Well I shopped around. Impossible to find any chippers with the horsepower & muscle this one has in this price range. In the Grounds Maintance trade over 20 years I know power equipment. This chipper does the job. Power to spare. I only have one issue. The limb chute clogs when chipping leafy branches. I cured that problem by using a pusher stick made of wood ie. Old broom handle. Starts on the first pull even Cold. Runs all day without any problems. Easy to manuvre. A pleasure to own. Replaceable cutting blade & flailes a plus....

I did quite a bit of shopping around and this was by far the best deal-i've fed 8-10 foot branches and come back with sawdust- the only thing is when you get leaves into a pile to mulch do it right away as it tends to choke a little bit on wet leave piles-(my fault anyways) but overall it does a great job and saves me a bunch on mulch by the bag. i would definetly recommend this to anyone looking for the real thing for a homeowner without going nuts and spending several thousand on a commercial one.

Yard Machines 305cc Chipper/Shredder

This machine is the real thing, easy to start and has plenty of power. I've used it six times (6 hour total run time) and the engine has started on the first pull each time. This machine replaced a smaller chipper/shredder and am I glad I bought the larger more powerfull unit. It's not sensitive & quirky to operate as the old smaller unit. I don't have to listen for the drop-off in rpm & constant jamming of the old unit.

I searched and searched for a machine I could afford and would do the job, this machine is both. It starts easily, is easy to use, relocates almost effortlessly, has brutal power, and just keeps on going. It doesn't quite take a 3 in. branch but it chews up 2 in. dry elm branches without hardly bogging the motor. The chips that come out are perfect to line pathways or mulch around trees. The shredder portion I can load with small branches and leaves and with just a little coaxing with a stick sucks it all into machine and spits out a fine mix thats pefect for adding to the compost pile . I'm very satisfied with this purchase .

I purchased this about 4 weeks ago. Delivery took about 10 days. Assembly was approximately 1 hour (easy to follow instructions). I've used it about 4 times, about one hour each time, mostly for branches and sticks.
Pros:
1 - Starts on first pull, every time (so far)
2 - Can be pulled behind my tractor so I can move it around the yard easily.
3 - Does a very good job - I've fed the hopper with many sticks and branches, ranging from 1/2 inch to 2-1/2 inch, and it chews them up easily.
4 - My neighbor has the smaller model, and I can tell this one is exponentially better than that one. The larger engine makes a big difference.
5 - Leaves are shredded so fine that they make a nice much for a smaller garden. Sticks are turned into small chips which I use for ground cover in tree beds and along a path in the woods.
Cons:
1 - I thought I could get 3-inch thick branches in the hopper, but that would be a stretch. 2-inch ones feed easily, 2-1/2 is a little tougher, and that's about the max.
2 - Leaves tend to need "help" in moving through the shredder. Using a long stick, I can push them through. This is an inconvenience, but not a big issue.
I am very happy with this chipper / shredder. I have cleared out a good portion of the woods behind my house and will continue doing this for quite some time. I would give this 4-1/2 stars if I could. If only this tool was a little bigger .........
