When we remodeled our kitchen, we bought the black version of this unit because we liked the design and assumed that it would be a high-quality dishwasher --BUT BOY WERE WE WRONG! After several unsuccessful warranty repair calls, LG finally sent us a replacement, which ended up being as bad as the first one. Rarely did either unit clean our dishes very well, and almost never dried them. We tried everything, but finally, after two years of frustration,we went back to Home Depot and bought a $299 unit made by another manufacturer, which cleans and dries our dishes many times better than the LG ever did! Reading other recent reviews, I can see that we are not alone in our assessment of this model. The whole experience was very disappointing, not to mention time consuming, and costly, and will make us a lot more cautious when we consider future appliance purchases.
No, I do not recommend this product.

We remodeled our kitchen a year ago and purchased all new appliances. A new refrigerator and stove top, trash compactor and an icemaker. We thought we were buying high end appliances when we also purchased this LG dishwasher. What a Mistake that was! Have had nothing but problems with it. The dishes do not come clean and are always spotted with water still on them. They replaced the pump unit last week and if possible, it is worse than ever. Would NOT recommend this product!

This is a piece of junk, do not buy! This is the worst dishwasher I have ever used. Do you remember those crummy dishwashers you had in college? Those worked 10 times better then this piece of junk! Only buy this if you prefer eating on dishes with crusted/dried on food or if you want to wash your dishes by hand! I am literally sick to my stomach that we are stuck with this piece of junk...basically out $700.

Kudos to LG on the customer care. We have had a repairman in three times so far (had the dishwasher for about five months) because our dishwasher leaks (but the service has been for free because it falls under teh one year warranty). We have had the wax motor replaced and the inside door panel replaced. The dishwasher leaks inconsistently, anywhere from not at all (most of the time), to a small puddle of a tablespoon (about twice a month), to about half a gallon (once).
If you own one of these, run hot water in your sink before starting the dishwasher to speed up the run time. Also, make sure you have JetDry in it, or it doesn't dry well.

We got this dishwasher because it seemed like a reliable high end model and well, it looks good.
Pros - lots of height on the top shelf - can put wine glasses and side plates no problems. It does look good.
Cons - TWO HOUR wash cycle - a real nuisance. Dishes still wet after the two hours. Dishwasher STINKS. With only a plate or two in it for 24 hours it really does smell terrible, I mean nauseating.
I would not recommend this model.

Everything you have read about how quiet this machine is is right on par. You literally do have walk right up next to it to know that it is running.
We have used it for about two months, no problems whatsoever. I did also install it myself - it was my first ever dishwasher to install, too, so not bad.
I happen to like that the bottom drawer comes all the way out, so some people saw that as a negative, but I like it.
Cons:
it does leave some pieces wetter than I would like, but oh well, I can shake it off or throw a towel over it real quick, as quiet and as big as it is, it is worth it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I had researched and found that this dishwashser to be very reasonable with the latest technology, quite, energy-efficient, etc. But did not take care to look more on how it washed and dried dishes, the fundamental function of this unit.
At first the dishwasher was fine with washing dishes, but more recently even the dishes that come out are still greasy. And regarding drying, this has been a perennial problem, since the time we bought this, the dishes especially plastics were never dry, not even 50%. When using the recommended rinse aid, it improved the drying to about 51% (the change is so small because it did not improve drastically). Now we see that the non-plastics are too not dried properly, using the maximum rinse aid setting, sanitation option, etc. Became bad to worse.
There have been 5 repairs on this dishwasher ranging from replacing different parts to correct the above issues but in vain. No improvement. Now tried all the tips LG wanted, and they are working to replace the unit.
Here is what a LG Service Technician had to say about the dishwasher: "This is not the best of the dishwashers on the market and does not do a good job". What else can be said! JUST STAY AWAY from this dishwasher.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I was wanting to buy a cheap dishwasher. After going to Home Depot my husband suggested that we look at the better quality dishwashers. I was not really looking forward to spending that much money. But after looking at it I decided it would be better to go with this model. So we got it. I went to work the next day and wanted to show my co-workers what we had bought, this is when I noticed the reviews and how some of them were not very good. I became worried that we might have made the wrong choice. But a couple days later the dishwasher was installed, we followed the manufactures installation and I have to say this is the most wonderful dishwasher I have ever had. It is so quiet and cleans the dishes so spotless. There is a lot of room inside for every type of dish or pot. The top rack is tall enough that all my glasses will fit in it. I just love this dishwasher. Really the cost was not that bad since it does its job very well. I recommend this dishwasher to everyone.

