We bought all matching GE Profile appliances (fridge, micro/convection, dishwasher, and stove) and have had problems with all of them. The electronics are TERRIBLE. In fact, the control boards have gone out in every GE appliance we have purchased and the replacement cost is extremely high. We just replaced our dishwasher a month ago, now our microwave has gone out too.
Unless you like changing your appliances every few years, avoid the profile series.

Having to learn all over again with this new microwave because its alot different than my old one. It looks great installed and really added class to my kitchen. Like the microwave but not happy it wasn't stainless steel all around, I would not have purchased had I known. Beeper is not loud enough, takes long time for preheat, and I miss easier setting for less then 15 seconds. It works well overall

I think the 2 racks are overkill for the microwave, so I removed one of them. I have used the combination cooking and the wings came out great. The SS interior is easy to clean, but the dial is a very difficult learning curve because I've always been able to program the exact time I wanted. This microwave uses 15 second intervals and I could only defrost meat one pound at a time. WEIRD!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Convection Completes the Kitchen

This product is a perfect upgrade to a kitchen suite of appliances for people who enjoy cooking .. My wife and I used our new unit this morning and everything worked great, we had a Cake in the New GAS Range at the same time we Convection Baked Brownies (as an afterthought to please the grandchildren) and then warmed (micro oven warmed previously baked biscuits and sausage) in the Convection Oven/Microwave while we cooked cheese omletes on the Gas Range Cook Top ... All in about 40 minutes ....
What makes the 40 minutes special is that we had never touched the Unit before, we used the laminated guide and found it extremely easy to understand and follow, two folks in their mid 50's and mid 60's ...
The GE install was effortless, they installed 3 of the 4 total products (had to wait for three to shipped) in less than an hour ... It did require a new back mount that was included with the product and base install charge ..
Not sure why another person had a long Preheat for the Convection Oven ... We did not .... The adjustment to the Dial was quick and I/We actually enjoy it ....
And remember that the Glass Plate in your old Micorwave is the same size .... and not cheap to replace if broken ... so keep the old one as a spare ... the goal of Energy Star Appliances is to replace old units and not have them go back into service ... so keep your spare parts ...
Bottom line .... we baked two items, for two Birthdays ... had Breakfast and prepared the sause for the Grandmom's Birthday Rum Cake (Heavy of the Rum for Grandmom ... she is mid 80's and it makes her happy) and could not be more delighted ... the Stainless seems to bring out the color in the wood cabinets which enhances the kitchen ... We are delighted and feel you will be as well ..
The Multiple Fan Options and Lighting Options are truly Outstanding .... They compliment (actually enhance) the Gas Range to a new level (I'm certain the same would be true for an Electric Range as well) ...
While Convection Cooking is different, once you get the nak of it .... it's a time and energy saver .... Purchace and enjoy
Yes, I recommend this product.

Home Depot had the best price on this unit and the dellivery was fast and professional. I am very happy with the functions of this unit and it's performance to date. I did my own install and it took about 30 minutes that included removing the old unit but get a helper as it does take 2 people to install easily. The directions were clear and concise. I was not originally thrilled with the button feature after having all touch control pad units but after learning the functions of the button and ease of use I would reccomend it highly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I enjoy the convection aspect. I like being able to cook something small in a quick time frame. The microwave also came with a cookbook of recipes to use in the microwave, along with a laminated 'cheat sheet' for cooking times for various items and settings.
I dislike that there is a turn dial for time. I would prefer a keypad to enter in the time that I want to set. That is my only downside with the device, otherwise I love it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I chose this product because as usual space was an issue when designing my kitchen. I have a slide in gas stove, and I wanted the small oven option. I was not told or is it anywhere in the info packet that it takes over 15 minutes to pre-heat!!! To add 15 minutes to cooking time and the energy it takes to do that is a waste and not very"GREEN"! I now use it to microwave only. Had I known this I would have saved money by purchacing a microwave only!!! We have contacted GE with this issue.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My first over the range microwave. I am so impressed. I now have more counter space and the stainless steel finish is great. Installation was easy contrary to the other reviewer in my opinion. Studs in any home are 16 inches on center; therefore in a 30 inch space there must be 2 studs unless the house wasn't built properly. The bottom of the bracket extends the entire 30 inches across and the sides need to be fastened with the toggle bolts supplied. I had no trouble installing this microwave. I will agree with the template underneath the cabinet. Clumsy at best but if you know how to read a tape measure, this to is not a hassle. Enjoy...

