Get a different machine,
November 27, 2007
"I replaced a 15+ year old Kenmore washer and dryer. I wish I had just had the dryer serviced because they were still in great working order, and they worked better than these have ever worked. First off, the machine is really quiet, I will give it that. Those of you who have found it loud on the high spins, it is not completely level. The biggest thing is that it must be designed to wash really small loads because when I put in what I think is an average size load, and I am by no means cramming it, really a regular sized load, it often doesn't seem to clean very well. I've had stuff come out still smelling dirty, and it doesn't do very well with stains either. The cycles take a really long time too. I hate this one a little bit less than I hate the dryer, but if you're considering this pair, see my review about the dryer before you buy. Purchasing this set was the biggest mistake I've made, and I'm still making payments on it, so I'm stuck with it for a while."

Great Product,
September 18, 2007
"I had a older Maytag Neptunr that was a problem item for the first fe years we had it. But after 5 years if finally had to go. I did ny homework by checking reviews and prices, I found that the Epic was the most bang for the Dollar. We have had it for 3 weeks now and It has been a very, very cost effective quiet machine, Yes t maybe alittle noiser on the high spin cycle. But face it.. that tub really spins fast. When I place things in dryer. It is almost dry. we reduced dry times by 40% Great comeback Maytag from the terrible Neptune"

Smart Washer,
September 6, 2007
"This should have been called the "Smart Washer" as this is the most efficient washer to date. This washer knows exactly how much water to use and you only need a small amount of detergent, bleach, etc. for your clothes to be cleaned. Both my water and electric bill have decreased in the few months I have had this washer. This is definitely the best applicance investments I have ever made."

Mine is not noisy at all,
February 26, 2007
"I bought this Maytag December 06 because our 13 yr old Maytag finally broke down. At first I was a little nervous because of the first reviewer's stating that it is noisy at high spins. To my pleasant surprise, this washer couldn't be any quieter. I watched the delivery person's installation -- he used a leveler to make sure the washer is completely level before and after tightening the feet (the guy spent over 10 minutes with this alone). Maybe this is the difference maker?
Whatever the case, this washer is very quiet for us. No bad smell or mold issues. And I have to admit that our clothes are much whiter and cleaner."

Aweome Washing Machine!!!,
February 11, 2007
"I recently replaced an older Kenmore dryer and a high capacity Whirlpool top loader with the EPIC 9700 washer and dryer. The difference in performance is like night and day. While my old top loader would practically tie my jeans into knots on large loads, the EPIC is incredibly gentle on my clothes. The EPIC uses far less water, less detergent, cleans the clothes noticeably better, washes significantly larger loads and spin drys better. Because the spin dry works so well, the clothes dry faster in the dryer and since the clothes didn’t get tied into knots in the washer, they come out of the dryer with fewer wrinkles.
While my laundry room is just off my family room, noise is also a big factor. My old machine was incredibly loud and even with the laundry room door closed; it was terrible to listen to from the family room. The EPIC is so quiet I can hardly hear it washing when I’m standing in front of it. The previous poster mentioned a noise problem on the high speed spin but I have not experienced anything like that. My laundry room has a poured slab floor so it’s rock solid and there is no excess noise or vibrations in any setting. The bottom line is: these units really are worth the extra money. I’m very, very impressed."

Cleans clothes but noisy,
December 1, 2006
"Bought Maytag Epic Washer and Dryer 3 months ago replacing Kenmore top load washer and front load dryer. Build and finish of this washer is pretty good and both washer and dryer are easy to use. The only thing I don't like is with the washer. At "high" "extra high" spin cycle, the washer can get very noisy and would vibrate the floor and walls in the laundry room. I even checked to make sure the washer is level too and four locking nuts at the feet are tightened too. My sister has Neptune model and hers wasn't as loud as my Epic model which is a higher model and supposedly has less noise level. If I could give it, I would give this washer a 3.5 stars."
