This is a great door! It is well made, sturdy and it really enhances the look of the front of my home. The door is very substantial and the hardware is not only attractive but also very functional. I didn't install it myself--HD installed the door for me, and they were in and out in less than half an hour!

Ordered a custom "black" storm door for a customer of mine to go along with her new entry door. The end result after installation was perfect, almost looked like the storm door wasn't even there it blended in so well. Installation was pretty straight forward with the directions pretty clear and concise, a little iffy in regards to the striker plate lining up with the pre-cut holes in the latch bar, but otherwise good. Customer is happy with her new storm door.

We decided to go with this door instead of the one you turn the handle to remove the glass to save on cost. If I had it to do over I would have spent the extra money. The strips aren't hard to remove and replace, but I notice myself catching items on the strips going in and out of the door.

I bought this door to replace an old one that broke and its very nice and heavy duty feeling. it took about 2 hours to install but was very easy if you follow the directions and dont jump ahead. we love how the door improves the look of the front of the house. also the one step lever on the hydraulic closer is used atleast once a day, this is a great feature. I would highly reccomend this door!

I am astounded at the quality of this door for the price. It took me about 6 hours spread over the course of three days to install it but it was by no means complicated. The fit is perfect. The finish is beautiful. And I can tell that it's gonna last a long, long time. This is one rock solid door. I highly recommend this model.

My husband installed this door this afternoon; took about 3 hours and he was being really careful. We purchased it because the other one was 16 years old and shabby looking. This one looks super sharp with the new ThermaTru fiberglass door (oval glass insert) also from HD that my husband stained himself. The duo looks great and even the neighbors have already commented in just a few hours! He said it was a fairly installation and the quality is there though there is always room for improvement in any product.

Looks beautiful and has withstood a million kids coming in and out of it all day! :) Handle came loose slightly after a week or so but we tightened it up and all has been well since. This door has been working hard since the day we installed it and we couldn't be more happy!

We love the door but agree with the others that the plastic pieces holding the screen/glass panel in is ill designed. The screen didn't rattle but the glass did. I solved it by getting some spongy weather trim that fit inside the channel of the trim that goes against the glass. I had to push hard on the trim to snap it into place but the foam weather strip keeps the glass snug against the frame and provides another seal. I was pretty frustrated until I came up with this solution. Get the weather strip that is about 3/8 '' wide and has the white wax paper on one side. Works great.
Cons: design flaw

I installed this door on my daugher and son-in-law's house. The instructions were complete and all the necessary parts were included. The instructions were clearly stated and included pictures of tools and parts that were needed for each step. We took about 4 hours to install, but we did not rush anything and visited while we worked. I would estimate a craftsman could install it in 1.5 hours and the average homeowner in 3 to 5 hours. We only made one mistake - we did not check the existing door for level before we started, so we had to redrill one hole and refasten the weather shield above the door.
The only flaw with the door is the glass panel trim was difficult to install correctly which could be an issue if they change from glass to screen very often.
I would buy this door again. It is very sturdy and should perform well in this windy area due to the dual door closure devices.

Just bought this door on 7-14-12 nice door but it's not 80 inchs the door size is only 79 my husband had to add pieces of wood to make up the differance. And as for the peices of plastic that hold the glass or screen have fun putting it all in went back to store and told them I want them to take it all out of show and put it all back in. Salesman had a time doing it but once he got it and showed me how to get it in right. I would have gotten the 4000 but I wanted the nickel plated handle and that was a special order need one asap. Besides all that the door does look nice. Remember that brass handles tarnish and everyone of my other doors are like that so it's better to buy the nickel plated...I would recommend it you have the time to play with the sizeing......

I installed this door on the primary entry of my home almost 4 years ago. The door is strong and has held up to near extream use. The wind of a Maine winter caught the door before it had closed causing the hindge to be damaged. I suspect that the door would give many more years of use if it would not have been for this incident. I am replacing the door with the same one.
The only negative that the method used to hold the glass/screen in place could better.

The Andersen storm doors are great. Be aware the glass and screens on the 3000 are held in by plastic "wedges" that you need to force into place. The 4000 has a much better mechanical system to hold them in. Also the printed directions are useless for non carpenters. The Andersen step by step video on YouTube is the way to go.

A few cheap parts ruin a good door

Overall, you could do a lot worse on a storm door. It's solid, nicely finished and installs easily.
However, the super-cheap plastic pieces that hold the screen/window in place ruin the door. These flimsy rails are meant to snap into a channel on the inside of the door frame. They're frustrating to use and definitely aren't engineered to last. I messed up two pieces just practicing with it and will have to order replacements.
I would not recommend this door simply for that reason. Spend more for the screen-window, built-in doors or try a make that uses a different system.

I purchased this nice full length glass door on sale. My previous storm door and entry door were destroyed during hurricane Katrina. The Sandstone color and nickel hardware is appealing. The door comes with a built in full length screen door that fits with two clips. The only problem I encountered is that one of the clips was missing from the hardware pack. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and the features. I would recommend this door to others.

Great finish to my entry. Door material feels sturdy. Instructions are not for the faint of heart. All day project with an experienced contractor who had never installed a storm door. On of the pieces was incorrect and Abco is replacing at no charge. After being installed approx 1 month there is some 'popping' in the bottom hinge, will be contacting Abco about that. Overall it's what I have been looking for.
Pros: Functional
Cons: difficult installation, some quality issues 1 mo later

Overall the door is great. However the installation was complicated and lengthy. Hardly anything is predrilled and the instructions were difficult to follow. Knowing what I know now I can do it again much more easily.

This product is a joke. It has terrible 45 degree joints and wasn't square. We're licensed CA Contractors and we had to wrestle with 2 of these before we bagged it for the other 8 and ordered a different manufacturer.
Bunch of stupid add on strips for hinges,nailers etc, that with any thought process and engineering could have been an integral part of the product. Stay away.