We installed this LG ourselves and it was very simple. I have ran two loads so far and many were nasty dishes. It cleaned them all completely! I even put in a plastic bowl with tons of dried on pasta sauce, no pre rinsing. It came out so clean no orange residue at all. When we first turned it on we thought something was wrong with it because we thought it wasnt running BUT it was SOOO quiet that we didnt hear it and we were standing in front of it. It does take a while to run 2 hrs but with such a large tub we can fit lots of dishes in there. It has been wonderful and we couldnt be happier.

I bought this dishwasher to replace a 5 year old GE. I like my LG front loading washer/dryer and loved the sleek looks of this unit. It is incredibly quiet compared to my GE dishwasher partly due to the stainless steel interior. As noted in a previous review the tops of my utensils also do not fit in the silverware holes in the basket but I simply flip up the lids and put them in that way. B/c it is a tall tub you do have to lean way down to load it.This was an incredibly energy efficient washer which is one thing I definitely wanted (compared ES use ratings). 2hrs to complete the normal cycle which uses the least water. The bottom panel by the floor is gray but not stainless steel. It goes back further than my bottom piece of base wood molding but all in all not a big deal. I researched and compared so many dishwashers and got this one based on brand, looks, energy effiency, price, and fact I didn't need alot of fancy features. So far I have been very pleased with my decision. I also looked at some similar washers but didn't choose them b/c they did not have self- cleaning filter or grinder like this one does. My dishes have never been so clean!
Yes, I recommend this product.

World's Worst Dishwasher

This purchase could not have been a worse one. After I did so much research, I am thoroughly disappointed that I came to the awful decision to purchase this dishwasher. I chose it due to its quiet rating, the apparent sturdiness of the racks and its being a higher-end model. Firstly, it isn't that quiet. Next, the racks might be sturdy, but they are IMPOSSIBLE to stack with dishes, as the slots are only slanted on one side of the machine. On the other side, the slots are straight up and down. Who has completely flat dishes? Every time you pull out the bottom rack, all of the dishes fall over and you have to reset them upright in their slots. This only happens on the side where the slots are not slanted. If you pull the rack out too far, it comes completely off its track and you have to manually lift it back onto its track. I HATE this machine and it is the poorest design imaginable. I wish I'd never bought it. I truly feel I wasted $800.00 and am very disappointed that anyone would design such a ridiculously inept machine. Oh, really love the TWO HOUR wash cycle, which you cannot shorten!! DISAPPOINTMENT - DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!

I researched this model well also! As stated, in some of the other reviews, it is rated very high by consumer reports and other similar publications. At first I did have trouble with the dishes not being dried completly, but soon found out that just using jet dry and adjusting it to the proper setting took care of that and the dishes are dry as a bone.
Both my wife and I think it is very quiet. Sometimes, if we start it mid-day instead of using the delay feature, we don't realize it is even running until it drains or is refilling with water.
From some of the complaints in the bad reviews I've read, it sounds like improper installation or inadequate plumbing/electrical supply. The burnt motors could be from power surges and plumbing noises can be from improperly installed plumbing hook ups or just bad home plumbing. To be fair, I installed the dishwasher myself and made sure the unit was completly leveled and followed the installation recomendations from LG. Make sure the installer takes the time to do this. The only noises of water I hear come when the machine is filling. It is very slight, and can only hear it when I am in very close proximity to the dishwasher. It sounds no different then if the washing machine was filling or the outside hose was running. When it drains, there is a slight gurgle noise, but that can be resolved by placing a drain basket or plug in the drain of the sink. Even without a basket/plug in place, it is very minimal noise.
As far as the bottom rack rolling out, or sliding off, I agree it is a deffect. If we only have half a load or less of dishes, we put it all on the top rack and run the top rack feature only. If dirty dishes are in an air tight ,damp container for a few days they are going to give off a moldy smell no matter what dishwasher it is in. One of my complaints is the grey toe kick trim on the bottom. If this is a replacement dishwasher, you will need to cover up the toe kick to match the rest of the kitchen.
Some good features are the very deep racks. You can put very large bowls and stock pots in the bottom, and in some cases the top.
For a higher end dishwasher under $1,000, it is a great deal.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Motor went out 1 year and 2 months after purchased date. It was installed and running for only 8 months when the motor burnt out. Repair man said he had replaced several motors in this make and model of dishwasher. There are only 2 of us and we travel a lot so it does not get heavy use--not even normal use! Now 4 months later the motor is going out again. We're buying a new dishwasher this week. Do NOT buy this dishwasher.

