New fangled agitator,
February 5, 2010
By Luka
from Lihue HI
"I purchased this washer two months ago. I was skeptic of the new style agitator because it was so small. It is gentle on the clothes, but I feel it does not get the clothes as clean as my old machine. You must make sure all heavy soil and spots are pretreated. If you husband works in construction or your kids play football, I would not recommend this machine. It does use less water than the old machine, but that may be the reason it doesn't clean as well. It is very quiet and wrings the clothes out nicely."

A Great Buy for the Price!!,
January 25, 2010
By applianceman

"I bought this washer just a tad over a month ago to replace my 3 year old, slow, stinky, and noisey Maytag! What a world of difference this washer is compared to the Maytag and it is much quieter as well. It cleans the cloths very well, even on the easy care cycle. I have put this washer through the ringer this past month and it is holding up just fine! One thing to note is you donot want to overload this washer as it tends to put a strain on the motor and it will not wash as good also. So far so good; will report if problems arise later on down the road."

I LOVE IT,
January 23, 2010
By Jane974583

"I finally decided I needed to replace my 17 year old Kenmore washer because it was making strange noises. I'm not much into change and decided I would be perfectly happy with another top loader. So that was the first descision I made. In shopping for a new washer I learned that most of the washers now have a water sensor. This is when the washer senses how many clothes you have in the washer and decides how much water you need to have to get the clothes clean. I didn't want that. Also, it was important to me to be able to open the washer door in the middle of the wash cycle. I always seem to find something I forgot to put in the washer after the load has been started. This washer has both of these features. The tub is large, the machine is very quite, and the clothes come out clean. Just one other note. I'm 5 foot even and to reach into the bottom of the tub requires a bit of a strech. I did my homework and am very happy with my new washer and I loved the price. The delivery people were very professional. A bit trivia. When I dug out the paperwork for my 17 year old nothing fancy Kenmore washer I found it interesting that I had actually paid $32.00 more dollars for the Kenmore then I paid for my new washer."

Not a good washer,
January 16, 2010
By PoorWasher

"I usally try to leave good reviews, however i can not on this washer. Before i bought this washer and dryer set, my old ones "15 years old" took out on me. At the time I didnt have the money to buy a new washer and dryer so I bought a used set for $50 which lasted me around 2 years. When they finally did their last load, I bought this set. Right off the bat, I could tell the washer didnt get my clothes as clean as any other that I had had. In the summertime, my clothes actually had a soured smell to them. I blamed it on my deturgent and swapped 3-4 times b/f i realized it was the washer. Well, summer went away and the soured smell did also. I decided before summer came around again this year, i would call the service man and have him take care of it. I have had this washer for 1 year and 3 months now. Service man said he cant fix it with out replacing the motor b/c the motor wasnt giving enough power to agitate and looked like it wouldnt be working at all before to much longer. That was 3 weeks ago. About one week after he left, my washer started sticking on cycles...all cycles. I would have to manually move it from cycle to cycle. Again "my one year was up, no warranty" motor needed to be fixed and it would cost a lil over $200. And finally last week, it stopped all together, so now i have to go get a new washer or pay almost as much as a new washer to get this one fixed. I do not recommend this washer and dryer set to anyone. The dryer also makes noises and takes forever to dry. I borrowed a washer from my sister this week to do my laundry and i can wash 2 loads, almost 3 b/f the dryer drys one load. This washer is a lg brand. If I had it to do over again, which I guess i do, I will not/am not buying another GE brand. Appliances just are not made like they used to be. This time I will be buying a LG!"

Walk away,
October 21, 2009
By stuckwithwasher

"I'm not happy with this washer at all! I have had it for a little over a year and have already had to call customer service. For no reason, this washer will get stuck in the middle of a cycle! It happens in the wash cycle or in the rinse cycle or in the spin cycle. I have cleaned the hoses and that's not the problem. Now that it is a year old, I no longer have warranty coverage on it so I'm stuck with it! If I could throw it out the window and get a new one, I would. I really wish you could 'test drive' washers!!! I mean really, it's a year old! I can see this happening after several years of use, but after a year! And we are only a 3 person family! I would not recommend this washer at all! Oh, and I'm not impressed with it's cleaning ability, either! Booo!!!"

