"We had this microwave less than a year, and after only a couple of months whenever we would choose the popcorn option after about 30 seconds the microwave would shut off by itself. After about 5 minutes it would turn back on. Thinking we would "trick" the microwave whenever we would put popcorn we would set the time instead of choosing the popcorn button well after a few seconds it would shut off. IT KNEW THERE WAS POPCORN IN THERE!! (lol)
Finally the microwave decided just to stop warming all together. So now here I am looking for another microwave. Big waste of money i will never buy this microwave or the Magic Chef brand again!"

"Purchased this unit last year to replace a countertop unit. Even though the unit was "quirky" with the automatic fan and locking itself out when the range below was used for extended periods, it usually performed well. Now that the general warranty has just expired the unit failed just like the other reviewers stated. It just started turning itself on and can not be cleared. The keypad does nothing. Unfortunately I did not read the reviews on this oven until after I too had issues and was looking for a replacement."

"We have only had this microwave a few months and have the same problems. The turntable works sometimes, but it has shut itself off and won't come back on. I'm hoping to exchange it for another one. THe Magic Chef range works wonderfully and I was hoping for the same result in the microwave to no avail.Also, the keypad plastic wore off in just a couple of weeks and looked tacky. I wouldn't want to purchase this one again."

Faulty Limit Switch,

"The microwave periodically shut-down, particularly after it had been run for more than 10 minutes. During this shut-down, none of the oven's electronics were operable. After several minutes, the machine would issue a "click" and re-power (into 'off' mode) at which time it became operable again. Finally, after less than one year of use, the oven has permanently failed.
Frankly, I'll probably replace it with the same make and brand--hoping that this time I get lucky.

"We bought this microwave about a year ago as an alternative to ording a better unit as this one was sold on the shelf. We were happy with the performance until about 4 months ago when it began having problems running properly. The unit will literally turn on and run all by itself, even in the middle of the night. It also will not work at all after it has one of its turn-on-by-self moments. We've tried unplugging it to reset it and nothing works. We've currently been several days without a properly functioning microwave and its really frustrating, especially with a baby that needs warm bottles or warm food."

"My wife and I received this microwave as a gift and within the first 8 months it began running on its own. It even woke us up in the middle of the night. We took it back to Home Depot and they were willing to replace it without any questions. However, we replaced it with the same model, hoping that it was a one-time problem. Unfortunately, we are going to be returning it again today. We've also had this one less than a year. Needless to say, we won't be buying this same brand and model."

"Listen, if you're expecting this microwave to wow you, then you should probably look elsewhere. If you're looking for a so-so microwave that warms your food and is affordable, then you've found the one. It is a little on the noisy side, however, it doesn't sound like a freight train running through your kitchen. Perfect for people who just want a food-warmer-upper!"

"We got this New Magic Chef Microwave installed in our new House in Novenber of 2007 and Today Feburary 27, 2009 the Microwave will not cook or warm up anything not even popcorn. Not Happy at all"

"Had a lot of problems with this unit.
when I would turn it on, the exhaust fan would always run. It was so load, it hurt my ears. There was no way to turn the fan off. I never had a unit where the exhaust fan would always run while cooking.
I also noticed it was getting hot in the upper part of the unit which scared me. The key pads were hard to push too.

Took it back and got a GE for 100 dollars more. Home Depot treated me very good! Excellent service."
