that you cannot use the premixed thinset with Redgard. We called the manufacturer to verify which thinset to use.
Pros: Very Adhesive, Easy to Install, Effective
Yes, I recommend this product.

At this instant, I've applied this product to a new shower installation. Walls and corners only. I've not gotten to the tiling yet. What I need to mention and everyone needs to listen, this product has a terribly strong chemical smell. Do Not Apply This Product without using a respirator. I made this mistake on the first of two coats. My nose and lungs felt like they were on-fire. Use lots of ventilation to the outside as it'll stink up the house too. I'm sure the product documentation covers this issue but did not read it all the way, like I should have. The second coat, I used a brand new respirator with new filter cartridges and that helped a lot.
As stated previously, it is a pink color and goes on very thick. When it dries, it turns dark red, which is a good thing as it'll help to identify any small places you missed. Brush on the corners and edges, then roller-on the walls. Once dry, it appears rubbery for the lack of a better term but supposedly will hold the tile well. I'll find out later today as I start the tile portion of this project.
Again, USE A RESPIRATOR and make sure its a good one if not the best money can buy.
Pros: Very Adhesive, Easy to Install
Yes, I recommend this product.

We used one gallon of red guard to coat the Hardi backer in a shower surround before tiling. We brushed it on in the corners and around fittings and used a roller for the field. I tried to keep it fairly thick but it seemed to go on sort of thin, but with 3 coats it was very well protected. It is kind of like the spray on truck bed liner stuff, very tough and flexible. I wouldn't use anything else now.
Pros: Very Adhesive, High Quality of Material, Easy to Install, Effective
Yes, I recommend this product.

I've used RedGard for two showers, and it worked fairly well, but it's rather expensive based on the minimal coverage area. It's also rather thick and doesn't bond with HardiBacker board. You're much better off going with a product like BondTAC, which goes on thin, is waterproof and water repellent, an air & vapor barrier, and an incredibly powerful adhesive. Also, it gets 225 - 500 square feet per gallon of coverage! I stopped using cement board and switched to regular sheetrock. Sheetrock is non-porous, so I get the full 500 square feet per gallon, and it only requires one coat (two coats on cement board or other porous substrates). Do a search on YouTube for "BondTAC" - there are a bunch of how-to and information videos.
Pros: Easy to Install
Cons: expensive to use - low coverage per square foot

Used this product to waterproof cement board before tiling. Product has multiple application methods. I used the trowel method. The coverage rate is not too good (40 sq ft/gal), making it an expensive product.
Pros: Very Adhesive, Great Instructions, Easy to Install, Effective
Cons: low coverage rate
Yes, I recommend this product.

Redgaurd Waterproofing Memebrane is a great product to use in any shower location. When placed over cement board it creates a waterproof barrier to prevent any moisuture from being absorbed into the cement board and being transmitted to your insulation.
I have used Redgaurd now in two of my bathrooms with fantastic results and zero problems. It must be used according to the directions to ensure a 100% waterproof barrier. It does not fill gaps or voids very well so those must be taped and filled with thinset before applying Redgaurd.
I give this product a 5 star rating because it is about the same price as using a plastic vapor barrier, however it is a better piece of mind to ensure that no moisture or water ever penetrates the shower so mold has zero chance to develope. For the the few extra dollars, it provides added insurance and piece of mind. A++
Yes, I recommend this product.

If you have a slab that is high in moisture, this stuff works great. We had a kitchen slab that was seeping water up through the grout of our tiles. We had the floor demo'd and new tiles put it. First, we applied Red Gard as PER THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!
You need a clean debris free floor. A scraper works well. Also, the warmer the outside temp the better for application purposes. Instructions say do NOT apply with slab temp 55F or lower. I prefer a day when it's around 80F.
The most important key next is to have dust vacuumed off the slab so it's clean. Then, you MUST USE A PRIMER COAT FIRST!!!!! The primer coat prevents the stuff from peeling!!!! I've done 9 floors now with the stuff and the primer is a must! Wha is the primer? It's diluted Red Gard one part, to 4 parts tap water! Then you apply it with a sponge on a stick or even a clean new sponge mop!
SIMPLE!!!!! The instructions explain all of the above. If you follow the instructions, it works like a champ. The final two costs after the primer dries is applied with a paint roller on a stick. Use full strength and it's a water barrier magic carpet, under your tile or stone floor.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I use this whenever installing tile. It seems to help prevent cracking, fills cracks, goes on nicely and prepares the surface well for adhesion, which seems to increase with this product. Also I screw my my tile backing material down properly and use proper thinset and notch depth, so this may be extraneous but every step counts to do a quality job.
Yes, I recommend this product.

It is people like Tony that makes DIY project easy. Thanks Tony for helping and going the extra mile to help a customer. The product was worth the investment.

During a bathroom remodel, I chose this product to seal, waterproof and isolated potential cracks in the gypcrete underlayment as well as decouple the thinset and tile from the Gypcrete.. Custom only recommends this for Gypcrete 2000 and I have no idea what type of gypcrete I have. I considered Ditra but took a chance and went with Redgard instead because I couldn't afford to raise my floor 3/4". A stripped the linoleum off the floor and most of the adhesive before spaying 1 part Redgard and 3 parts cool water down as a primer. I got some of the primer on my bathtub and part of the wall but it comes off with some elbow-grease. After the primer dried, I applied two coats with a roller. Each coat went on great and it did not peel a bit. The gypcrete slab appeared to take it well and after all was dry, I laid tile with Custom Crack Prevention Mortar using a 1/2 trowel. The tile job has stood the test of time so far and I am pleased with the product. Coverage appeared to be more than in the specifications.

Cons: Difficult to Clean
Yes, I recommend this product.

Redgard was recommended to me by a professional tile installer who said that people trip over dollars to save nickels, meaning that in order to save a few bucks they cut corners that they shouldn't have.
Redgard was easy to apply with a roller. As advertised it goes on pink and dries red. I applied two coats; one horizontally and one vertically. It dried completely in less than 24 hours which allowed me to start applying my tiles. One gallon covered our entire shower stall base to ceiling. (You'll need more than a gallon if you are doing a full tub wall tub to ceiling). Redgard did not affect the application of tiles and should provide us with a water barrier that will prevent damage from water infiltration behind the tiles. A great product and worth the money.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Difficult to find on HDepots website. One has to look through 'Custom Products'. Who would know. The value and performance of RedGard makes up for inconvenience. I used it 5 years ago in a large shower room. Now I'm using it on a very exposed large 2nd floor deck up the Northwest. I trust the product thoroughly.

Shocking lack of professionalism: 2 different calls made to the manufacturer with 2 different solutions to the problem from which NONE could be serious. First call I was advised to install Durock in the shower ceiling , second call i awas told this was out of Red Gards "application" responsibility . When I tried to get a manager on the line to find out who the "jerk" was giving me crazy solutions: i was told I could leave a voice mail ..... If there is any chance that you might require assistance from this company - GOOD LUCK.
