I purchased this dishwasher because my previous dishwasher had similar wash cycles and features. I prefer this dishwasher because it is now towerless which allows me to position more dirty dishes and has a more spacious silverware basket. It also does an excellent cleaning job; however, it was more noisy compared to my previous dishwasher. I think a little bit more insulation should do the trick.

Large Capacity but very noisy

Replaced my 6 year old recalled GE profile dishwasher with the tall tub GE GLD5900. I am disappointed that GE call it "Quiet Power 3", when it is not quiet at all. It is as loud if not louder than my old recalled dishwasher. On the other hand, the delivery and installation from Home Depot was timely, professional, and courtious.

We really do love this dishwasher. The tall tub feature is great, expecially if you do a lot of cooking with larger cookware. Its quiet and really cleans the dishes well. We had another brand at an old house that was to be "of higher quality", however we like this one much better. If your looking for a great mid priced dishwasher this is the one for you.

It's quiet!

This dishwasher replaced an older GE model. This one is so much quieter than the other-main reason we replaced the unit.
I also like the control panel-no knobs to turn and it is easy to see when you need more rinse agent. I usually rinse the dishes first, but I have "tested" this dishwasher without rinsing and it did a great job cleaning the dishes. I am very happy with this dishwasher. I can now run it at any time and nobody complains about noise...they didn't even know it was running!
