200 Amp 4-Space 8-Circuit EUSERC BR Type Main Breaker Meter Breaker Trailer Panel

The Eaton Cutler-Hammer 200 Amp 4-Space 8-Circuit Meter Breaker Load Center Overhead and Underground is designed for use where electricity enters a home or dwelling. This meter breaker is a combination meter socket and main circuit breaker load center in 1 compact unit. The utility attaches a meter in the socket to measure power consumption. The load center portion is used to distribute the power throughout the home using various circuits.

Poorly designed critical component

When hooking up the 04 power cables to run from the meter base to the breaker box, and while tightening up the set screw to a tightness needed the slot that the set screw screws into bent and the threads stripped. This part is not sold separately. In addition, I had to partially disassemble the meter base to even slide off the bent and stripped part. The problem here is that the part which bent appears to not be made of thick enough material. One will not find this out until the meter box is mounted and it is time to hook up and tighten up the cable. By this time it's a huge problem to take the whole box down which requires that the riser pipe be unattached along with the conduit that goes from the meter box through the wall to the load center or breaker box.
Dissembling the box to take the part out for replacement is really not as disappointing as not being able to find the part itself.
Without the ability to tighten the set screw down to hold the 04 cable, one can not get power to the home. In other words, and even though I'm ready to have the house switched over to its new 200A service, I can not have it switched if the cables can't be properly attached.
If I can not find the part I need, the only other option I know of is to buy another whole unit. Over a $100 item which only needs a $2 poorly designed critical part.
