I snapped off a 1/2" breaker bar and was about to snap a second while trying to remove a stubborn axle nut. Enough was enough, i went compressor shopping. After looking at a few stores and comparing cfm's and psi, i decided on this one. I grabbed a 1/2" husky impact and this compressor, headed home and had the axle nut off in 10 minutes. Wouldn't take it off with the 90 psi the impact was rated at, but was easy to crank up the psi and get it off. I know diesel mechanics that run their impacts at 200 psi, i only had to go to 160. Sweet little compressor, well worth the money. Not as bulky in my home garage either.

I've completed many projects with this compressor including painting a log splitter (3 consecutive coats with moderate struggle), airing up trailers w/o a problem, and changing tires as well. If I were given the decision to buy another air compressor, I'd go with an Ingersoll Rand 60 gal for 5-6something bills just because I would want the ability to continuously sand blast. The drain valve broke (just the plastic lever) so I'll see how Dewalt handles that. It is a bit loud in the shop but I tend to deal with it. 4 stars because it had a defect.

I HAVE HAD 2 - D55168 COMPRESSORS. I LIKE THEM VERY MUCH. MY FIRST ONE QUITE AFTER 8 MONTHS. TOOK IT BACK AND GOT ANOTHER ONE. IT WORKED AWSOME, THEN 11 MONTHS LATER IT QUITE WORKING.
PROS: THEY ARE FAIRLY QUITE, PUMP UP QUICK. EASY TO STORE BECAUSE OF SIZE. WHEN THEY WORK IT PREFORMS VERY GOOD.
CONS: BOTH COMPRESSORS QUITE WORKING. THE STATOR HAS A PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL GET THIS FIXED.

I have had this compressor now for a year. I keep it in my garage and was shopping for an affordable compressor that could run off of a 120v ac wall plug. I also needed a compressor that was NOT a giant sized monster in my garage at home.
Finally, I needed a compressor that could give me the 120 continuous p.s.i. needed to power my Miller 375 X-Treme plasma cutter. Well, I cut a lot of steel and this compressor keeps up no problem. Most plasma cutters only require about 90PSI so I was afraid that this compressor wouldn't live up to it's advertisment of delivering the C.F.M for my cutter. Well, it's gone above and beyond what I expected. Yes it's a bit loud and I wear hearing protection while it's running in the garage. Or, I just wheel it outside the garage for a quieter work environment. It's easy to wheel around with the NICE rubber wheel kit already installed.
It's important to drain any compressor tank routinely because of water accumulation at the bottom. This tank has a handy drain valve. I also spent $20.00 on a compressor water seperater/filter just to protect my impact tools. Well worth the money. Nice, compact, plenty of air for the DIYer, shade tree mechanic or painter that has some light to medium duty jobs to complete. I highly highly highly recommend this quality compressor.
Compared to more expensive compressors that are smaller or not big enough, this one is a serious bargain!!!

It is easier to handle than the smaller twin tank units. The extra PSI & volume are needed to run a plasma cutter.

I purchased this compressor about a month ago. I wanted to use it a few times before I wrote my review.
When it's turned on, it takes about 5 minutes to go from 0 psi to full load. Though the instructions say it only goes to 200lbs, mine seems to run till it's around 210 psi. The compressor kicks on when the tank pressure goes below 180 psi, so there is never a lack of pressure in the tank.
I used this compressor to run a 375lb Husky 1/2 Impact wrench to rotate my tires yesterday. I was able to take roughly 9 lug nuts off before the compressor kicked on. But my impact wrench runs on 90 psi, so I probably could have done all 4 wheels without needing it to run again.
It's easily portable, works well, and has the capacity and pressure of compressors twice it's size. I would definitely recommend this compressor to anyone that needs to power mechanic's air tools, nail guns, or a paint sprayer.

