An outstanding purchase,

"We've spent several weeks and lots of hours trying to determine which type of machines to purchase, and 5 weeks later, we're extremely satisfied with the purchase of this washer and matching dryer. The pair is stacked in our laundry room and has added significant space for me to use. The washer is very, very quiet as well as the dryer. I have used every function on the washer and dryer with absolutely no problems at all. It is rather exciting to own such a well made product. We also purchased the extended warranty with both machines just to be safe. I'm amazed at how clean our clothes have been since using these. I have also washed all the king-sizes bed linens (comforter, too) with a couple of towels at the same time with great results. I have and will continue to recommed these machines. The delivery and set-up went perfectly."

Over One Year Later, and No Problems,
July 8, 2009
By Nursemomto3
"I fretted and fretted over which front loader to buy in March 2008. I worried about mildew, and so forth... Well, this purchase has been problem free thus far, and I am over 15 months into ownership. Is the washer perfect? No. Does it get out every stain known to kid-dom? No.... But close - if I remember to pretreat and use one of the super duper cycles. The only down side to those is that they take a LONG time. Like well over an hour - I don't always have that much time to wait. Very quiet - VERY. No problems with vibration on my concrete slab foundation. Spins like a champ with no issues.
No mildew problems thus far , but let it be said that the door stays open 100% of the time. No exceptions. My water bills have remained very consistent through the months instead of going way up in the summer. This washer helps. But I cannot say that my water bill has been cut in half, or any such claim. What I can say, is that I use WAAAAAY less detergent. My public water course is very soft, so a little detergent goes a long way - I use the powdered HE detergent, and I use much less than what the package calls for - about 1/2 to 2/3 scoop. This gets my clothes very clean - and no kidding, I bought a giant tub (like 5-gallon size) of detergent at Sears for $25 last April - I am just now empyting that jug. HONEST. I cannot ever remember a time in my life when I spent so little on detergent.
This thing is HUGE - the dryer is HUGE. If you have a regular top load machine and are upgrading, you will be amazed at how much you can wash at once. I can wash all my dirty towels at the same time. All my kids dirty jeans. LOTS of stuff goes in here at once. And it gets clean.
The only problem, if you can call it that, is that once or twice for some reason the washer "finished" in mid cycle and left the clothes really wet with soapy water. To remedy this, I turned it back on, set for drain and spin, and started over. This was inconvenient, but no harm done. Don't know what caused it, and the problem is not predictable. Like I said, it has happened only 2-3 times in 15 months, and it was usually when I was washing bulky or heavy things like bed spreads or towells, so it may have been a balance issue. Certainly not a big deal, and doesn't make me dislike my washer.
Got a good deal - about $899 for each on sale - no interest. Definitely recommend this and the matching dryer. Nice QUIET pair. Go for it!"

Believe the Hype,
May 1, 2009

"If you are looking to spend your hard earned money on a device that will definitively improve your life, seriously consider purchasing this washer. You will save water (some say a modest-sized pool's worth in a year), save time (capacity is at least twice that of my older, conventional top-loader with "extra large capacity"), save money on soap (110 loads per jug vs. approximately 50 loads/conventional).
The salient points:
1. The washer is quieter than a conventional washer. Spinning is surprisingly quiet and well-balanced. The "loudest" part of the wash is during water flow into the machine. (See more below on leveling.)
2. It cleans clothes exceptionally well.
3. Easy to use and intuitive controls. Has a child lock for controls similar to most dishwashers.
4. You get nearly the biggest washer around with the appropriate bells and whistles: e.g., "sanitary" wash cycle that will heat the water to 155 F (dust mites die at 145F whereas most hot water heaters don't exceed 135 F output). Why waste money on a steam washer? Also, at 4.2 cubic feet you can wash a king-sized comforter and all its sheets in one load. Amazing.
Other things of interest:
1. Ensure that your washer is leveled. The delivery man, after hook-up and running a self-test, told me the washer was level. I asked him how he knew that to be the case. "I can just tell. I do a lot of these," he said. Baloney. I pulled down my 3' level from my garage wall and wouldn't you know: it was out of level left-right and front-back! I made him spend 15 minutes to do his job. Do the same.
2. The default position of the washer door when not in use is open--not closed--to prevent mildew in the bottom of the door seal where water will necessarily puddle between washes. As such, the door will tend to open all the way, so simply position a laundry basket or some such object to keep the door partially open between washes."

