The review from Pete saying it only cuts 1/8" deep is right, but that is what it is intended to do. With drywall you only cut through the paper, score the gypsum and break the rest. A reviewer down the list correctly states the best way to use this tool is to score both sides then pop it with a mallet or your hand and you'll have a perfect hole. If you have to cut from one side only, you should plan on using this tool to cut as deep as you can to get a nice trim cut on the face of the drywall and then finish the cut with your knife or drywall keyhole saw. If you want to cut all the way through from the face, invest in a rotozip and the circle cutter to go with it.

Cuts perfect circles

I needed to cut 6 holes for recessed lighting in my kitchen and decided to purchase this tool. It saved alot of time and makes perfect circles. Helpful hint: use a nail to punch your center hole completely through the drywall and scribe the cuts on both sides of the material, then gently knock out the cutout with a hammer. Pops out clean, did'nt even need a utility knife to clean up the cuts. Great timesaving tool!

If you want perfect circle cuts for pancake light boxes, this is the tool for you. Several things to note about the operation of it. The set screw that is used to hold the proper diameter for the cut needs to be very tight, which sounds easy enough, but comes lose quite often. If this occures while turning the cutting compass your circle won't be true and the cutting well isn't a large enough circumfrence to cut all the way through a piece of half inch thick sheetrock. You have to turn the board over to cut all the way through.
Pros: Good Size & Weight, does what it's supposed to do.
Cons: Difficult to Use

I've only used this for a short time so I can't speak to durability, but it works very well for cutting circles/arcs in sheet rock. Easy to use, quick, does a nice job.
Pros: Easy to Use, Performs Well, Easy to Work With

Used to cut holes for recess lighting in 1/2" drywall. Cut both sides of drywall and pound out with a mallet or the palm of your hand. Cut 18 6" dia. holes without a problem using the method above.

I was looking to put Drywall on the ceiling of my workshop. I had approximately 10 circular light fixtures to cut out. I discovered this unique tool to help cutout drywall for the fixture. Wow!! what a savings of time. This tool, makes cutting circular holes, significantly easier. No more tracing the hole with a pencil, then using a knife to make the hole. Saved me a significant amount of time. The price was well worth the savings in time.

This is a cool little tool for cutting circles in drywall. I used to cut out openings for 3 6 inch can lights and for some small wholes (less than 2 inches ) for plumbing. Worked great. As mentioned in the other review, use a punch to make the center hole and cut both sides. Even worked great on 5/8 drywall.

No, I do not recommend this product.
Had to cut 16- 8 - 5/8" speaker holes, Only tryed one hole,it will not work on existing installed wall board.only cuts 1/8" deep, not enough to make a clean hole. Had to use a jab saw to complete.
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Difficult to Use

Would have been nice if the cutting blade were a little longer so that it could easily cut a circle into pre-hung drywall.
