Failed after 2 years,
December 5, 2009
By Kuhlman

"Worked well for two years then compressor ran continuously but failed to cool. Warranty would pay for replacement compressor but we have to call an appliance repairman and have them diagnose the problem. If the compressor needed replacement the repairman had to call Magic Chef who would provide one free (5 year warranty on compressor only). Approximate cost to fix is $300. Just so you know what you’re getting...................."

Awesome little refridgerator with minor drawbacks.,
June 26, 2009
By illini
from Schaumburg, il
"This refridgerator looks great and works great. We bought two of them and put them side by side in our basement. The handle was super easy to switch around and this fits so many bottles, cans, etc. We bought the beverage cooler style. I even use it when we have parties for cakes and various salads.
The two drawbacks are as follows:
1. Could chill drinks a little bit more. Does not get them ice cold.
2. The door needs to be shut. If you try to just slam it shut it will end up ajar. It does not seal shut when closed with a swing of the arm.
That being said, I still plan to buy one more for our kitchen area since for the cost, it is not worth $1000+ to fix the two issues mentioned above."

Great Deal,
January 25, 2009

"This Beverage Cooler is exactly that, a cooler. Some people like their drinks Ice Cold ( 35 deg ) if so, this
will do almost that. If you are looking for a cold drink this more than handles the job. Options are you can get an ugly and cheap mini fridge, or buy a high end beverage center which will cost you minimum $1400.00 to get the extra 6 deg colder. You get what you pay for, this Baby more than fits the job PLUS- It looks great, it will impress your friends, incredible durability, stainless design and it will allow you to have cold drinks for your guests.
What more do you need? I think its AWSOME.

Works for me,
January 19, 2009
By beercamper

"I just purchased the unit 2 days ago so this is a short term rating. I bought the unit to use in my homebrew beer hobby so I can produce lagers without tying up the refrigerator. I set the unit at its lowest setting 39 degrees F, which it reached within 1 hour and 5 minutes – not bad. After running the unit for 2 days, the unit cycles between 39 and 42 degrees F – still not bad. I noticed 1 or more of the posters mentioned ice in the back of the unit – while I have not experienced ice after 2 days of operating, this is a natural occurrence and the unit is auto defrost. The unit will automatically go into the auto defrost mode to eliminate the ice which the melted ice is collected in a pan underneath the unit and expelled through evaporation – meaning you have to do nothing. If you go to the Magic Chef website and look up the unit and click on the manual as I did before making the purchase, you will find this stated in the manual. I find the unit runs quiet. The unit is preset for 45 degrees F. However, if you wish to use a lower setting, as I did, push the set button (you hear a beep) and hold for 2 to 3 seconds (you hear a second beep and the numbers will start flashing), then press the up or down arrow keys until you reach the desired temperature, and then press the set button to lock in (set) desired temperature. After 2 days of usage, I give it 5 stars."

sorry I bought 2,

"I bought two of these beverage units thinking that they would be perfect in my new house....was I ever wrong.... they might be okay if all you wanted to do is chill wine, but they are TERRIBLE for soft drinks.... it doesn't matter what you set the temperature to, they will not cool below 44 degrees!!! Also, if drinks get too far to the back they freeze and burst .... ice forms along the back like a manuel defrost ...they have been nothing but a disaster....I am currently looking for replacements for both :-("

"We initially bought this refrigerator, brought it home and plugged it in right away. It was very noisy and never got colder than 52 degrees. We decided to return it and try another one. The second one works great. We keep it at about 46 degrees which is chilled enough for soda, bottled water and beer. It holds quite a bit and looks wonderful in our built in cabinet."

I like it!,

"This refrigerator holds a ton of cans, bottles, party trays, whatever you need. It stays between 39 and 41 degrees which is plenty cold enough for sodas and other drinks. It makes great temporary storage for a party and we've had no complaints in the two months we've owned it."

Not Recommended,

By Nick112

"Great looking, but that is about as far as it goes. I returned this item after 3 days. It does not ever get down to the lowest setting of 39. After taking the temprature of most drinks they all average between 50-60 at that setting. SUGGESTION: Go with a different brand."

Not Cold Enough For Me,
April 15, 2008
By DSabatine
"This unit is definitely very nice looking and sturdy. The tinted glass, blue temperature display, interior light and glass shelves are all a plus. However, if you want your drinks to be cold and not just cool, you should not buy this. I set the unit to it's lowest setting of 39 degrees. It struggles to get that low and usually reads about 42 degrees. This reading is taken on the top shelves of the unit. The bottom shelves registered between 44 and 48 degrees. I called the manufacturer and they said this is the exact same unit as their wine cooler only with different shelves and different packaging. The gentleman on the phone said it shouldn't be used for anything more than cooling beverages. I guess that is why it is called a "Beverage Cooler". Unfortunately I want something that can really chill a soda or bottled water. I wish it had a lower temperature setting than a wine cooler. But if you are looking for something for wine and you don't like your beer real cold, this would probably be perfect and it looks great."

Perfect for my needs,
March 6, 2008
By BriquceC

"Nice product--fits perfectly into my "man" cave. Only complaint is that it was easily damaged moving it from our vehicle to our basement. (left a dent and a scratch on the side when sliding it out of the hatch)
Another reviewer complained that the lowest setting was only 39 degrees. While beer temperature is a matter of taste, most experts recommend that beer should be served betweent 45 °F (light beer) and 60 °F (strong dark ales), I think the coldest temperature setting of 39 degrees is more than low enough. I'm not trying to freeze my beer.

looks great,

"This product looks great, but as far as a beverage fridge it’s not for domestic beers. The coolest you can set this to is 39 degrees and it struggles to maintain this temp. I would call this a great wine cooler however not a beverage refrigerator."
