Check the inside of your toilet tank. If it has the Gerber label, You may have problems (leaking because the gasket is too small.) The tank to toilet gasket that comes with my kit did NOT fit my toilet tank. Buy a gasket kit for GERBER toilets. (The rest of the kit WILL work, though.). Written instructions are TERRIBLE-just watch the manufacturer's installation video and save yourself some time. I had to pick up my separate gasket kit (Item # 247754) at Lowe's.

I've rewriten this review. I first gave it 1 star because it leaked from the tank to the bowl after installation. When putting the tank top back on after photographing it, I discovered that the chain was catching under the rubber attachment loop on the flapper. I had checked that it couldn't reach under the flapper itself and hold it open, but it was long enough to catch under the loop. This is shown in the attached photo. After remedying that, it works fine.
Pros: Reliable, No Leaks, material quality looks good.
Cons: instructions could be improved and amplified.

I didn't utilize all of the items in the package. I had a leaky toilet(leaking from the main reservoir into the bowl. I used some food coloring to verify the leak. I then replaced the mechanism inside the reservoir and the seal between the reservoir and the main bowl. The first week after installation had me questioning if the seal had held.The bathroom smelled like urine, but I think it was just the smell of the rubber seal. The smell is gone and no leak. Good product and if your unsure as to what is failing you have all the components to choose from in one package at a relatively good price.
Pros: Good Instructions, No Leaks, good price
Cons: previous toilet operational experience a plus

The pieces were very cheaply made and the good thing is that it only cost $20. I fully expect to replace some of the parts in a year or so. This is not a product you want to put into a rental because you will be back replacing is very soon. I would have purchased a better quality one but HD search only revealed this one.

I looked for a similar product at Lowes and came away empty-handed. This was specifically the product I desired and found at Home Depot. With just a few choices, I could immediately pick the right one for the job with plenty of options available within the product.

My aunts house has two 1954 "Standard" toilets with the orignal works inside. they were constantly needing "jiggling" and "bending" of the parts inside. I pulled the tanks on both and had to use a hack saw to cut off the bolts that hold the flush valve in place (since 1954!). All the old parts were thick solid brass and this new stuff is thin plastic... but, I did replace everything and it all went together as expected and the toilets now work smoothly. These kits can be adjusted to work in these old toilets and they are set to use lots of water since these old toilets only flush if they use a lot per flush. But anyway, it was $20 well spent. It took about 1 hour solid per toilet.

This top tank repair kit is easy to install works great for any toilet. It sure beats and is better than ballcock design. I used this kit in three toilets in my house people at home depot are always nice to me they say I live at home depot. I like the idea you can use this kit for older toilet that use three gallons of water. Or lower the flush valve sliding up the plastic bead to raise or lower the water height in your tank.

The kit has all the parts to repair a older two piece unit. The only issue was the tank bolts are two large of a diameter to fit a ten year old American Standard tank. Used the original bolts and purchased new rubber washers.

i replaced a leaky toilet valve with a Fluidmaster and the toilet flushes better than ever! You need to remove the tank to install it but the replacement was straightforward. Price was right too!

My parents have a 15 year old Kohler 1.6 toilet that they wanted new internals on, so we bought this kit. Installation was easy, assuming you're comfortable with basic plumbing skills (i.e. not overtightening connections). The directions are good and you can watch installation videos on YouTube for the individual parts (flush valve, fill valve, etc.) Applying logic along the way helps at each step (i.e. make sure flush valve is situated before tightening in such a way that it doesn't interfere with tighening the tank to bowl connection bolts). After turning angle stop back on, no leaks at all (knock wood), and a perfect flush. It was nice to be able to clean up the tank and bowl after separating the two. Small rust spot from the previous hardware at bottom of tank, but some light sanding with 120 paper dissolved it quickly. Tank and bowl look like new now. I've had great luck with Fluidmaster fill valves in the past, and this complete kit doesn't appear to be any different in its build quality. Definitely recommend.

I am a pretty handy gal and although this was my first installation of a toilet kit I found the instructions to be confusing. I ended up watching the videos on the Fluidmaster website which helped quite a bit, but didn't help much with some troubleshooting. Even after adjustment the flapper does not stay up long enough to empty the tank. The total removal and installation time was at least 2 hours for me!
