The TLM 300, FatMax Tru Laser

The TLM 300 is much lighter than a tape measure, easier to read, and has a calculator that makes construction layout much easier with the Pythagoras functions. The feature setting this Tru Laser apart from other makes, is its 2X scope used to sight targets in full sun light. The TLM 300 has a standard camera tri-pod mount which can be used for long distance measuring. It fits nicely in a zip-lock sandwich bag (that way I don't worry about falling into a stream and submerging it). It makes short work of any compass & tape application because you don't pull tape, and reel it back in. Sure, it make take the cost of 20 tape measures to make up the cost, but remember, it's safer to use, and more accurate! The laser dosen't bend in the wind, get full of sand and jam, or break. I'm also very impressed with its battery efficiency, having taken countless shots with the batteries that came with the TLM 300.
You can use it for measuring range instead of estimating it while bow hunting. You can measure across rivers, ravines, streams, rock faces and other dangerous areas, that you wouldn't dare use a tape for - and you can do it without a helper holding the other end of the tape. After only a few compass and tape, or as-built survey jobs, you can make up the cost of your TLM 300 by having one field surveyor do the work, instead of two. Use it a short while, and you'll wonder why anyone would rather use the old tape-on-a-reel method for measuring anything.
