Have had this fridge for a yr in my cabin
I have been very happy with it in every way but one the bottom drawer does not slide easy but for the value you cannot beat this fridge and economical to run

I received no racks in freezer and no butter tray. I am in the process of looking for a rack for the freezer. I have never had a freezer with no racks. All of my food is falling all around the freezer. Terrible!

Need a fridge w/out all the thrills? Some reviewers describe this refrigerator as being noisy, but I don't think it is. Sure you can hear it run, but it won't be loud enough to disrupt your TV or keep you up at night. It has a place for an optional ice maker which is around 80 dollars. All in all a good purchase.

Although the photo shows a shelf in the freezer...there isn't one and there is also no dairy compartment door. You can order them separately!!!!

I don't expect a "quiet" refrigerator with this price, but it is very noisy to me. The compressor runs very often and long compared to my old GE top-freezer (GE top freezer is also criticized due to its noise but this one is worse from my experience. GE manufactures Americana and Hotpoints brands but these are the economic version (cheap) of GE). Maybe I'm out of luck, but if you are sensitive to noise, you have higher chance of being unhappy with this.

Everything works just fine, fast and simple delivery. Only thing would be the bottom drawer...does not hold very much weight for such a large drawer without falling down. Everything else, does its job and looks good.

If I had seen it in the store i would have not buy it, because the materials that is done from don't seem good quality, the plastic and all.
It's so loud you listen to it all the time wherever you are in the apartment.
The door is so difficult to open.

It just arrived 5 hours ago .It's working fine already.
This is almost exactly the same fridge it replaced only 16 years younger.
The last was called a Hotpoint (GE also) though.
It's not really much quieter though.
I expect it will do at least as good a job.
The big out here so far is no freezer shelf.
The Hotpoint had a shelf but a smaller freezer as I recall.
GE gets good ratings.
Otherwise I expect getting something like the wire shelf I have and am using else ware presently is a fair solution for the future.
It was somewhat troubling to put an ice tray in without a shelf, but even on a shelf the water before freezing could spill over if jostled, if less likely jostled off on a shelf.
I think I'll try to ask GE what it would cost for them to send the one they have described in the book.
This is like the smallest large size, cheapest model fridge available I think and I don't think there is any better for the price.
Delivery with pre-call notification was excellent.
It was installed in veritably no time at all considering all the hoops to get it through the door.
I'm rating it for the price.
To compare it to a more expensive model wouldn't be fair.
If there are any future problems I'll lower my rating.
The last one lasted 16 years or so, with no service calls.

I bought this refrigerator for my small mountain cabin and it's by far the worst thing I've ever bought from Home Depot--and a lousy refrigerator. First, it doesn't come with many necessary "accessories," such as a closure for the butter niche in the door. I invested another nearly-$100 in extra accesories to make the frig better. But soon, as other reviewers have noted, the shelves started falling down, especially the bottom shelf attached to the vegetable drawer. The inside of the frig is too large for the width of the shelf and it constantly, infuriatingly, falls off, especially when the frig is full. Also, as others have noted, if I set it cold enough for the freezer items to be safely frozen, the vegetables and so on are ruined by freezing in the refrigerator.
This frig is inexpensive and looks good in the store, but over time you will see what a poor investment it truly is.
It was not worth the $399--I've probably lost at least that in ruined food--and if I could return it I would do so. I don't understand why Home Depot continues to carry this low quality item.

I read several reviews before purchasing this fridge, and the most common complaint I found is that it is noisy. I will agree that it IS rather loud when it is running, but come on folks - it's not THAT loud! Yes, you can hear it running if you listen for it. No, it will not block out the sound of Wheel of Fortune on the tube. Just ignore it, and you won't even notice it. It's not that big of a deal!
Personally, my only complaint is that it does not come with any sort of shelving in the freezer. There are a few holes in the sides of the freezer, as if it was meant to hold a shelf, but we did not receive one. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come with a shelf and we did not get it, or if it's something we need to buy separately. I noticed several people complaining that they did not receive their butter door. We DID receive ours, but no shelf for the freezer. Maybe that was a trade-off. Who knows.
Other than that, it works fine for what it is; a refrigerator that's meant to keep your milk cold and your Hot Pockets frozen. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have had this unit for only four months. After three months the shelves began falling out when stacked with food items. the bottom crisper now lays on the bottom of the fridge. I have beed contacted by GE, the maker of Americana and have been informed they are aware of the shevles falling out. They informed me three times during our conversation. The inside of the fridge is wider than the shelves. I have been waiting several days now for their fix to this concern. They are sending plastic clips that are supposed to help eliminate the shelves falling out. I wil believe it when I see it. There are better units out there for the same money that lock the shelves in the old fashion way with track mounted on the back of the fridge that the shelves angle and lock in to..

This is a follow up review after owning this refrigerator for 3 months. This refrigerator has a loud bothersome coolant expansion noise. This is not the constant low pitched hum of the compressor or the fans but is a high pitched irregular noise that can be likened to a piece of metal on a grinding wheel. It starts out much louder than the compressor and fans and quiets down after the compressor has been on for 13 or 14 minutes. I had GE service come out to look at it and was told that it is normal for this refrigerator to make that noise. So I have to believe that GE designed this refrigerator to operate at such a low charge level to cause this noise -- a very poor ergonomic design.

Met expectations. Wanted an energy efficient replacement for a 30+ year old fridge for the basement. Handles storage overflow just fine and is compact. Good delivery and installation--even arrived early with notice.

I have finally found the fridge that fits into my spot. After hunting estate sales for an "apartment size" fridge with no luck (2 years now), I decided to buy this one brand new. Very happy with the decision. I purchased on line, and with no hitches. Delivery was "as promised" with friendlly, courteous delivery men, on time, and installed quickly and effeciently. Fridge is perfect for my situation, and working perfectly. No issues.

For the money I must admit this was an excellent buy. I am very pleased with the overall performance, it is not noisy as some people have said and I did get a cover for the butter tray which some people said they did not. It was a perfect purchase for a 2nd refrigerator for our laundry room which we use to store sodas and for parties. I am totally satisfied.

Bought this as replacement ... old side-by-side compressor went out. Good shopping experience at local Home Depot. On time delivery and set up with free removal of old unit.
This Americana unit is perfect for me in my condo.
It IS "quiet" - the shelves permit good airflow. It DID come with a butter shelf cover. The doors DO close and STAY closed after use - IF the instructions are followed and the front legs are lowered and cause the correct rearward tilt of the unit.
Overall NICE job - in shopping, buying, delivery - and "quality"
