One Great Humidifier,
February 2, 2010
By ULLRaginCajun76

"This is my first real humidifier. I considered cold mist and warm mist and figured since I only need it in Winter, I'd get the warm mist and not deal with filters.
This one works great, and puts out a lot of steam. I keep it on during the cold days when the central heat is running to counter the drying effects. It easily keeps the humidity level where I set it, usually 45%-50%. on the Medium setting. I haven't needed the High setting yet. Once the setpoint is reached, I turn it down to Low and let it run the remainder of the time. I haven't clocked it, but on Low it will run for a long time before filling is required.
There is some gurgling when it's starting & running, but after a few times you get used to it. Our humidifier is used in the den and neither of us finds the noise objectionable while reading or watching TV.
The tank is very easy to remove, and the bottom (fill) hole is large enough to allow you to insert your hand into the tank to wipe it during cleaning. The tank carrying handle does stick up some, but mine happens to fit just inside the kitchen sink drain and allows the tank to rest flat while filling from the faucet. No leaks, and I just "snug" the cap on the tank. I'd seen issues where it was over-tightened and either leaked or was hard to remove. Doesn't take much force to get a good seal.
Cleaning is simple and easy. Just let it cool, disassemble, rinse, and wipe the parts clean. Haven't had any issues with scaling, but we have soft water here.
The only gotcha is the instruction manual could be better. But the device is pretty simple so you can figure it out. One note: the complex-looking mineral pads do just lay flat on the burner. I had this confirmed by the Honeywell support people. I still haven't figured out why they have these intricate locking folds rather than just a flat pad, but maybe it fits other models requiring a sphere shaped pad.

Fantabulous Humidifier,
January 25, 2010

"The humidy sensor is fairly accurate and the ability to set an on/off threshold I find very useful. I pray that the manufacturer continues this product or something similar.
The only reason I didn't give this item 5 stars is that it didn't have a remote control. (I actually use to have one that did!!)
I own 5 of these and use them in several different rooms.
Without them my wife's nosebleed from being so dry in the winter were disturbing until we purchased these babies. I swear by them!!!

So glad I ignored the bad reviews,
January 23, 2010
By 1Charlie1
"I've had the humidifier for over a week and it has been FLAWLESS. The humidy gauge is accurate and there is no leaking whatsoever. As far as noise, it sounds like a teapot beginning to boil...soothing sound if you ask me. I mean, it is a WARM moist humidifier and that is produced by boiling the water. I couldn't be happier with it.
The only negative I can mention is the claim that the water would last 24 hrs - January in the Northeast is very dry and I would only get about 12-15 hrs out of it. The only solution would be an outlandishly large tank...who would want that?"

Works Great-I love it,
January 23, 2010
By Sue76
from Baltimore, MD
"I have tried other humidifiers, both cold mist and steam, and this one is the best. The cold mist ones I've used leave a puddle b/c the mist doesn't integrate itself into the air. The other cheaper steam one I tried clogged itself too fast and didn't put out as much steam as this one.
This one works great--so great, in fact, that if you leave it on long enough on the highest setting, the room gets damp within a day or less; the sheets got a dampness to them. Of course, the solution is just not to turn it on so high. On the highest setting, the tank gets empty after about 7 hours.
The tank is very easy to remove, carry, and fill. You just grab the handle, and lift it up using only one hand. The unit itself is also easy to carry. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with leaking (so far)."

Never Again,

"I bought this last year and worked fine for 3 months. Had to send it in to get it repaired. Came back - worked good - for 3 weeks. Now the system will not turn on.
I will not buy Honeywell again. I agree with others about excessive cleaning but I could live with that if it worked. Not happy."

Great but Doesn't Last Long,
January 9, 2010
By patchthedog

"I use this humidifier for my orchid rooms. I have owned 6 or 7 of them over 4 years. The element seems to burn out on these systems very quickly. My most recent one hasn't even lasted 4 months and has stopped working. Unfortunately this is one of the few warm humidifiers with humidity control settings as a percentage like 50%. Buy it for specialty activities but be prepared to have them last for a short time."

