Great washer for the money!,
March 5, 2007
By ProudArmywife

"I have had this washer for almost a month and LOVE it! It is SO quiet (at least compared to my older model which sounded like it was headed to the moon). I actually thought that it was not working properly at first because it was so quiet. The basin is large enough for my king sized sheets and mattress pad (previously took 2 loads) and it seems to get the clothes quite clean. I love the digital screen that shows how much time is left on the load. I also love the PerfecTemp feature that will heat up the water to the ideal temperature for cleaning the clothes (even on the cold cycle... perfect when the temps outside make the water inside super cold). I also like that you can turn that feature off if you want! Overall, I highly recommend this machine (and the dryer that matches!)."

GE Profile 3.5 Cu. foot Washer,
November 2, 2006
By KristineH
from California
"LOVE this washing machine. I've had it for about a month, and have been very pleased with how clean it gets even my dirtiest loads of laundry. It's a quiet machine - the only sound it makes is an occasional whoooshing sound, very subtle. It looks great in my laundry room, and has a stainless steel basket, huge capacity, and infinite water level settings - very handy. It also tells you how long your wash will take with a digital display/countdown timer. Cool! Haven't found any drawbacks or disadvantages after a month of very heavy useage."

"I bought this washer in January 2009. After reading such good reviews about this washer we purchased it. BIG MISTAKE! For one thing my whites don't come clean even with clorox. I've even tried using the more expensive laundry soap but nothing helps. In July (09) six months after we purchased it, it started making a clicking noise while agitating then all of a sudden it stopped working. It was under warranty so after TWO WEEKS I finally got the motor replaced. Good thing I also purchased the extended warranty, I have a feeling I will be using it quite a bit. My husband and I aren't rich so this was a major investment for us and a learning experience at that. If I could afford it, I would take this to the salvation army and purchase a different machine and definitely not a GE. So any of you that are reading reviews trying to decide which machine to buy, I advise you NOT to buy this one."

AWESOME WASHER!!!!,
September 7, 2009
By Mully

"After doing a lot of research with Consumer Reports and online reviews, we purchased this washer(WPRE6100GWT) on the internet because none were available for display anymore. The reviews were right, this is a great washing machine. It is VERY quiet but it still has an agitator and offers several water levels to make sure your soap desolves and cloths are saturated. The optional 2nd spin cycle, 2nd rinse cycles are great and the timer lets you know exactly how long each added cycle changes the washes total time. After a month of owning this unit I have only positive comments. Even thought this is a old model (2007), the reviews about the new 6150 sounded too bad for me to gamble on trying it. A "Energy Star" rating is important to me( low water and energy usage!) but first and foremost a washer must wash and the 6100 does an awesome job!!!
Only found online! Purchased for $599 w/free shipping, installation, and old unit removal through Home Depot.

Is the washing machine on?,
July 6, 2009
By mamatabe
from cincinnati ohio
"This washer is so very quiet, I have to check to see if it is on! There is a timer on the machine that is very convient.
There are a variety of settings that ensure a clean load of laundry while also only using the amount of water needed. The spin cycle even gets my towels ready for the dryer so that I don't need to add additional drying time.
My clothes and towels feel much softer after using this washer. I would highly recommend this washer.

NOT AS QUITE AS THE KEMORE QUITE PAK,
May 18, 2009
By JOEFIXS
from CINCINNATI,OH
"THIS WASHER IS NOT AS QUITE AS MY OLD KEMORE QUITE PAK AND IS BELT DRIVEN (HURRAY) I WAS TRIED OF REPLACING THE PLASTIC COUPLER THAT BROKE ABOUT EVERY TWO YEARS. (ON THE BAD SIDE OF THE GE PROFILE ) IF YOU WAIT TO LONG TO PUT THE LID DOWN AT THE BEGINNING ,AFTER THE WATER FILLS, YOU WILL COME BACK FIND THE WATER HAS DRAINED OUT. I ALSO FOUND A LARGE LOAD OF TOWELS WILL HAVE TO BE SET THROUGH A SECOND SPIN. THEY ARE TOO WET TO PUT IN THE DRYER EVEN ON THE EXTENDED SPIN.
LAST, FORGET ABOUT A SHORT WASH CYCLE. 38 MINUTES IS THE SHORTEST COMPLETE CYCLE.
THE WASHER DOES THE JOB AND GETS THE CLOTHES CLEAN.

