If you are a home owner or a professional with a moderate amount of trees to trim this is a good product. It is easy to start, holds a considerable amount of gas and chain oil, enabling one to work a good period without refueling or adding oil. Balance and weight are not burdensome. The chain portion is easy to keep clean and tension adjusted.

It cuts through oak, maple and pine up to 10" with ease and is great for getting in thick underbrush. The unit is modular so you use the engine for other attachments such as an edger, trimmer or hedge cutter.
I have had other Ryobi's similar to this one which is why I chose Ryobi.
The one drawback I see is my older Ryobis are a sturdier design.
This one's throttle cable broke. The cable seemed to be seemed particularly flimsy. Currently the engine portion is in the shop for repair. I am currently powering the saw with a 12 yr old Ryobi (32:1 ratio).
Customer service was easy to access and promptly gave me multiple locations for repair.
I have had an electric pole saw and this unit is hands down much more effective and convenient. Overall this is an excellent value for the price.
I purchased online and delivery was within 3 days.

Got this as my early X-Mas present and used it to clear out some pine trees here in Calif. It does run great, you just need to run the pruner for awhile, till the motor is warmed up.The balance had to be adjusted for me height and was no problem after that.Lots of power and the chain was plenty sharp and had no problem cutting the hardest wood in my area. Like oak, liquid ambers and Pines.great for the money value too.My friend owns a Stilhl gas pruner and I've tried it and found no difference than the price I paid for mine, but than, the Stilhl is built much better, but the cost is 5 times more to own one.

This trimmer has seen a lot of use already by me.
Here's the good:
It is powerful, cuts fast and runs a long time on a tank of gas. I have reached things that I didn't think were possible with ease. I love being able to add or remove sections of the pole to suit my needs.
Here's the bad:
If you need to use it in the cold weather, don't buy it. If it's 40 degrees or below, the thing doesn't run. Even when you can get it to idle and the engine is warm - it just doesn't run. We had a major ice storm in Illinois and it let me down in 20 degree weather. It has California emissions on it and the cold is not it's friend. If I wait untill the temperature is warmer outside, the engine runs like a top.

I purchased this to remove some overhead branches since I was not comfortable using a chain saw on a ladder that would be on sloped and uneven ground. It worked like a charm. It is well balanced and light. I was concerned it may hang up halfway through the cut since the branches would be weighed down without support. No problem. It cut right through. This is a great time saver and easy to use. Like my other Ryobi products it is easy to start.