I absolutely love my new convection oven. I have the convenience of having an extra oven and a microwave when needed. Plus the fast bake feature is especially handy when I need a meal in a flash. Easy to work dials and numerous features make this oven perfect for a busy family. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Design and function of this oven is good. But, can be difficult to install.
1. Very heavy.
2. Mounting bracket does not allow for installation when there is not at least one stud that lines up with bracket holes. The bracket is lightweight sheet metal, u-shaped, so there no way to put screws anywhere else. Had to open the wall and install studs.
3. The lag screws provided are of poor quality and stripped about half way in. Had to use vise grips to remove and then had to purchase some better quality lag screws.
4. A paper template is provided to locate the vent opening, blocks and holes to drill. The problem with this template is that it is designed to be placed on the bottom of the cabinet that you want to attached the
the oven to. Had to use double stick tape to hold the template in place and then drill and cut up. Difficult way to work and not very accurate.
5. The biggest design flaw is that the vent opening is completely on the back corner of the oven top. Since most kitchen cabinets have a 1 1/4" rim on the bottom of the cabinet, the installed vent pipe ends up against the back cabinet wall and recessed down about 1 1/4" Must reach down to connect to the oven vent. Absolutely no way to get in sheet metal screws to connect the vent.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This microwave/convection oven is perfect for large families! For Easter I was able to bake the stuffed shells in this fantastic microwave/oven while the ham was in the large oven. Easy to use even for a novice at cooking like me. Strongly recommend.

The 1.7 cu. ft. G.E. Convection Microwave was a great purchase for us. My wife loves to bake and with current energy costs, it is to costly to constantly use the electric oven. We have been buying G.E. products for well over 20 years and are loyal buyers.

We purchased this unit after the GE microwave we had for approximately 14 yrs finally broke down. We shopped around and found this unit with a convection oven included. We gave it a try and found out we really like this unit. It seems to cook faster than the old one, even though it is 100 watts less powerful. The convection oven is taking some time to get used to. We are still experimenting with different items from the included cookbook. So far everything we have cooked in it has turned out very well. It is quite a bit faster than conventional cooking and saves energy as well! We like the controls as well. We have had this unit approximately six months. I would recommend this combo unit. ( a little pricey, but we bought it during a 10 per cent off sale, and it does work very well )
Yes, I recommend this product.

Just replaced old GE microwave (which lasted for 6 years) with this convection microwave. I must say, so far I love it, little bit louder than the old model, but this has so many bells & whistles that I can live with it. I have not used my oven since getting the microwave, and I am enjoying trying the different recipes that are in the included cookbook (veggie lasagna is delicious!!!) I bought mine from the store and got a great deal as it was a special order that had not been picked up.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought the Oven without the extended warranty. Big mistake. Oven only lasted 18 months before giving up. I got a quote of $400 for the repair to the computer that controls the convection operation. I'm going to replace it with a different brand rater than repair.
If you must buy, get the warranty!

I have enjoyed using my new convection MW during this hectic holiday season. It is so versatile and evenly cooks the food both when baking and microwaving. I heard it was noisy but I found quite the contrary, maybe that was the older model. I am enjoying every second of cooking with my new convection mw and using the recipes in helpful cookbook that accompanied the range. It also cleans up nicely. I highly recommend this microwave!