GE Washer,
October 19, 2009
By BarryE
from Lorton, VA
"My old washer was 12 years old and I didn't realize how poor the performance was until I bought this washer. It takes some getting used to--the unusual noises it makes since it does not have a traditional transmission and clutch apparatus. I like the load capacity. I intentionally tried to overload the machine to see how it would perform. I was surprised when the entire cycle completed and the clothes were evenly distributed and not wrung into knots. The clothes were cleaner with less wrinkles. They were just moist which meant that my new dryer could work more efficiently.I like having all the optional cycles available, especially the 2nd rinse. I hope one year from now I am as satisfied as I am after one week."

Thrilled to wash with water again!,
October 10, 2009
By kcity
"After 5 years of having my dirty laundry sprinkled with water to get it cleaned, I am thrilled to have a tub that fills with water and can soak away the dirt and give me clean clothes again! This washer is extremely quiet, holds a ton of clothes and they all come out clean and fresh smelling. The spin is strong enough that I barely use a dryer to get them dry. And the price was about $400! I will never go back to a water misting, clothes knotting washing machine again!"

Best Washer,
September 16, 2009
By sgro
from Euclid,Ohio
"This is one of the best washers I have ever used. I was skeptical making an internet purchase of such a large ticket item, but due to my busy work schedule...I needed to solve this issue in a short time period as the laundry was stacking up. I love the large 3.5 size drum, it can wash a king size comforter with ease and the machine is so quiet that we wondered if it was working. The dials are easy to understand and I like having a super size level of water choice if I have a huge load, it saves on running numerous loads. The auto soak feature is a plus too. I feel like we always get top quality with GE products and this washer has proved again that it is a good product for the money."

Transmission bad after 1 year.,
August 25, 2009
By rjmn
"We purchased this washing machine based on Consumer Reports' suggestion. The transmission failed after our warranty had expired. We complained to GE and they gave us a new transmission but the labor cost was $268.50. Not built to handle large loads even though it says King size."

"I love this washer. My old one was 15 years old and very loud. I put a load of towels in the first time I used the washer and thought I over loaded it and broke it because I didn't hear it running. It has many different sounds while it is going through the cycles but they are all normal and described in the manual."

This washer quit after 23 months of moderate use,
July 15, 2009
By JeanB
from St. Louis
"I bought this washer in August of 07. We used if for a family of 4 for 23 months. I paid a repair man $85 to find out the the motor needs to be replaced. The repair would cost $485.00 which is more than the cost of a new washer. I looked up the Part and it is $190.00. I researched this washer on Consumer Reports but I guess that was a waste of money buying that subscription too."

"I just bought this product on 6/16/2009 and first time use, the water pulls into the washer and drains out before going on to the next cycle. Wasted water!! Thanks for the one year warranty but I would prefer a replacement washer...I have a bad feeling that there will be more problems down the road!!"

washer broken 15 months later,
April 21, 2009
By Momwantstodowash
from St. Louis, MO
"Washer has been in service for 15 months and won't agitate or spin, it fills and drains. I have called a repairman and hope he makes it out in the next day or two as we are running out of clean underwear. We are very disappointed in the performance and would recommend buying the extended warranty because we didn't and will be on the hook for at least $100 for a service call. Who has that kind of money these days?"

Just installed this wash,
March 24, 2009
By GolfinGranny
from Lewisville, TX
"Only run two times. Quietest thing I ever saw. It's about 20' from our kitchen/den area and I keep going in to see if the thing is working. Clothes are so much drier following the wash/spin cycle than from old machine. Therefore doesn't take as much electricity to dry. I'm still a little confused on the cycles. Since there is so little "agitation" it seems like everything is being washed on gentle. But clothing looked much whiter and cleaner. I'll give this one a thumbs up."

"This washer doesnt even wash. It agitated so slowly that my clothes did not even move. Took three washes to get stuff clean. "Gentle Power" is a gentle joke- the regular cyle worked exactly the same as the gentle cycle. Return it or dont buy it"

"This is a very quiet machine and great value for the money. It is located near our baby's room so quiet is very important to us. At points during the wash cycle it doesn't even sound like it is running. The tub is very large and great for big loads of towels, sheets, etc. We love this washer and would highly recommend it."

Excellent value!!,
March 8, 2009
By valuedoc
from Orlando, FL
"I don't go for the fancy, high-end kind of stuff so when I needed a new washer, I opted for the basics. This machine is awesome, especially for the price! The tub is super huge, and it runs SO quietly! Furthermore, my clothes have never seemed quite so clean. My towels smell fresher than ever, and everything looks bright and new. I also love the clean look of the all-white machine."
