"I have owned this washer for a month now and I get excited everytime I use it. It is so easy to operate! My children even know what buttons to press. They get excited about pushing the buttons and watching it start up. The top is clear. This washer has so many cycles it's unreal! You can browse for the exact items you are washing ex: comforter, blanket, sheets, jeans, etc.. then you can go even more specific and enter if there is any stains and select what if any are on the clothing. ex: baby food, diapers, feces, grass stains, oil, grease, urine, blood. You can set the temperature to your own specifications or it will automatically do it for you based on everything you selected. The washer is a tad noisy when it first starts up as it only fills the water to the exact level needed for whatever is being washed. So the basin will rotate and shake for less then a mintute while it is determining how much water to use. After that you can't really hear it at all. The basin is very large and we have washed queen size comforters, pet bedding, and small bath rugs in it with ease. When the cycle is complete the clothing is almost dry. It's very impressive and we only have to dry our clothing for around 15 minutes. We saw immediate results in our electric and water bill.
The only "issue" we had with it was when we first got it I washed a comforter that was down-fill and when it was washing it fluffed up over the basin top which caused the basin to go off-track and water leaked out the bottom of the machine. The washing machine immediately self-corrected itself. The machine stopped and there was a messege on the screen that let me know that the basin was off track and to remove my items inside the machine and then hit continue and the machine would re-position itself back in the correct place automatically. This it did, I couldn't believe the machine fixed it's own self!!!! I was so in disbelief I couldn't accept that it fixed it's ownself and because water did leak out the bottom I called GE's warranty number and had them send a repair man out just to be on the safe side. Which by the way their customer service was friendly and they had a technician at my home the next day. The repair man informed me that since the washer has no agitator (the spindle in the middle like traditional washers) it operates on a magnet system. He explained that while washing heavy or large objects like blankets sometimes the weight will throw the basin off track and if it happens to do that during the rinse cycle then the water that squirts out from the rinse will leak on the floor. Also, you can ONLY use High Efficency (he) washing detergent in it. I thought I could get away with using concentrated and was told big mistake, it creates too much suds.
So if you remember to never let any clothing or blanket go over the basins maximum line and always use high efficency laundry detergent then you shouldn't have any problems that the machine can't fix it's ownself. The machine is genuis and we love it.
Also, on a quick note we did not purchase the matching dryer as I read the reviews on this website for it and it didn't have very good reviews. We ended up purchasing the new Maytag Bravos Steam Dryer which had rave reviews and this washer and that dryer actually look good together. I was worried about buying a different dryer but they are the same exact white color and the same exact height and width."
