I bought this ballast to replace a failed magnetic T12 ballast. It works and fits the old mounting holes in the fixture. However, the instruction sheet from GE states the following: "This Ballast should only be installed in a commercial environment. Do NOT install this ballast in a residential environment". Considering that I bought this at "Home" Depot, it would have been nice to at least have had a warning before purchase that it is not suitable for home use. The instructions were not readable until the package was opened. I installed it anyway because the issue related to radio frequency interference and FCC compliance and my fixture is in a little used bedroom closet so was not too concerned.
Cons: not for home use

Review 2 for 2-Lamp Rapid Start Ballast for 4 ft. T12 Fluorescent Lamps
Easy hookup with wire pre-stripped. I am not sure if it is my fixture's "fault" or this item, but the ballast was about 1/8 inch longer than the old one and I had to grind down the retaining screw and eventually the flange on the ballast to get it to fit. Plenty of wire included. Works fine... not much else to say.

Review 3 for 2-Lamp Rapid Start Ballast for 4 ft. T12 Fluorescent Lamps
Was shopping for a replacement ballast for my fluorescent lamps and stumbled upon this one. It didn't look exactly like my previous magnetic ballast so I was a bit worried that it would not work. Reading the negative reviews also gave me less confidence, but couldn't resist the price. When I got them, the ballasts were much more compact. It still fit perfectly where my old ballast were. Had to be careful of how I cut my previous ballast wires because the wires that came with the ballast may be just long enough depending on which way you face them in the light fixture mount.
Being electronic, I can expect the lights to use less energy now. It also doesn't have a loud hum associated with the magnetic ones. Lights turns on quickly so if anybody has a slow "light on" response after installing it, consider returning them back for a new one. I did not know the difference 10 years ago when I bought a light fixture from another building supplier (won't say which one). It took almost 10 seconds to come on even when it was brand new. Changed the ballast to this one and now - Voila! Instant on!!!
Don't forget to buy some wire nuts too if you are doing this as a DIY project!!!
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight, Fast / Speed, Eco-Friendly
Cons: wiring might be a bit short