So the first question is oil less, right. Here the scoop I found, just searching the web. One feller said he called Dewalt and was convinced that compressor technology has advanced with some kind of coating on piston and cyl. Another interesting thing was, this is where db"s come in, but this motor is considered low rpm,1750 long pump life. Other oil- less was like 3685 rpm or something. I also read that Dewalt purchased the Emglo co. I believe this also, my copressor only says Dewalt on it and the customer no longer is required to break in motor. I called to check also cause of the reveiws about it. No free shipping but decent speed, the package is shipped sub contracted, they then sub contract even another shipper though. No big deal, order on mon. recieved fri. First out of box did my own lil break in ran 5 w/ drain open, closed it and looked at watch. total of 5 min from 0 to 200. Quick to fill to round 110 after it slowed and ran bit. It does what it says 200. Sounds more like high power shop vac with the air cooling fan on elect. motor, with the familiar compressor motor also. Still quieter than most. One reveiw was that gauges dont zero out when empty, not a biggie still seem accurate. Set at 80 flush drove my framer, advanced to 90 and it drove just past flush. This is as far as I can say on performance, but will post again after I finsh building and paint with it. Drain is lil bit hard to access, but with the versatility of using one mid size compressor that can handle small nailers, impacts, and sprayers. Also oil-less, quieter, and more air volume in a smaller tank. I happily order and paid for shipping. Now the cons are the tires dont actually hold air but desent, and I wish they had two air outputs and could of used some of the nice looking tank and welded some baskets for misc air supplys. And power cord all of 6 ft. Probably going to need a cord winder for that bad boy.

This thing will make a quality air tool such as an IR perform at its peak like it was designed to do. I had a Husky 20 gallon compressor that had problems removing 50% of the lug nuts I had to remove off of my trucks and other vehicles. With the DeWalt 15 gallon compressor not one lug nut stood a chance they were zip off at high speed in a matter of seconds. This heavy duty compressor is worth the money! I'm finally satisfied.

I have owned this compressor for three years now and have had no problems whatsoever. It has been used for everything from filling tires to powering angle grinders and nail guns of all types. It has plenty of reserve air at operating pressure for just about any single air tool. It performs like larger compressors I have used in the past. If it died today, I would not hesitate to buy another.

Brought this unit home and broke it in for about 20 mintues. Later on that day used it to work on my vehicle. It took the factory bolt off a differential of an 87 samurai in less than 10 seconds. Was cautious at first about buying a smaller compressor but this unit is well worth the money. Blew me away.

We have been running this compressor for over six months continuously for an application in the lab. Seriously, we're drawing compressed air from it 24/7. It has to come on about once every 20 minutes to keep up with the air flow. It has performed flawlessly. We're very impressed.

My previous antiquated speed air 60 gallon compressor smoked its motor and shocked my son during the process. This little guy takes a third of the space and has met all my pneumatic tool needs since its purchase. I am a little skeptical if my cut off wheel will run as well as it did on the old behemoth. Motor is quiet.

I thought this compressor was going to be a little too small to paint my car. We tried it out last night with 2 coats of primer and it performed and lasted beautifully. This compressor is like having a 25+ gallon tank. It is very much worth the price. It only takes about 5 minutes to fill from 0 to 200psi and about 1.5 mins from 150 to 200psi. That is short enough for me.

I did alot of research and read alot of reviews from people that had bought this compressor, I was a little skeptical at first but I don't regret buying it, for home projects and for taking care of car and bike tires it works great, I've already had it for 2 months and no problems with it at all, the only thing that I don't like is the auto/on-off switch feels real cheap. Also when you have it in auto mode the compressor turns on at maybe 180 PSI, it should turn on when it reaches maybe at least at 100 PSI.

I did a lot of research on a lot of different Air Compressor out there in the market and this Dewal is the one for me. It's like having a 60 or more gallon air compressor in your garage. Sometimes it feels like it more powerful than the one I'm using at my work. This 15 gallon beast is a little pricey (I paid $375 for mine), but it's worth every dollar for it and I can tell you right now it won't disappoint you. The 200 PSI is great and way enough PSI for all my tool and it filled up the tank it less that 10 minutes. I'm so impress of is performance, I already sanded one of my car, primed it and just got done painting tonight. The whole time I was working on it, I had no problem of losing air. It continuously fills up once it drop in certain pressure. Now I know, I was in my garage for at least 3 to 5 hour straight and I only got this compressor for about week now. I think this compressor will last me for a long. So if your looking for a powerful compressor and that don't take that much space. This one is all your gonna need for the small or big jobs in your house.

First day I got this and I could not believe how quiet it is compared to my pancake compressor both day & night and the 200 psi really helps with all my air tools and its also great for cleaning around those hard to reach areas & just keeping the power tools clean from dust. Overall I'm very satisfied with its performance and it has been only a few days but I'm sure it will last a long time! Oh yeah the color is cool and the 15 gallon tank on wheels is really handy if you need to get from one place to another! Thanks Home Depot for a great price too!
