Absolutely love my vacuum. So much dirt in one of my rugs that when I used the Dyson on it it changed the color. My brother-in-law asked if we had a new rug.

We have had a dog for the last two years and getting up all the hair has been difficult. Since receiving the Dyson, our floors are now spotless. My father had raved about his Dyson for years. I am now sold and will never go without a Dyson again. I would recommend to anyone!!!

We have 2 dogs--a Vizsla (short hair that sheds) and an American Eskimo (big white fluffball that sheds a LOT). I had given up hope on finding a vacuum cleaner that could stand up to the challenge. Thank goodness for Dyson--my carpets (some more than 10 years old) look BRAND NEW. I am not exaggerating--the suction power this thing has is unbelievable.
I also have some very dense, short pile rugs that could not be cleaned with any of my previous vacuums. The Dyson adjusted even to these rugs and pulled dirt, hair, and dust out like I have never seen.
I would strongly recommend this to any homeowner with pets--if it can stand up to an American Eskimo, it can handle anything!!!

I've been an Oreck owner for quite a few years and decided to purchase the Dyson 17 based on reviews and reports from consumers. When the vacuum first arrived by UPS, I was concerned at the weight of the box, but my concern was not for long! It moves along easily. The first time I used the Dyson 17, I was amazed at the amount of dust, dirt and dog hair it pulled from the carpet. The attachments are great and easy to transition to. GREAT machine!

This vacuum works wonderful. I have had a war on pet hair for a long time and now I am winning! My carpet literally changes color as I vacuum. It is light, easy to manuver and fast. The only complaint is that it's a little clumsy changing the attachments and dealing with the hose for attachments. The directions could have given more detail on what everything is for. Bottom line, it is wonderful.

Easy to run and easy to empty. Pulls over the carpet almost like it is self propelled. Can't believe how much it pulls up and is worth the money.

Over the last few years, my husband and I have gone through 4 supposedly good vacuums. None of them have managed to outlast 2 kids, 2 cats and 1 long haired dog. This Vacuum is different, it will surely go the distance. The amount of dirt, pet hair, etc, that has come up from the carpet is amazing, although somewhat disturbing to see how dirty our 1 year old carpet really was! It is easy to operate and very maneuverable. We absolutely love it! I never thought I'd be so excited about a vacuum cleaner!

Yes, it's another person in love with the DYSON DC-17.
Pros: Vacuuming is now a pleasure and something I look forward to.
Cons: I love this machine and can't think of anything negative to say - slightly heavy?
The Bottom Line: Our new Dyson DC-17 is an excellent vacuum cleaner. Spending the extra money for this quality appliance was worth it. I never thought I would look forward to vacuuming!

The Dyson DC17 has Alien Tank like design. Way hevier that our old Oreck. I was shocked to see how much dirt / dog hair it pulled out of our carpet. Our carpet is less than a year old. The Dyson DC17 is amazing. Price is high but, so is your health. It is also a soft sounding machine. Which is nice when you do not want to desturb anyone in the house.

I owned the model prior to this one for 2 years now and was pleased with the ease of the product. It did however, fail at times to pick up all of the dog hair. I have 2 big dogs and this was very important to me. I decided to buy this vacuum and so far am pleased with the result. It only took me less than 5 minutes to assemble and to be on my way to vacuuming. My only con on this until is that it is quite a bit louder than my prior unit, but does work great. I am pleased with the overall unit.

This vacuum is excellent and well worth the money. I used to spend 30 minutes unclogging my old one (2 months old) only to have to use the swiffer to finish the job. The house looks cleaner now. I just wish the instructions were a little better.

I have allergies (dust being one!) This thing is amazing! The hose is a bit stiff so makes the attachments tricky but I'm sure it will loosen up over time. But it is fantastic!

Lesson Learned: You Get What You Pay For

For the holidays, I convinced the wife that our old Hoover Wind Tunnel was shot. It has served it's purpose for a number of years, but the suction at the floor was basically zero.
We were trying to decide between the Wind Tunnel Cyclonic and the comparable Bissell model (approx $200). The $550 Dyson seemed a bit too much at that time. We went with the Hoover (Wind Tunnel Cyclonic)- for brand faithfulness. I vacuumed our game room and lounge where our kids and company spend most of their time. This was only several days after using the old worn-out Hoover. It picked up alot of stuff and I was happy. Then I did some research ....
Had to go to several stores, but finally found a DC17 and took it home (12 months no interest no payments - heck, why not?) Like I had read, it was a pain to get out of the box. I would add that the "manual" is written in the ailine saftey manual-ese that is supposed to be understood globally - but all it really does is take more time to understand than if it was written in English. (For that, I knocked off one star)
This thing pulled up so much dog hair and dirt that I took pictures of the cannister and sent them to everyone I knew.. A little bragging I know, but I was amazed.
Short Moral - pay a little more, get the 5-year warranty, and start resting more assured that you are getting the most suck for your buck ...

I have pets and kids and a husband that won't take his shoes off before entering the house. I go through vacuums like there is no tomorrow! I had read some reviews saying this vacuum was hard to assemble - but it took me about 5 seconds to put it together - it was harder to get it out of the box! The Dyson Absolute Animal is amazing! I liked the stain remover and carpet fresh stuff that they sent with the vacuum, too! My house really looks clean and you can feel the difference - no grit sticking to your feet after you have used this vacuum. There is also less dust in the air. I hate cleaning, but I like this vacuum - a lot! No, the Dyson people didn't pay me to say that, but if they want to, they can contact Home Depot for my real identity! I also like the bagless aspect of this vacuum - I spent tons of money on Hoover bags and Eureka bags and frankly, a package of bags often outlasted the vacuum! Buy this vacuum- you won't regret it - unless you are short and wimpy - it does weigh about 20 lbs... but you can get a good workout while you clean. :)

Words can not express how wonderful this vacuum is. I vacuumed an area that I had just vacuumed the day prior and it was embarrassing how much dirty came out of the carpet. I vacuumed 3 times and the canister was still full of sand. I have been vacuuming 2 times a day and still getting up sand. I must say when I first started vacuuming; I could feel the suction on the carpet. This is beyond anything I could ever expect. This was well worth the investment!

Just brought this vac home today. My old vac broke and didn't seem to work very well in the first place.
Well I am now starting to think that it never worked at all! I couldn't believe all the dirt and cat hair this thing pulled up from my carpet!
The hose is long enought to reach the top of my stairs without dragging it along with me. The attachments "actually" work as well. Even though the price is a bit scary, it reeally does work wonders.

I have had many top quality vacuums over the years and I can honestly say that my new Dyson, DC17 'Animal' is truly an ANIMAL when it comes to vacuum cleaners! It has fantastic suction and I love the self adjusting roller! It is easy assembly and does an incredible job vacuuming! If you are wanting a vacuum that can clean any type of carpets or flooring I would highly recommend the Dyson, DC17 Animal!!

This is by far the best vacuum we have bought yet! It has more power than most and cleans deep down. We use it on all types of flooring in our house and it adjusts to each one. The Dyson comes with so many useful attachments that this vacuum is all you will ever want to use again in your home! Well worth the money!
