I live in a garden condo in Chicago and have a sewege pump that gets alot of use. I have had to replace the cheaper rubber flap check valve's every 5 months or so. I needed a heavy duty one and found this in stock at my local Home Depot. I is roughly 3 times the cost of the typical rubber check valves, but well worth it for the reinforced construction. The compression ring design made it super easy to install in about 5 minutes. The true test will be how well it performs over the long haul,. but so far it works great.

VERY EASY TO INSTALL. THE AD SAYS THIS VALVE CAN BE INSTALLED HOZ OR VERT, BUT THE INSTRUCTIONS ONLY SAY VERT. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING AS IT SHOULD.

I used to buy the cheap rubber check valves and the flapper would fall off in the valve and clog the discharge pipe. This was a huge problem in an apartment building that affected 6 people in 2 garden apartments and the laundry facility. Since using the PVC check valve I have had no problems. Highly recommended if you don't want raw sewage flooding your basement.

Installed this check valve inline at 45 degrees with a new flo-tec sewage pump. The compression fitting do not leak at all, perfect fit. Pay attention to the instructions when mounting to position the hinged side up.
