I was trying to remove a powder clear-coat off brushed aluminum using Methylene Chloride based strippers and not making much head way. Then I tried this stuff and wow. It doesn't necessarily work faster, but the gel and the softened epoxy stays wet longer and it doesn't eat through every glove imaginable or require a respirator!
This made things so much easier!

I'm stripping 4 coats of paint (since 1958) which are on top of gelcoat. Don't know what kind of paint was used but 1.5 hours of this stuff being on and waaalaaa, used a simple plastic scraper and revealed the gelcoat with ease. I'm amazed... Never used another stripper before and can't see a need to investigate that route.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Every year, my sorority has to repaint a sidewalk block on Greek Row. This year, we weren't allowed to use harsh chemicals to remove last year's paint, so our usual method of gasoline was out of the question. Dry scraping yielded no success, and mineral spirits did little. This product, however, worked wonders and smelled great. After 30 minutes of waiting, we were able to scrub, scrape, or simply peel off a large portion of paint. A final rinse with mineral spirits removed leftover paint. Though gasoline would have been more efficient, this product comes in at a close second.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This did not work for me at all. Complete waste. I'm returning this junk tomorrow, and getting a real (chemical) stripper. I'll keep my citrus products in my drinking glass.

I've used this stripper often, with great results. It's the only one I'd use indoors. It smells great, and works beautifully. The one time it didn't work? Turns out the shelf was painted with lead paint, not latex! Yikes!

This is the worst stripper I have ever used. Very labor intensive. All it seemed to do was moisten the paint. And that was after 16 hours! We had to scrape like crazy and it still did not come off. Having to deal with the smell of a stripper that actually works is well worth the end result. NEVER AGAIN! On my way to buy something that works!

Cleaning grafitti off of plastic playground equipment, MEK and acetone was failing, bought this stripper with no confidence and it removed the paint in 20 minutes. No smell, wash down with water, no residue

I used this to strip paint off of a wooden shelf. It worked fast on large areas but did not work well on small areas (crevices, corners, etc.) so I had to apply two coats and sand the rest off. It was difficult to clean off the shelf and the drop cloth I used, even with mineral spirits. But did the job overall.

I needed to strip acrylic paint off of a wood floor. The product was easy to use, not at all messy. I waited the minimum amount of time after applying (30 minutes), and the paint was quite easy to remove. Would have worked even better, had I waited a bit longer, I think. The fumes were not over-whelming. I started out by using the spray version of this product, but needed to control the product a bit better, so as not to remove the paint on the baseboards. I switched to the gel, and had much better control of where the product went.
This product works great!

After reading several dozen reviews on paint stripper and the like i decided to go with Citristrip because of the fresh clean smell the product says it offered.
I bought this product to remove paint from a bike frame that i am using to build a fresh new bike.
Pro's
- first things first. the product does work.
- once the paint wrinkles up on whatever the goop is on, it will just wipe off, a plastic scrapper is advised though
- you really dont have to wear gloves and if you get it on your hands or clothing, with soap and water it washes off.
- it says wait atleast 30 minutes. by the time i had it on the entire bike frame, the paint on the first applied section was already wrinkling, maybe 5 minutes.
Con's
- make sure you either arent living in the house youre working at or you take the project outside. its an orange smell alright. not a good one, though
- if you leave the product on "up to 24" on the item youre working with, you'll probably need a beltsander to remove the caked on goo
- it has an extremely hard time washing off of cement
- if the coat you applied isnt even, when you scape off the goo when the time comes, most will come off and the rest will smear. and then its time for a second coat.
All in all, the product did what it was supposed to. id buy it again for the fact that i didnt have to wear an airpack when i was using it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I came across Citristrip in my search for a natural, solvent free paint stripping agent. I needed to remove layers of old paint from some marble statues in a local church. Citristrip works perfectly and even smells good! I was concerned that any agent I would use would need alot of effort to remove the paint and that I could potentially damage the statues with scratches, discoloration etc. But my worries were vanquished when I went to remove the paint. It came off smoothly, much easier than peeling an orange! :-D Any tricky corners that I could not reach the first time, I simply reapplied the Citristrip, and the job was done in a few hours. Now I use Citristrip any time I need to remove old varnish and paints! Thank you very much for stocking this product, it shows you care about customers who want alternative, environmental and health friendly products.

Citristrip

Absolutely the best paint stripper we have found. We discovered citristrip when our children were small and we were re-doing the woodwork in our dining room. We needed something that was not too strong indoors, and safer around children, and thought we would give it a try. We figured it may pose a little more effort, but to our surprise this required very little elbow grease to remove the layers of paint. We have used various other brands, but always come back to this one. Hands down THE BEST! Though curved surfaces do require a little more effort,...
flat, smooth surfaces can be completed in a breeze.

I am not a professional painter but have learned the hard way how hard it was to use other paint strippers on in-house projects.
I purchased my first jug of CitriStrip around January '09 and have nothing but high praise for your product...on my way to The Home Depot to buy my third jug today. It is so safe, easy and FAST. At first, I was reluctant…thinking that the citrus product could never hold its own with the name brand chemical companies.
Keep up the good work and I hope this bit is useful to others before they too resort to other strippers.

Citistrip performed as advertised. I used Citistrip to remove 2 coats of pain from bathroom cabinets. Two applications were necessary but a little goes a long way. Working time for the stripper was 30 minutes or less and scraping was minimal. The results were far better than I anticipated. I highly recommend Citiistrip.

Has a great citrus scent although it is very strong, make sure all the windows are open. Works best when left on over night and use a thick layer of this gel for best results. Follow all instructions and make sure to use glasses and gloves as directed. Every drop of paint came off of my wood cabinets.
Yes, I recommend this product.
