A nice replacement to my old microwave,
November 23, 2009
By kilbdo
from Washington, DC
"I enjoy the convection aspect. I like being able to cook something small in a quick time frame. The microwave also came with a cookbook of recipes to use in the microwave, along with a laminated 'cheat sheet' for cooking times for various items and settings.
I dislike that there is a turn dial for time. I would prefer a keypad to enter in the time that I want to set. That is my only downside with the device, otherwise I love it."

Slow to preheat!!!,
October 25, 2009
By GEGI
"I chose this product because as usual space was an issue when designing my kitchen. I have a slide in gas stove, and I wanted the small oven option. I was not told or is it anywhere in the info packet that it takes over 15 minutes to pre-heat!!! To add 15 minutes to cooking time and the energy it takes to do that is a waste and not very"GREEN"! I now use it to microwave only. Had I known this I would have saved money by purchacing a microwave only!!! We have contacted GE with this issue."

Awesome appliance...,
October 24, 2009
By Alant40
"My first over the range microwave. I am so impressed. I now have more counter space and the stainless steel finish is great. Installation was easy contrary to the other reviewer in my opinion. Studs in any home are 16 inches on center; therefore in a 30 inch space there must be 2 studs unless the house wasn't built properly. The bottom of the bracket extends the entire 30 inches across and the sides need to be fastened with the toggle bolts supplied. I had no trouble installing this microwave. I will agree with the template underneath the cabinet. Clumsy at best but if you know how to read a tape measure, this to is not a hassle. Enjoy..."

"I absolutely love my new convection oven. I have the convenience of having an extra oven and a microwave when needed. Plus the fast bake feature is especially handy when I need a meal in a flash. Easy to work dials and numerous features make this oven perfect for a busy family. I highly recommend it to anyone."

Nice appliance, but......,
June 6, 2009

"Design and function of this oven is good. But, can be difficult to install.
1. Very heavy.
2. Mounting bracket does not allow for installation when there is not at least one stud that lines up with bracket holes. The bracket is lightweight sheet metal, u-shaped, so there no way to put screws anywhere else. Had to open the wall and install studs.
3. The lag screws provided are of poor quality and stripped about half way in. Had to use vise grips to remove and then had to purchase some better quality lag screws.
4. A paper template is provided to locate the vent opening, blocks and holes to drill. The problem with this template is that it is designed to be placed on the bottom of the cabinet that you want to attached the
the oven to. Had to use double stick tape to hold the template in place and then drill and cut up. Difficult way to work and not very accurate.
5. The biggest design flaw is that the vent opening is completely on the back corner of the oven top. Since most kitchen cabinets have a 1 1/4" rim on the bottom of the cabinet, the installed vent pipe ends up against the back cabinet wall and recessed down about 1 1/4" Must reach down to connect to the oven vent. Absolutely no way to get in sheet metal screws to connect the vent.

"This microwave/convection oven is perfect for large families! For Easter I was able to bake the stuffed shells in this fantastic microwave/oven while the ham was in the large oven. Easy to use even for a novice at cooking like me. Strongly recommend."

1.7 cu. ft. G.E. Convection Microwave,
April 13, 2009

"The 1.7 cu. ft. G.E. Convection Microwave was a great purchase for us. My wife loves to bake and with current energy costs, it is to costly to constantly use the electric oven. We have been buying G.E. products for well over 20 years and are loyal buyers."

Nice Microwave/convection oven!,
January 27, 2009
By Linc

"We purchased this unit after the GE microwave we had for approximately 14 yrs finally broke down. We shopped around and found this unit with a convection oven included. We gave it a try and found out we really like this unit. It seems to cook faster than the old one, even though it is 100 watts less powerful. The convection oven is taking some time to get used to. We are still experimenting with different items from the included cookbook. So far everything we have cooked in it has turned out very well. It is quite a bit faster than conventional cooking and saves energy as well! We like the controls as well. We have had this unit approximately six months. I would recommend this combo unit. ( a little pricey, but we bought it during a 10 per cent off sale, and it does work very well )"

So far, so good....,

"Just replaced old GE microwave (which lasted for 6 years) with this convection microwave. I must say, so far I love it, little bit louder than the old model, but this has so many bells & whistles that I can live with it. I have not used my oven since getting the microwave, and I am enjoying trying the different recipes that are in the included cookbook (veggie lasagna is delicious!!!) I bought mine from the store and got a great deal as it was a special order that had not been picked up."

Only lasted 18 months,
September 4, 2008

"I bought the Oven without the extended warranty. Big mistake. Oven only lasted 18 months before giving up. I got a quote of $400 for the repair to the computer that controls the convection operation. I'm going to replace it with a different brand rater than repair.
If you must buy, get the warranty!

GE Profile? 1.7 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range,
December 22, 2007
By Frannie

"I have enjoyed using my new convection MW during this hectic holiday season. It is so versatile and evenly cooks the food both when baking and microwaving. I heard it was noisy but I found quite the contrary, maybe that was the older model. I am enjoying every second of cooking with my new convection mw and using the recipes in helpful cookbook that accompanied the range. It also cleans up nicely. I highly recommend this microwave!"

Excellent Product - Easy Install,
October 9, 2006
By JJ8541

"We bought this unit recently as a replacement to another over the range unit where we had an unpleasant experience (different retailer, different manufacturer) - the unit went dead after only 2 years (no extended warranty) and would cost as much as the unit did orginally to repair. My mother-in-law had this same unit (GE Profile) and liked it so much she rarely used her range anymore for cooking - she did most dishes in this unit - either by microwave or convection.
The installation was very easy - I am a moderately experienced do-it-yourself remodeler and it took less than an hour to remove the old unit and put this one in place (measure twice & cut/drill once). The only downer was that the charcoal filter for re-circulating installation was not included and I had to hunt one down after the fact.
The unit cooks as promised and having a smaller convection unit other than our larger range is very nice - I think we'll follow suit along with the mother-in-law and use this as our primary unit to save on electricity. I have to say that having the convection feature is very nice as we had actually gotten used to not having a microwave for almost a year, even with a 1 and 3 year old children at home, when we tried to settle the previous debacle with our previous dead unit (again, different retailer, different manufacturer).
Overall - veery pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it - but following our previous experience, would also definitely recommend getting the extended warranty for any appliance where sophisticated electronics are involved."
