The reason this microwave didn't get an excellent is because my tenant has commented that it is much louder than the Frigidaire it replaced. After 5 years my Frigidaire died and so my search began for a replacement. I checked out all the microwaves in Home Depot before I decided on this one. It's for my condo that I rent out and I didn't want to go too pricey, but not too cheap. The look and feel is much better than Maytag or Hotpoint, LG had a nice one that I think would have been a good alternative as well. Great asthetics, easy to use console, and very robust recirculating fan. The light underneath is in the middle of the unit which is great for adding some illuminescence to the cooktop. Maytag's light is in the rear of the unit and many people didn't like that. The added rack, ability to stop the turntable, and once touch cooking along with the price made this microwave a must have.

Good size, looks nice and does a good job on heating up food. I mostly use it to warm up food and heat water for tea. No complaints. Easy to install.

Purchased this same model Microwave lasted about a year and half just enough time to go past the warranty. Unit will no longer power on. I wont be purchasing another GE product

Worked fine for almost 3 years. It must have known the extended warranty expires in 2 years. What's the point of a good looking stainless steel microwave if it wont last ? Now i'm buying a maytag.

This model looks beautiful but unfortunately lasted less than 2 years before the magnatron went on it (won't heat anything). Costs more to fix than to buy another one. Very disappointed!!

Our stove and microwave stopped working within months of eachother. We were so thrilled to find a great deal at Home Depot and replaced the stove with GE's model (double oven) last month and the GE microwave this month. This GE over-the-range microwave is everything we need. We love having the extra rack in there for heating up two dishes at a time. People commented that the fan is a little noisy, but we haven't found it offensive. The delivery guys were fantastic - we've had outstanding service from Home Depot both times and will definitely get our refrigerator here when it quits on us...likely in the next several months!

I purchased a 1540 early this fall. the first failed within days (fan would not turn off). Retailer replaced it with a new unit. The second one died after six weeks. I have found out since then that this is an extremely unreliable model with massive number of control board issues.

I was a bit skeptical at first about a self contained oven . This product is very easily install and works as if a pro had installed. The power and vent hood are perfect for my updated kitchen remodel. A definite investment in the value of my home. I love it!
