Does what it says. Replaced 2 burned out fans in about 15 minutes with most time vacuuming out dust. This whole kit was cheaper than just a motor. That's nice but it would be better if the motor was just available cheaper. New vent cover looks good. Only negative (for environment) is that they include 2 metal housing plates so you end up with one extra new plate plus your old components--sad for the landfill.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This almost did the job. I have two, Broan, bath fans and one of them was acting up. I saw this upgrade kit, and read the reviews. Sounded like what I needed. I bought two kits, and planned to install one to see if it would work. I got one in, but it's not exactly what I expected.
1. Installation is EASY...unscrew old one and pull it out. Slide in new fan, plug in, and done.
2. The current housing leaves a 3/4" gap with the new motor mount provided. I put some duct tape over the gap.
3. Grill that is provided fits my opening. It's slightly rectangular, and would fit better lengthwise, but the spring clips would not line up.
Bottom line: Check what model your current fan is, and take some measurements.
My old motor mount is 8" x 8" square, with two tabs. The kit has the same size but the tabs and the one mounting screw, don't line up in my existing housing.
This is a great kit, but it's not an exact fit for my old housing.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We replaced our 1/2 bath fan inards with this upgrade kit but used the original cover since the new cover is too see-thru (the fan is on the wall not the ceiling so covering it was important to us). The new motor works well and is much quieter than the old. Installation took less than 30 minutes.

Replaced two 15 year old fans with this kit in the house. The main factor was that all the new fans are bigger and would require that I cut holes in the ceiling. The old fan said 2.5 sones and this one said 3.0, but to my ear this unit is slightly quieter. The unit that I replaced was a Mercury by Nutone model C-350C2N B, and it was a perfect fit.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this product available. I needed to replace a 20-year old Broan fan. I could have replaced the motor for $30 or buy this upgrade kit for $28.45.
It was literally a 10 min. upgrade. The template was an exact fit for my existing installation, so all I had to do was unscrew 1 screw to remove my old fan. Then, choose the matching template in the upgrade kit, screw the motor/fan to the template, insert it back into the existing hole in the ceiling and secure it with a screw.
It doesn't get much easier. Just make sure you measure your existing opening first and confirm that this upgrade will fit.

The box showed two types of grilles that would be used on fans this upgrade would fit. My NuTone Mercury fan was not listed on the box but the grille matched the illustration. It fit just fine and installed quickly, as the other reviewers have said.

It looks like a great product, however the description for the product fails to mention that it is not for all Nutone Fans. You should read the box and use that description in your on line ad.
It doesn't work for mine....

I purchased this to upgrade a NuTone 695ND-B that had stopped working after 14 yrs. I'm really impressed by this 690T. It was really easy and fast (>10 minutes) to install, is incredibly quiet and has great air flow. I'll be upgrading the 3 other fans in my house with this one...won't even wait for them to fail.

With this part I was easily able to repair a bathroom exhaust fan that had a burned out motor. The only tools needed were a screwdriver and the included wrench. The job in total took about 10 minutes. The fan is nice and quiet and has good airflow with an attractive cover.

I'm doing a complete remodel of my master bath, so all 4 family members have been using the hall bath (approx 35 square feet). That has lead to a lot of moisture in the air each morning, to the point where we were starting to see moisture on the walls. I spent the $30 on this upgrade kit and it has dramatically improved the air circulation. As an added bonus the fan is much more quiet than before. The whole installation took about 10 minutes. 5 minutes to read the instructions and 5 minutes to actually do the work. Thumbs-up!

at some point i plan on doing a complete bathroom renovation, but the defunct fan in my bathroom needed a temporary fix in the meantime and this upgrade kit seemed like the most economically feasible way to go. It took just under 2 hours to mess around with the existing housing to get the plate to stay up. Had to mess a little with the wiring for the fan, and punch a hole in the housing and add a screw for the plate to stay in place. But in the end, i got the whole thing securely in place in the old housing blowing the moisture from the bathroom out of the house. the cover looks cheap, but whatever, you paid less than $40. I plan on getting a top of the line fan with zero sones when i completely renovate. But for now, this will do.

very good product, instructions were easy to follow. installation simple. only problem I had was a buzzing noise, that turned out to be some take I had added when I had last repaired the electrical socket. once I figured it out it was clear sailing. Upgrade is worth the price, quieter and moves more air

My husband kept insisting that fixing the bathroom fan would involve climbing around the attic and tearing things apart. Finally after the fan was really dying, I went to Home Depot and was pleasantly surprised that we could just replace the mechanical part of the fan! Now I have a fan that is quieter and works better than ever before with very little money or work! Why did we wait so long?

My old Nutone 696 Model B unit died but only the Model D unit is available now (plug is located in a different area). I was faced with going in the attic and tearing out the old box and hope the wiring would reach the new unit. Although the Upgrade Kit was twice the price of a new "stock" unit, it was well worth the time & labor I saved! I spent longer scraping the caked dust out of the old fan box than I did installing the new kit. The only drawback was that the screw hole in the mounting plate I used was 1/16" off, and I had to hog it out with a drill bit. Still easier than going up in the attic though! Contrary to some reviewers' comments, the kit is MUCH quieter than an original "stock" box. I will be replacing the fan in the other bathroom with one of these kits soon!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I am not by any means handy around the house, this was the 2nd time I touched a bathroom fan, but I was amazed how easy this was to install 5 minutes tops, and how quite it is, almost sorry I waited 2 years to fix that fan. Would highly recommend to everyone...even the not so handy like me.
