Had no problems with it for 1st 2 years, then 2 months later it started losing power (the motor stopped) when hitting some moderate resistance. Unfortunately it comes with a 2-year warranty and it broke 2 years and 2 months after I bought it. In the midst of dealing with Ryobi right now to see if they will replace it, but that's definitely indicative of a design flaw, especially since I've only used it for small minor projects in the home. Not sure if I can recommend it because of that (otherwise I would).
No, I do not recommend this product.

very lightweight, medium torque kit
I have had this for about a year now,
the battery has a pretty good life to it!!
what I really like is that I can wrap a bungee strap (the one with the ball on the end of the loop) around the handle & put the ball in the key pocket of my jeans as a holder, it is so lightweight, I sometimes forget it is there.
my main use for it is driving small machine screws..
SWEET

This brand was recommended to me by a friend who also suggested a model with a lithium battery. This drill fit the bill for both. Being a woman, I wanted a drill that was lightweight and easy to use. Again, this drill was both. Also, the carrying case will help me to keep the drill and accessories in one place. I would recommend this drill to others.

I had a great selection of 18V Ryobi power tools but all too often the large heavy 18V drills were overkill. I picked up one of the 12V drills and found that for much of what I do around the house its just right. Certainly my 18V drills have more power, but they are twice as heavy and bigger. This 12V drill does 75% or more of the jobs I do and is more compact, lighter and much easier to work with. For me the 12V drill compliments the larger 18V drill. Besides that its really nice on a job to set up the 18V with the bits for the heavier work and the 12v for the lighter jobs. Work goes twice as fast as I don't have to continually change bits on one drill.
The 12V batteries have lots of power, hold a charge for a long time and charge up fast. I have used this drill for about two years now and love it.

Best drill around for the price. Period. Those complaining that it doesn't have as much power as an 18v are making no sense. Of course an 18v is more powerful. If you needed that much power, then why did you buy a 12v?
This drill can do just about anything you need it to do. I have driven countless drywall and deck screws with this into many different types of wood with no pre-drilling. Works great as a normal drill as well. Drilled out 5/16" holes through stacked 2x4s with no problems for bolt holes. The fast charge is great as well, use one while the other is charging. Probably won't need it unless you are using the drill consistantly for the majority of the day. The only complaint I have, and it is a very small complaint, is with the clutch. While it is easy as most drills to switch between torque levels, it does require a little extra force to get it to lock into the drill stage. With that said though, this is my new go to cordless drill. Now if I can just find a cordless with as much power as my corded Dewalt, I will be exstatic.
Yes, I recommend this product.

The drill works well but getting the battery off to recharge is very difficult. I feel I am struggling every time I try to get the battery off. I do not want to ask for help every time I want to charge my battery. It is very frustrating. It definitely seems to be a design flaw.

I have owned this drill for over a year now. I like that it is small and light but in retrospect it's not worth the money.
You would be better off purchasing a Ryobi 18 volt drill. For the difference in price you would get a much more powerful drill and you would also be able to purchase additional Ryobi 18 volt cordless products at a later time. You may also be able to find an 18 volt kit for less money.
This is a nice little drill that feels well made and the charge also lasts a long time, but there is really no need for 2 batteries. If they would package this with only one battery at a significantly lower cost then I would highly recommend this, but as I stated earlier, for the price, you're better off with the 18 volt. I have even seen a compact Ryobi 18v available at Home Depot stores. It's small and with the l-ion batteries it's also very light.
This drill does do a good job but at a significantly slower pace than my 18v. This would be good for small jobs. I've used it for installing electrical boxes, hanging curtain rods, and installing stereo equipment into cars. I've also used it to put furniture together, and when I was installing 4 inch screws into the base of a desk, the drill was only able to get the screw 3/4 of the way in. So this is good for light jobs. It would be capable of doing larger jobs but you would have to pre-drill everything and things would take twice as long.
Due to its price tag I'm not going to recommend this, but I will recommend Ryobi's 18 volt line. I have a huge collection of this line and love every piece.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this cordless as just a throw-away that I expected to last about one years worth of use when I was adding my two car garage to my home. I've had the thing for nearly two years and it's still going strong. I've tried to break this thing, it's put in hundreds of screws, probably close to a thousand, in just about every medium-ie wood, metal and even cement. It's been knocked off 8 foot ladders and landed on concrete floors and didn't even get a scratch! Only thing that I've noticed is there is a slight wobble in the chuck, but it's not an issue even when using long spade bits on funky angles. Highly recommend, hella good value.

This drill has no power. The Lithium batterys are shot and I have only used a few time. Forget the 12 volt systems by Ryobi!!!! The 18 volt Drills are great. I bought the smaller 12 volt drill for its size. I cannot recommend this product for anyone, stay clear. you are just throwing your money away.

My Ryobi is the first model out, HJP 001. I have used it on all sorts of home projects, It always did the job..
This pass summer I finnished my 700 sq.ft. basement, using only my 12 volt cordless Ryobi drill, sheet rocking included.... 3" screws in 2x4s not a problem..My son, when I ask what he would like for Xmas.Told me, a Ryobi 12v cordless drill.... what more can i say.

This is my first cordless drill. I needed an extra to supplement my trusty corded drill. I thought an 18v drill would be overkill for my needs. So far this has been a good choice for me. It's lightweight, compact and no frills (1 speed gearbox, no built-in level or light). Charges in 45 minutes. Keeps working right up until battery needs recharging, no gradual loss of power. I just built large garage shelves and drove many 2.5" and 4" drywall screws through 2"x3" lumber into wall studs through double thickness drywall. Drill handled it no problem (I do pre-drill for the screws, though). The chuck has loosened up on some small drill bits a few times but it hasn't been a big deal. Extra battery is nice. Only complaint I have is the flimsy cloth storage case. A hard plastic case would be nicer and a trivial extra expense for Ryobi. Drill appears to be solidly made and I am glad I bought it.

It is only 12v but provides enough punch to complete home projects. Light and compact not requiring much muscle to do the job. I wish they have just a straight screwdriver that can use the same power source. The price is right too. 2 batt and a charger for under $80.00. It was a steal. I would recommend it for home users.

came with 2 batteries which is great because you never know when your in the middle of something and then its dead and you have to wait for a charge, not with this one, plus the charger is better than most ,I have put this thru more than my yellow drill(major brand) and the ryobi kicks it.
