Bought this set a few years ago to start my tool collection and to my surprise they held up extremely well. The saw is good for rough cuts because after a while the blade gets wobbly. The drill on the otherhand has held up great after daily use and being dropped / beat on for years.The only downside to this drill is it is extremely heavy compared to my 18v dewalt. This set is deffinetly worth the money!

I have used both the drill and the saw on several jobs.
The saw is one of the easiest to use I have experienced. For its size, it is more powerful than I expected. It is comfortable to use and easy to maneuver so that I can make accurate cuts (I am definitely an amateur).
My only problem with the drill is getting accustomed to its torque. It is more powerful than my last drill and I tend to get it into places where it the drill bit binds and the drill itself wants to rotate. But that is a problem of my own creation.

The P824 Kit is a fantastic value for folks wanting to buy into the Ryobi One+ system.
The kit comes with two P100 NiCD batteries and a P115 1-Hour Fast Charger. If you keep one battery on the charger while you're using the other in a tool, you should never be without power when you need it.
The P206 drill is durable and a hard worker, and it's the next step up from the P205 drill (with 3/8" chuck) that's found in many of Ryobi's other entry-level kits (e.g., P807, P835, P893). The P206 boasts TWO bit holders and an extra bubble level in the handle, features which aren't found on any of the other Ryobi "blue" drills. (The next drill up the chain would probably be the P204 with it's smaller size and faster no-load speeds.)
Finally, this kit comes with a P501 circular saw. I've seen many reviews pan this saw for inadequate power, but I disagree. I use mine regularly to cut 2x4s and plywood. Yes, it does go through batteries quickly, but not nearly as fast as some reviewers claim. To extend the run-time I usually make a few cuts then immediately swap batteries on the charger while I'm making use of my freshly cut pieces.
The typical price of the P824 kit is only $10 more than that of the P850 kit which is similar but without the circular saw. So you essentially get the P501 circular saw for $10!

I have done small wood working projects for years and it was time to replace some of my tools . I had some of the higher priced tools and their cost was much higher.So I set my mind to getting this starter kit. I have never been happier with a tool than this . Runs like a champ to finish any project I have started to the end without fail. At the end of the project I charge both battries and they are ready to go next time. Well done Ryobi ! only thing i did was buy a smaller tooth blade for my projects. Ps: my 2 yr old grandson is able to pick them up as well so weight isnt a problem.

I own more than a dozen of these tools, when batteries go dead it's cheaper to buy a complete set than buying batteries. Batteries go dead, don't recharge, overheat and for support Ryobi and service centers are useless. I'm changing to dewalt or makita.

I have had several cordless drills and other tools but this is the most powerful and well built of them all. It is a little heavy but that is solved with the optional Li Ion Battery packs. It provides good power and run time with the NiCad Packs as well and has excellent power. The saw in the kit is a great help in the field for that quick cut to fit something or quickly and effortlessly shorten a board or trim. A great start to a full featured assortment of other compatiable tools. I especialy like the one charger one battery format for the entime line!

I bought 7 of these kits in November 2011 for Job boxes at Trade shows.
I added these 7 to 8 sets we already had.... those orginal 8 have work flawlessly for the past 3 years and are still going strong.
Some of the first batteries are reaching their life expectancy.
But the new Ion battery solves that.

My second Ryobi 18 volt. Had first one about 6 years. Put 1000+ screws into sheet metal while building a barn, never any problems. Definitely buy one again!

I thought I had found this starter kit at Amazon for $10 cheaper. The Amazon version, however, lacked a 2nd battery or tool bag. The charger was not nearly as advanced as the Home Depot version. I happily returned the Amazon version and purchased the Home Depot one. I replaced a heavy Skill saw and an entry-level 18v drill. The drill is infinitely better than the one it replaced. I can't comment on the saw yet other than to say that it spins.

I've had several cordless drills but by using this ryobi for a short time, i can tell i made the right choice, lots of power and the battery life is excellent, even if its new. i havn't used the 5 in. saw yet but i have some projects coming up that i will and i can't wait. i sure it will perform to more than what i will expect.
