These are great screws they are easy to start, and have a low tendency to break when sinking up, there is also a low occurence of head stipping. They also have great holding power, and do not tend to back out with material expansion. It completely met all my needs for this type of product.

This review is from:#8 x 1-1/4 in. Phillips Bugle-Head Coarse Thread Sharp Point Drywall Screws (1 lb.-Pack)
So these are my go-to fasteners for nearly every typical job. I love these for hanging things on the wall, tying just about anything to a stud, driving through plywood, hanging drywall, and on and on... About the only thing I don't use the 1.25" ones for when I need a longer screw (like framing work) or when I'm in a specialty situation (like a wet area). These are handy for just about everything else though and I use them constantly. Here are a few tips I've learned over the years about these screws:
- Use the tip of your Phillips head to create a starting pocket in the material you are driving the screw into. It'll help to get it started and help keep it aligned.
- If you need the wood you are driving into to not splinter or crack, drill a small pilot hole for the screw to drive through. You can also countersink the landing area for the screw head to get a very nice, clean entry.
- These screws work great with wall plaster or wood putty. You can putty right over them and they hide really well. Just make sure they are buried below the surface of the material you fastened them to.
- Impact drivers work best with these screws.
- Don't hold the screws too tightly when starting them. Many of these tend to have little metal barbs still on the threads and they WILL give you a nasty metal splinter that really hurts.
- Don't overdrive these screws. Drive them to the correct depth and then stop. The v-shaped head will cause the wood grain to split apart if you overdrive these and you will crack your work piece.
Pros: Sturdy, Easy to Install

Just to answer the previous review. The Fine Thread Drywall screws are for use on steel studs. They also have a diamond point tip, so you do not need to use a self-tapping screw or pre-drill when laying sheetrock.
Also, you should never use drywall screws when laying hardie backer or any type of cement board. Sure, it will work since it is a screw. But if your tile comes with a warranty, it will be denied of any claim if you do not use the proper screws, and if you do not use enough screws. If it's for a customer, give them a quality installation. But if it's for yourself do as you please.

Used these to attach 3/4" plywood to steel floor supports in my new shed. The screws went right through and held tight using my drill driver.

I worked for a drywall company for 9 years and saw many, many different brands of #6 1 1/4" screws. The last batch (5lbs) I bought at Home Depot were the worst I've ever used. They were extremely dull. They have a large amount of oil metal shavings on them. Also, they were definitely larger than a #6. Bad Bad BAD screws. There are few things more frustrating than trying to make it through a box of bad fasteners. To be fair, I've bought this brand before and they were fine.

These screws work great, These are my favorite screws of any type. I do not know why you would use the fine thread version of these drywall screws however... they dont grab nearly as well! But the heads will brake off if driven hard into a knot (nothing to be worried of, probably like 1 in 100) or say you try to use them to attach cement board instead of the expensive cement board screws (then more like 1 in 10 will brake).

cheap screws. large amount of the box had the heads filled in and were unusable because of this. otherwise they held the sheetrock.