Excellent Produt,
January 9, 2010
By MEMiller

"I have read several reviews that have lampooned this product. I have used this unit for 2 winters and I have had no problems of any kind. I have no problems with the water tank cap and have had no leaks with the unit. The cap is tighter when the tank is removed for refilling, but I think this is due to the heat the tank adsorbs when the water level gets low. This is an excellent product and performs as advertised."

Great Product,
December 29, 2009
By CABRISC
"This is our second season of heavy use with this model, and it continues to perform like a champ. I do agree with 2 small issues listed above: the cap can be difficult to remove if over-tightened, and you cannot rest it in the sink or tub during filling. Aside from that, it is one of the best humidifiers I have owned. Toss the old filter model, this is a better solution."

Requires Frequent Cleanings,
February 11, 2009
By man910
from Falls Church, VA
"This recent incarnation of Honeywell's humidifier isn't as good as their previous one, the HMW-2030, which I've had for 4 years. This one steams pretty quick but requires frequent cleaning, like every two weeks, to remove the mineral deposits on the heating plate. In my 4 years of ownership with the HMW-2030, I've only cleaned it 4 times. Yeah, there's mineral buildup on the heating element but it still will work without a hitch. The other bad thing with this new model is the design of the water tank. The top is not flat like the old model. When you set it upside down in the sink, it tilts and isn't as stable. I didn't have any issues with the cap. However, I *initially* had leakage from the front and side grills, too. What you have to do is tighten the tube that goes from the heating element to the mist output. For some reason, they didn't assemble that at the factory and it's not in the directions. Once, I locked that tube in place, the leakage issue went away."

Leaking,
January 29, 2009
By BassHyman
from Richmond, VA
"This humidifier is leaking water terribly. Water from the front grill and water from the side grills. I searched for a long time trying to find the right warm mist humidifier and now I'm regreting my purchase. I've called Honeywell and they are sending me a new cap. They are currently out of the caps for 30 days, but will ship one as soon as they come in. So that should tell me something. I like the timer, but I just wish you could put it on continious and not have to reset the hours."

Works good sometimes,
January 19, 2009
By jimbo59404

"I bought this thing about a year and a half ago. We only use for a few months in the winter last winter and maybe a month this winter before it broke for good. The cap is very hard to remove and repace most of the time it still leaks even after i wrench on it. My wife would not be able to refill this machine. Like i said it broke on me this year. With a full tank it will run for maybe 10 minutes then the empty indicator lights up and it shuts down. Will do this every time. I am getting rid of this thing and buying something that will hopefully last more than 18 months."

Great product,

"I have been useing Quick steam for 2 winters.I put the unit in front of my cold air return and set the steam level to the 2nd setting and the humidity setting to 39% .My 800sqft house stays at 50 to 55% and I only have to fill the tank about every 3 or 4 days.It is easy to clean. The best product I have found to get the calcium off the heating disc is CLR or any hard water cleaner.I have also found that you can clean and reuse the filter pads useing the same cleaner. The Quick steam is also very quite. The only problem I have is the cap on the tank is hard to get off.I would recommend the Quick Steam to anyone."

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE,
February 6, 2008
By Diddle

"It will NOT hold water! 2 days in a row I have come home to find that it has emptied the contents of the reservoir on the floor. I have owned it 4 days. The first day I thought that perhaps I had not screwed the cap on tightly enough. It was definitely tight the 2nd day. DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!"

Clean Humidifier,
November 13, 2007
By Abpa
from New York, NY
"I like this humidifier. I bought one a year ago, and bought another this year. Works very well and helps warm air during winter season. I have other humidifiers (atomizers & ultrasonic), but they require very thorough cleaning and don't seem to help much during cold weather. Cleanig this humidifier is easy, but takes a couple of hours for vinegar to disolve hard water stain. Only downside is its water tank lid. The seal and the cover are designed very poorly such that it could leak water if not tightened really hard."