My husband and I bought this dishwasher back in March, but didn't start using it until our kitchen remodel was done in July. We're a mixed bag as far as our review of it goes. I love it! It provides more space than our previous dishwasher, is much quieter and just plain looks better.
My husband has a couple complaints though. He doesn't like how the bottom shelf will slide far enough out over the door that it comes completely off the track. He has a hard time getting it back in once it does, even though I don't have this problem. He also complains about hearing the water that is pumped into the dishwasher early in its cycle. It can be heard, but I didn't have the expectation that the machine would be totally silent, so this didn't bother me.
Our only combined complaint is about the smell. We've noticed a slightly moldy smell when dishes have been in too long before it was run. Since it's just the two of us, it can take 2-3 days for it to fill up and the smell by then is sometimes unbearable. I'm not sure if it's just because it's new, or because of the stainless interior.
Yes, I recommend this product.

The dishwasher cleans well, is quiet and looks great! I would recommend to any of my friends. Few drawbacks that I'm willing to live with...It does not dry the dishes best, there is some water on top of glasses if you want to remove immediately after the cycle is complete. There is no clean indicator light. It did leave spots with casade complete powder, but we use the individual packets and filled the rinse agent and are very satified.
Installation tip, don't try to do using standard tubing, spend the $5 or 10 bucks to get the flexible wire, besides the flex tubing comes with the elbow to connect to dishwasher. installation is a zip. Also don't forget to install the rear leg height adjuster.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I researched dishwashers in consumer reports and on-line reviews and this model was rated very well everywhere and has not come even close to what was said about it. The 1st one we got had to be replaced because it didn't dry anything and nothing came clean - to the point that I chose to hand wash dishes over the holidays because there was no point in using it. Our 2nd one is supposed to be an improved version for drainage (thought we were getting lucky there) but is close to as bad. This dishwasher does not have a heated dry cycle which translates to two things - if the door to the dishwasher is opened after the cycle starts, even 30 seconds after, NOTHING WILL DRY & when the chime sounds that the cycle is over the dishes will not be dry - you have to wait at least a couple hours to get to the point where you are only drying plastic. The dishwasher also DOES NOT CLEAN WELL. I read multiple reviews that said you don't even have to rinse dishes with this model which was one reason I thought spending more money to get it would be worth it - so not true! Plastic has to be clean going in to be clean coming out and everything else has to be rinsed if not scrubbed because things like dried ketchup will not come off a plate otherwise. I really tried to make this thing work well, to the point that one repair person suggested that I wipe the entire inside tub with jet dry to prevent the water from sticking to it which is supposed to help the drying - didn't work (and I live in Phoenix where there is no humidity so it's really pathetic that it can't dry well!) I tried more, less and different detergent as directed by repair people and my dishes still come out needing to be rewashed. I stongly urge you NOT to buy this dishwasher so you don't end up like me - irritated every time I'm prewashing and rewashing because I could have bought a much less expensive dishwasher to get those results!
No, I do not recommend this product.

My husband and I recently bought our first home, and we had to purchase all of our appliances. We wanted to save money any way we could. However, we wanted to purchase appliances that would increase our homes worth.
This stainless steel dishwasher added such a great modern touch to our kitchen, and we are so happy we spent that extra amount for the stainless steel feature. It is super quite, and we don't have to spend so much money on special dishwasher soap- because our dishes come out SPARKLING EVERY TIME! I was so tired of "pre rinsing" this solved the problem. We are 100% satisfied- stop researching- this is the one to buy!
