We bought this GE Micro/Convection oven to replace a previous GE Micro/Convection oven that we had installed when we bought our house in 1999. The Microwave function on the old model finally quit after 11 years. I was very happy to see the price is much less now (got if for $521 w/free delivery and old appliance haul off), we paid $900+ for the original model, not including delivery. We were looking at/wanted the GE Advantium 120, but I saw too many negative reviews for the 120 and didn't feel like running a 240V line for the Advantium 240, which seemed to fair much better than the 120 in the reviews. We had to wait a week for it to be delivered, you don’t realize how much you miss the microwave until it’s not there.
So far, we are very happy with this new model. I hope it lasts as long as the previous one. I was hoping that it could use the back plate and original installation holes as the old model, since the chassis and dimensions are almost the same, but that would have been too easy, right? But, that’s not a big issue.
This model has some updated sensor features that seem to be calibrated better than the previous generation, such as reheat, although some of the sensor features were deleted, such as (Combination Convection Baked Potato), which we used frequently. The fan is quieter and now has 3 speeds. The task light is much brighter, also. The interior is bigger by .5 cu ft (1.7 vs. 1.2) and now has the turntable again, but that’s not an issue, since you can turn the turntable off if the container you’re using is too big to rotate. We haven’t used the convection feature yet, but we got a lot of use out of that feature with the previous model, when needing a second oven, or when not wanting to heat up the kitchen with the main oven in the summer months. Convection Bake always seemed to work well, and I’m sure this model won’t disappoint.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We have been using this product for approx. the past 9 months on a daily basis. It is our only oven so the convection feature is used often. It became easy to use after getting used to the dial etc... We were forced to go this route b/c in building a mother-in-law suite we were apparently not zoned for a duplex and therefore could not install an actual stove/oven. We have, in general, been thankful that such a product exists. I have not noticed it to consistently cook quicker (some cookies bake faster, casseroles and brownies I've noticed take a little longer). It does bake unevenly (back left corner browns before everything else and I usually have to be sure to rotate the pan to avoid overcooking that section). I was fine in dealing with those little "inconveniences" but recently lost faith when a wire for the convection unit burned up and the tube for the microwave broke. This happened within days of the warranty expiring, so thankfully it was covered. We were not guaranteed this to not happen again and anticipate a $250.00 bill if it happens in the future. Dissapointed and wondering if the high wattage is too much for such a machine getting daily use? One repair man suggested placing a large cup of water in the microwave when reheating small items...the other said it really didn't matter and it was just a fluke that it happened. Although the second repair man said the newer microwaves don't last as long due to how hot they get at their high wattage....well I guess for $530.00 (what we purchased this for) I'd hope it would last at least few years and this didn't even make it a full 9 months! Yikes. Hopefully it holds out until we can move in another year or so.

This is a nice looking appliance, I love the dial feature for increasing time, temp, selections, etc. I have used the convection oven and it works really quickily. On another site, I saw reviewers complaining about the preheating time, but it seemed fine to me. It cooks a lot quicker than a traditional oven, and didnt heat up my kitchen. The light is VERY bright, which is nice for when I am prepping food. I also didnt find the fan to be overly loud, which I have seen in other comments.
I went right from convection to microwave cooking, with no trouble at all. In addition, the popcorn sensor worked perfectly! This is the first microwave I ever had that I could put in the popcorn and walk away without worrying it would burn.
This is a great replacement for my traditional microwave. i have been wanting a second oven and simply had no space for it.
The only downside is that it does take a while to cool off after it cooks, so you need to be careful about getting things in and out of there if you use it while it is still hot. Also, if you have kids that are old enough to use the appliance, you would want them to be very careful not to accidentally start baking and burn themselves.
Im very pleased with this. I dont know how I made it this long without it!

When replacing my last over the range microwave, I was excited to get this one so that I could use it as a convection oven when my other oven was in use and to speed up my cooking time. I also have a small countertop convection oven I was interested in pulling in the closet to free up some counterspace. I was a bit concerned about the dial control, but figured it couldn't be too bad. Well I've learned to use the dial control, but any guests require serious handholding. The biggest disappointment was the convection. My regular big gas oven heats to 400 in 11 minutes while this takes 17 minutest to heat to the same temperature. So much for a timesaver. The only time I use this as a convection oven is during the holidays when my regular oven is full. I called the warranty department about the long heating time and they told me it was expected behavior. Too bad this isn't in the documentation anywhere. I will never bother with one of these again and have pulled my trusty countertop convection oven out of the closet full time. Should have saved my money and just bought a regular microwave.

This is my second GE Profile microwave/convection oven. I love them! They hold up great. My countertop version is a several years old and is used every day and still looks like brand new inside and out. The interior of them is awesome! It was the main reason we decided to get the over the range version to add to our kitchen when we remodeled. I am more than pleased and would highly recommend them to anyone. You will not be disappointed.
