Not Your Old Waster & Dryer - Totally Different,
August 5, 2007
"We took a close look at the Maytag Bravos based on the recommendation of a good friend who bought the Whirlpool Cabrio...which is practically, if not actually, the same machine.
We replaced a 13 year old washer and dryer.
Pre-purchase, the appeal of this model was that it would take a lot of clothes at once, was energy efficient, and we really didn't like the front loading washers -- we wanted a top loader. Plus, it was a definite A+ feature that the tub spins at around 1075 rpm to get most of the water out of your clothes before they go in the dryer.
After it was delivered and we had a a chance to do some laundry, my wife remarked that the clothes smelled cleaner. Even the bed sheets smelled cleaner. Even my t-shirts that I wear around the house doing chores smelled cleaner. She remarked "while the old clothes were definitely cleaned by the old washer and dryer, they still smelled like you" "These washed in the Maytag Bravos washer don't still smell like you." Also, we've not once seen the washer get unbalanced and bang around.
The first few days, you'll stand by your new washer and study how it works. We remarked to the kids that they should tell their friends what they did this past weekend --- stand in the laundry room and watch the laundry machine run.
Lastly, Home Depot had the best price. We shopped all the big box stores and other big appliance retailers."

down for three of the four weeks since delivery,
May 31, 2007
"Washer was delivered on 5/2/07. Since that time, I have been able to wash only 7 loads. Now granted, those seven loads came out very nice.
Lid error occured on 4th load, called for service. The Maytag repairman isn't such a lonely guy anymore, as it takes a week to get a service call. Service tech reconnected the lid sensor. I was able to wash another 3 loads before the same error appeared. This time, it required a part replacement, which took another 10 days, even though the part shipped from less than 30 miles away. Tomorrow is the big day, and I so hope that I can catch up on laundry. It's vexing to have a new EXPENSIVE washer that supposedly is a top of the line product, only to be cooling my heels at the laundromat.
This washer is quiet, efficient and has a great load capacity...when it runs. My advice, spend the money and get an extended warranty."

UGH!,
April 21, 2007
"You know how auto manufacturers have made car so complicated that you can not fix them yourself anymore? I think the time has come with the washing machine as well. We fell head over heels with the features and advantages of this washer then were terribly dissapointed when it came on delivery day. We were on our fifth load when the washer stopped mid-cycle ( there was only two sets of sheets in there) and the power would not come back on. The lid locks when a cycle starts so we couldnt even get the wash out of it. After the fact I am now hearing that the circuit boards go on the fritz on most brands of the high end washing machines on a regular basis. So the question now is, do we accept the fact that we will be seeing a repair man every few months for our machines now, or do we wish for the old days when we could have the same washer for 20 years?
Good luck!"

Maytag Bravos Washer,
April 15, 2007
"We purchased this washer because we need a high capacity machine to keep up with the laundry generated by a family of five that includes two teenage boys who play sports year round. This machine was very easy to unpack and set up. The 4.5 cu ft capacity is enormous! It is a very quiet machine. My wife has enjoyed watching the way this machine operates. The sensors on the machine determine the appropriate water levels automatically. It does not operate like a standard top load machine. It never fills the tub up completely with water; it seems like it alternates between spraying and agitating the batch of laundry to get it clean.
The first load of laundry through this machine was done with a standard laundry detergent...it almost blew soap suds out the top.
We had to check a couple of stores before we found one that carried Tide HE (high efficiency) detergent. It made a big difference in the amount of suds generated by the machine. I am curious to see how much of a difference this machine is going to make on our monthly water useage. It has to consume less than half that used by our previous top load machine.
It appears that we are going to get a long life out of the stainless tub and advanced drive mechanism on this machine. I was completely satisfied with the quality of this product."

"It took two full loads of towels in one load and they were allot dryer when we put them in the dryer. It is an awesome machine and I love the way it works in clothes in the cycle and the ability to look inside and see what is going on. I loaded an entire weeks bib overalls and a pair of coveralls and the load came out just great."