GE & Home Depot Rock!! SATISFIED 100%,
April 13, 2009
By Altria7

"Very impressed so far. I have always had GE appliances and love the longevity of the product. Shopped for several weeks and this machine is definately worth every cent. Not the high end but not the bottom either. Just the right amount of features without overkill. Extremely quiet and works well. Home Depot set up the delivery and installation, took the old one away. Very efficient guys. Were in and out in approx. 20 minutes."

VERY DISAPPOINTED,
January 26, 2009
By Generic23

"I coundn't believe how disappointed I have been in this washer after reading all the great reviews. I was so excited about getting a great washer. I picked one up for $400 that had been returned. I am not exactly sure what this "HYDROWAVE" is supposed to be doing. I never add the detergent first. I know it is recommended, but not necessary. I fill this washer about 2/3 full of clothes and put the water past large and 10 minutes later the soap is still on top and clothes are barely shaking. I am going to buy a basic washer. I have talked to friends and most people are usually disappointed in higher end models. They look nice, but it usually ends there. It is a lot harder to deal with a dead $1000 washer v/s a $300 washer after a few years. Good luck!"

"I was amazed how quiet the machine is. A person has to look to see if it is working or not. I am very pleased on the quality of the machine. I give it a "10" excellent grade.I like that you can put hand washables in it where it cuts down my time of doing that chore myself.
An excellent machine that is definately worth the price spent.

Washer Problems,
December 27, 2008
By Anonymous
from Solon, OH
"When I first purchased this washer, I was very pleased. However, after about 3 months, it was no longer "silent" when it would wash; it would swish the water and then make a clicking sound. Shortly after that, I noticed the washer was dripping water from the back. I called GE's customer service. They were very helpful and scheduled a service call. (NOTE: They do not perform service on Saturday, so I had to miss a day of work.) The technician arrived and knew exactly what it was based on my description. He had to take the entire unit apart and replace the motor. He said he has seen this problem numerous times and now keeps two motors on hand in his van at all times. When you purchase a new appliance, its motor should not need to replaced after three months. I would, most likely, not purchase another GE appliance based on this. I had a Maytag before this and would go back to that."

"What a great machine! I was amazed that a washer can agitate without a sound other than swishing water. At first, I honestly didn't think the machine was working. The speed of the spin cycle seems much faster than any other top loader I have owned and with the extended spin time option, the clothes come out much drier than older models - this in turn has cut my drying time by about 30%! I have only had this machine for a month so extended quality remains to be seen but so far, I'm very satisfied with this purchase."

Truly Awesome,
October 8, 2007
By George1
"I usually dont write reviews,BUT I just purchased this washer and matching dryer--AWESOME! I was hesitant about the hydrowave wash , BUT after seeing it work I am amazed. If you leave the lid open and put a magnet on the magnetic contact you can watch it wash. The hydrowave wash is soooo much better it goes 360 degrees one way and then back the other way . Thus pulling the clothes through the water. It actually makes waves and washes much better and gentler then regular agitation. GE should do some serious advertising on this beacuse it is great.
I also love the perfect temp and variable water levels, BUT extended spin is the best! Anyone hesitating on buying this machine DONT it is great! Really nice looking too and SOOOO quiet!

Love my washer,
August 22, 2007
By Mony20
from Ft. Worth, TX
"The only other washer I would prefer over my GE would be the GE front loader. The stainless steel basket looks and smells cleaner than any the traditional baskets. The machine is so quiet I leave my laundry room door open and the machines (I have the dryer as well) do not disrupt the household in anyway. For the cost and style I would rate this machine as the best I have ever owned (I have had about four different washers so far). So if you cannot afford the front loader the GE King Size Capacity will do just fine."

"We've used this washer for about 2 months...LOVE it! It's so quiet, too! We read other reviews that said they thought it was broken, it was so quiet, & we thought the same thing, too! We kept opening it to find that it was doing it's job perfectly. We have it in our kitchen, so it was important that it looked good, too. Now we want the matching dryer! Overall, very reliable & does a great job."
