A guy who likes an appliance,

"Ok, seriously. I'm not one of these guys that writes reviews about appliances. I am one that reads them, though.
When our old dishwasher of 18 years started to make horrible noises, we searched for its replacement. I saw this model at Home Depot and thought it looked cool with the buttons on the top (clearly the “cool factor” rates high). I really liked the idea of putting a whole jug of dishwasher detergent in and just call it a day after that (I’m a guy, after all). Besides it's advertised as being super quiet (something our old one definitely wasn't). But we kept shopping around and I started reading reviews. One or two reviews said something about it not doing a good job cleaning. In the end, we bought it though.
We've had it now for about a month. It does an amazing job! Super quiet (no kidding, my wife has seen me putting my hand on the door or putting my ear next to it since I couldn’t tell if it was running). I’m also old school – I used to prewash the dishes before loading them in. It’s a habit I’ve had for 20 years. My wife (she’s the one that obviously has the brains) kept telling me to stop it. So I did. It was a tough habit to break. So I started taking the dishes after dinner straight from the table and putting it in. I threw a couple of the pots in as well. They all came out clean!
I’m still having a tough time breaking the don’t-prewash-the-dishes thing. But now it’s a challenge with me: seeing what doesn’t get cleaned and so far, this dishwasher has won that contest every time (and I've put it to a real "guy-test":spaghetti sauce, cooked on stuff, etc)
Again, I don’t normally write these kinds of things but I got to tell you, this has worked better than I could have imagined.
Now if only I could find a stainless steel beer dispenser with buttons..

Great dishwasher for style and price,

"I researched for a new dishwasher for many years when I purchased my home, and compared GE Profile appliances with Jenn Air, Bosch, and Kenmore Elite. My mother recently remodeled her kitchen with GE Profile stainless steel appliances, which attracted me to solely research GE. The first detail about this dishwasher that I liked was the handle, it is fully assembled directly to the dishwasher door, has a nice sleek look with functionality so that you can hang a dishtowel as preferred.
I have a toddler and she eats with plastic reusable dishes, and this dishwasher has cleaned caked on pasta, fruit snacks, and dried fruit without leaving any residue. The plastic cups, bowls, plates, and straws did not flip over or move during the cleaning cycle like they would with my previous dishwasher.
I also have left the dishes alone for a night after cooking red spaghetti sauce, boiled pasta, and fried chicken grease, and the dishwasher cleaned all the food particles off the pots, pans, china, and silverware using the the cookware cycle, smart dispenser and heat on.
Some let downs of this dishwasher was using the rinse cycle without turning the "heat on" feature; the dishes were completely dripping wet and there were puddles of water on the dishes. When I used the loose powder dishwasher soap, there were many soap scum residue on the dishes and door. However, when I used the Electrosol tablets in the powder dispenser, the dishes were cleaned well and did not leave any film on the dishes. Lastly, when I use the liquid Cascade dishwasher soap in the Smart Dispenser, the dishes were completely clean and spotless. When I tested each cycle, I used the heat on feature to dry the dishes .
As for the overall function of the dishwasher, I would highly recommend this product even though it does not have a "time remaining" feature since at the end of the cycle, there is an audible signal and a green light that turns on when the cycle is complete. The dishwasher interior is deep, and dishes need to be placed in its proper formation on the racks to clean well and dry completely without leaving puddles of water in curves to some dishes.
I hope this experience helps with your decision making. Good luck!

Love it!,

"Have had this for a month, and just love it! Very quiet, cleans everything beautifully. Lots of room since there isn't a center sprayer, so we need to run it less often. It's also beautiful to look at, any fingerprints wipe off with a damp towel."

doesn't wash dishes,
June 5, 2007
By NickSC

"My experience ("quotable quotes from GE customer support")
Any food particle left on the dish is not cleaned off, it becomes hard as a rock at the end of the cycle due to being baked in the dry cycle
("dishwashers aren't supposed to clean food off dishes - you need to take a wet paper towel and wipe of all excess food from your dish and then load it in the dishwasher";)
("any part of the dish that isn't directly exposed to the wash arms isn't supposed to be cleaned, you should load your dishes flat down facing the wash arms to be cleaned")
This makes the dishwasher suitable for a bachelor who doesn't cook.
Dishes get a black stain and powdery film on them after washing. ("I have checked your dishwasher, the arms are moving, water is flowing, it is draining ok, it is working to specifications; try using jet dry (we have done this with no improvement) I have cleaned the strain at the bottom of the dishwasher").
Oh so besides washing the dishes completely before loading you should also clean the stain at the bottom of the dishwasher.
Our previous 400 dollar dishwasher did a better job cleaning dishes."

"Wonderful addition to the kitchen! Washes off baked on foods and leaves dishes spotless. The smart despense is a wonderful invention. Just load the dishes, push start, and the work is over. The only downside to the smart despense is that occasionally some dishwashing liquid runs out of the holding area into the inside of the dishwasher. This causes no problems, just shows up on the inside of the door. The dishwasher is very quite and you hardly know it is running. I would recommend this to anyone."
