Expensive & cheap,

"I purchased this 3 yrs. ago & had trouble right away with the drain hose disconnecting under washer & water all over. Finally replaced the clamp on it. The hose & clamp were cheap. Then, started having trouble-error E3 showing up & would have to mess around for hours to get it to go again. Now it won't work at all, what a mess. Others have compalined of the same thing & they had to spend $250 for a new board(to do it themselves) & it may or may not have fixed the problem. Dispenser tray is very cheap, too. The rubber gasket on door has to be cleaned all the time( a pain) or it gets full of mold. I'm going to get a cheap washer this time & consider it disposable, as this one is."

"This machine is actually made by Frigidaire for GE*
We bougt our washer on 09/04/1997. It was $799.99 at that time.
This was a replacement for a 1988 Gibson (also made by Frigidaire) Front Load washer that our mover dropped; which cause it to act rather strangely and so we replaced it almost 1 year later. Our Gibson Front Loader came with instructions that clothing needed to be conditioned when changing from a top load washer to a front load washer, soap residue was reportedly a problem from top loaders. They recommeded the first time that clothing was washed in a front loader to wash without any laundry detergent to condition the clothes. Needless to say there was plenty of suds in the washer from the clothing, anyway. They furthermore recommended that you run the washer empty with 1/3 cup clear ammonia, in the hottest wash available once a month to condition the machine regularly. It was also recommended to leave the door slightly ajar, so as to prevent mold and mildew from forming in the wash tub. We have continued to do that with this machine even though the owner manual did not make these suggestions in our 1997 machine.
The only problems we have ever encountered with our washer was to replace the door lock solenoid, two different times under warranty due to a humming/buzzing sound. It still does that on some occasions. We had to remove a toothpick from the drain pump, it was causing the machine to make a loud noise on spin cycle, once remove the machine returned to its normal quiet operation. We have washed everything imaginable in our machine from rugs to dog beds with no problem. You also need to clean the dispenser drawer occasionally and pour out the excess water to keep it from molding or mildew. I think most people have either overloaded or oversuds their machines at some point as we've hade none of the problems others have mentioned in other reviews. We couldn't be more satisfied with our machine. It continues to perform as quietly as when it was new. We only wish everyone could have the same satisfying experience that we have and continue to have.

"Ordering on line and Home Depot's delivery was smooth. I had to change the day and it was easy to accomplish. I have owned this washer for a month now. It fits all my king bedding at once, which is more than big enough for our family.. I usually do smalller loads, and a front loader is definitely better at cleaning small lots. Gentle, but gets them clean. I actually enjoy washing now. Dispenser works nicely . Buzzer is adjustable so I can put it on loud when far away, and low when in the kitchen, close to laundry and off. Couldn't ask for a better appliance ...fine price online."

Great Washer - be wary of the dryer,

"I have been using this washer for about 5 years now and havent had any problems with it. The only complaint I have is that it is difficult to clean out the soap tray. If you dont clean it out every once and a while mold will grow in there. Please read my review of the dryer though or prepare to loose clothing!"
