As a college student my space is limited so but I wanted the largest size possible for the space I do have. I bought this my freshman year and that was in 2009. Its been running great ever since.

We purchased this model of compact refrigherator, because it was the same as the last one lasted one we purchased 4 years ago.
The old one just quit working one day. it was not worth calling in a service call.
We are hoping this one will last a liittle longer.

Like several others here I purchased this item, let it sit overnight instead of just the 4 hours before it was plugged in. I then plugged it in, and 30 minutes later checked it. The compressor was hot, and the coils in the freezer were ambient temp. I called the service number, and they wanted to schedule a service call on an item less that 48 hours old. I had a better idea, which was to take it back to HD. If there was a 0 rating I would give it that! HD needs to enforce their old quality standards. This product seems to be > 50% faulty. I wish things were made in America again.

We've purchased this compact refrigerator from Home Depot and really like it. Works great! Niice color and looks good in the basement. Looking at buying another one for our daughter that's going back to college.

Great Refrigerator... perfect size! Stainless steel look is great quality without paying for stainless!

If you are thinking of ignoring the bad reviews and hoping that you will beat the odds and get the one Magic Chef fridge that works, don't do it. I did just that and after following the instructions to the letter was left with luke warm drinks. I let the fridge sit over night on the coldest setting and the next morning the drinks were no colder than they were when I put them in. I brought it straight back and ordered the GE. Sad, a fridge is supposed to cool - try working on that.

We bought this fridge a couple of months back for our office, and after reading the reviews we hesitated because there were a few people who said the fridge didn't cool well...but we decided to get it anyway, since there were also some very favorable reviews about it as well.
We love it, it works superbly, we've had no issues with temperature and in fact it runs on the cold side of cold actually.
The instructions warn to keep the fridge upright during delivery because if the fridge is on it's side it will take several hours for it to 'settle' and cool appropriately...so maybe this is what the other reviewers were experiencing. However, Home Depot delivered our fridge and they delivered it right side up, I'm sure they're aware it's best to keep refrigerators upright.
So, we are very satisfied, it looks great too, and we highly recommend it. :)

I went to Home Depot intending to buy the GE mini fridge for our extra kitchen. I read the reviews before going to the store and was against buying this unit. Since we needed the fridge right away, and they did no have the GE model in stock, we took our chances and bought the Magic Chef. To our delight, it works very, very well. It cools things very well, to the point that if you turn it to its highest setting, it will freeze everything in your fridge! So we turned it down to setting 3 (of 7) and it keeps everything perfectly cool on the fridge side and everything frozen in the freezer. It appears that all the reviews that are already out there on this product are from disgruntled users. I am very happy with this product.

I don't have this exact model, but the one I have does the same thing - I set it at 39 degrees and it stays around 46 degrees. When I called the manufacturer, they told me there is a 5 degree variance, and anything up to 54 degrees is considered within normal range! Imagine that. I don't think I want my beverages or food at 54 degrees. I am returning this to the store tonite!

After reading the reviews, I went to the store looking for the GE product; however, all they had at the store was the Magic Chef. Impatient person that I am, I went ahead and got it against my better judgment and guess what? Just like everyone said, it barely got cold. I had pizza dough rise in one evening when I wasn't going to make it until the next day. Stay far, far away from this product. I contacted Magic Chef and since it was still within the 30 days they suggested I return it to the store, which I did and then ordered the GE.

I got this product a couple of days ago for an emergency.....followed the instructions and it chilled up real quick on 7. Turned it down to 5 and everything is still cold. I'm happy with it so far. Even the little "chiller" is keeping things very cold.

The temperature never got cold. 50 degrees and that was it. My food spoiled fast and my drinks were cool at best. Took it back and will never by a Majic Chef again.

I turn it on tuesday night, waited the four hours before putting any thing inside. I seem to be cool but the next day when I went to get a can drink it was just cool not cold. I then put a thermometer inside to check the temp. It was 50 degrees inside.
I took everything out to see if it would get cold, the temp stayed at 50. So 5 days later I am returning it to the store for a refund.

My first issue was that the freezer can't keep anything frozen. Things will melt and leak out the door, even with it on the coldest setting. I purchased the refrigerator in September of 2006. It worked great in my dorm room, and I took it home in April of 2007. It was kept in its original box and stored over the summer. Took it back to college with me in August. It worked for about a week, then died in the middle of the night, resulting in a lot of food going bad. There was no reason for it to just stop working, especially after less than a year (and only eight months of use), but it did. It was alright while it lasted, as long as I didn't try to freeze anything. I would never buy anything from Magic Chef again... not recommended.
