12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote
The Amcor NanoMax12000E portable air conditioner is designed to condition an average-sized room up to 400 sq. ft. Our patented Evaporative Booster Technology is coupled with our patented innovative AutoDrain NanoMist Technology which redirects excess water in the drain bucket, up through a small hose mounted within the hot air discharge hose located at the rear of the portable air conditioner. The water is expelled through a fine mist water atomizer, snap mounted within the hot air hose assembly, which prepares the fine water mist to be vaporized by the hot air discharge of the unit. The water vapor is then passed through the hot air hose, and out the window. This simple device has revolutionized the portable air conditioner product category, as it eliminates the aggravating chore of emptying the water drain bucket.

I live in a pretty beautiful climate (coastal southern California) but it can get very hot in the summer months. this unit definitely fulfills my needs: it cools down my entire apartment (750 sq.ft. one bedroom) and it filters the air. since i'll probably only need it half the year, i can simply stick it in a closet when i don't need it.
i don't know if it would be amazing if you lived in a super hot climate, but it's more than enough for this one.

my only minor issues: getting used to the somewhat loud fans (not horrible, you get used to it after a few minutes.) also, it's like an extra piece of furniture, and this is one of the smaller units i've found. make sure you have a pretty open spot in front of your window. it will need to protrude at least 30 inches or more from the actual window. that depth includes the unit itself with the exhaust hose.
hope this helps your decision. i was nervous about making the large purchase, but now wish i did it sooner!

I performed an extensive research of these products and found this one to out perform the rest at 12,000 btu. By far the best bang for the buck.

I have had this for about a month in the heat of Texas. I have yet to get an electric bill to see how it compares but as a cooling device it does a pretty good job of it. The hose comes unattached very easy so I have used duct tape for that. I does cool our big living room w/ high ceilings pretty good.

I purchased this unit to cool the upstairs bedroom/loft of my apartment, so that I can sleep at night. The temperature can easily rise to 85+ degrees in the afternoon in the loft. This AC can get the temp down around 75 degrees with continuous operation during the day. At night with continuous operation, the temp will decrease further to 72 degrees or lower depending on the outside temp. The unit is very light (the smallest and lightest) compared to other portable AC units and set up is very easy. The biggest drawback is that this unit is excessively loud compared with some of the other heavier more expensive units, and the compressor cycles on/off about every 10-20 minutes which can be very annoying when you are trying to sleep. I find that I need to use earplugs when I sleep. I think the decibel level is rated around 55 with the fan on low, but there is a slightly annoying high pitched note to the fan that borders on unpleasant. I normally sleep with a fan on for the white noise, but this AC is far from being soothing background white noise. It does do a decent job cooling the room though...no complaints with performance.
Pros: Lightweight and perhaps the only truly portable AC unit (can easily be moved around by one person), performs well, easy set-up.
Cons: Noisy...there are much quieter units available.

I have it hooked up in the kitchen and it keeps the litchen and living room nioce and cool. This is about 1000 sq ft. Now, it is not like having a built in AC unit, but it keeps the main portion of my 2400sq ft house cooler than it used to be (OVEN!). I also shut thye shades, close the doors and cover the sunroof...but it is definately worth the money. Also, I bought it online and when it was delivered my wife had already hooked it up. That means it was easy to do. Go for it.

So far, so good! So easy to set up and it is working great. Someone said in a review that it wouldn't cool as well as a window unit! It has a very cold export from the vent, if it is less, I can't tell!

This unit is much better then a 10,000btu unit I had last year. Even though it's only 10% more cooling power, it seems like it's 50% more effective. And it's much quieter then the Royal