I LOVE IT!!!,
March 25, 2009
By baecker1
"I am the mother of 5 young children from 10 to 10 weeks, I was doing close to 5 loads of laundry a day. My husband is a marine so a year ago we bought the cheapest washer and dryer we could afford, and ofcourse less then a year later they both broke on the same day.
I shopped around for a washer and dryer that would keep me out of the laundry room as much as possible, now I do 1 to 2 loads a day. It is so easy to use,and so quiet, it also plays a cute little ditty instead of the annoying load buzzer like most. Now even though I don't have to do as much laundry, I just love going in there and playing with it. It looks modern, and its energy effecient, it also use less water. And with 3 boys and 2 girls, I don't have to worry about stains as much. And as a bonus I am no longer searching for the downy ball,it has its own fabric softener holder built in. Like I said it is GREAT!!! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Best I've Ever Owned.,
August 9, 2008

from Boston, MA
"As 45 year old mother of 2 small kids and a husband who regularly does construction, I can honestly say this is the best washer (and dryer) I've ever owned. I have the matching dryer, and have them stacked. I've used front-loading machines before (I've lived in Europe and they are much more common there) but none of them have been as good as these. I've never owned an LG appliance before, but will definitely check out other ones in future as they seem to be extrememly well designed and solidly built.
As to details. They wash and dry very effectively. The controls are very easy to use.The dirtiest clothes come out clean without pre-treating (which I always had to do with my Kenmore washer.) The washer and dryer are both VERY quiet. I have them in an upstairs closet in my master bathroom, and can barely hear them at all next door in my bedroom. I don't agree that they are not an upstairs appliances - they are right over my family room, and even when the washer is in full spin mode, I can hear it, but it is by no means 'loud'.
As another reviewer mentioned, this pair is the only pair of waher/dryers that I have used where the dryer keeps pace with the washer. Maybe because it's because the clothes are almost dry when they come out of the washer.
I could go on, but basically the other reviewers have mentioned all the pros, and agree with them all.
As to cons, there are a couple. Firstly, if you plan to stack these and you are pettite. You may have problems operating the controls of the dryer. I am 5'5" and don't have a problem. The other issue I have encountered is not unique to these machines, but I imagine may be a problem with all front-loaders is that you need to use High Efficiency laundry detergent (HE laundry detergent). I've never had to use this before, and in the past I've always used All Free and Clear as my husband and I both have allergies, and skin problems. When I started using Tide HE (the dye and perfume free kind) I found that my daughter and I developed eye irritation problems. I'm going to switch to All Free and Clear HE (which my local supermarket didn't have) and I will also double rinse, and hope this solves the problem. I don't know much about HE detergents, but I've since discovered that a lot of them have warnings that they may irritate eyes. Worth mentioning as an FYI if you have sensitivities."

Completely Satisfied,

"We bought the LG washer and dryer recently for it's style and size. Not completely aware of all it's features. After reading the manual we were pleasantly surprised. The LG washer and dryer have some amazing features. Like for example, the washer weighs your load to see how much detergent it needes. The dryer lets you know if the vent is clogged. Their are many more just as impressive things this washer and dryer can do. we were also very satisfied with how clean our clothes came out. With four little boys we definately know the difference between a machine that cleans well and one that does not and this washer definately does it's job."

Best Buy.....,

"I went all around town looking for a washer and dryer pair. I looked at each manufacturer and the energy charts and the LG just walked away from all the others. The features this unit has would take to many lines to explain. It runs flawlessly and works quickly. The clothes are almost dry when they come out of the washer. The dryer actually keeps up with the washer... I cut half a day out of laundry day and I can't wait to see the energy and water savings.
It's also nice to be able to run even a small load and have it in a few minutes instead of wasting 20 gallons of water and waiting hours...
You need to get this washer and it's dryer. They are fabulous..."

Nice Spin,

"I just received deilvery of this washer this morning; I am just now doing my second load and I have to say WOW!
Very, Very quiet; except the Spin cycle can get a little like a small airplane starting his engine (if you're standing next to it). I could NOT hear it upstairs. I can also understand how some are saying it is not a second floor machine, I bet it would make the house fell like the walls are caving in!

Not as happy as I should be,

"I bought this washer a year ago. I have had two major problems with it. The first is that it will leak about 50% of the time from the bottom of the door. I have to keep a towel underneath the door area to catch the water. You may ask why I don't get it repaired. That brings me to my second major problem. I have contacted LG, Home Depot and the authorized repair people. I can not get the repair people to call back and the washer is now no longer under warranty. How sad that I paid all that money for a high grade washer and have something minor turn into a major issue. I probably won't buy an LG again. Customer service is a major issue for me."

Love this Washer!,

"After months of looking and wishing, we bought this washer (and matching dryer) during the appliance sell, so we got a great price on them both. This washer has so many extras and is very easy to use. I have to admit, I was a bit intimidated by all of the electrical controls, but they're actually very informative and also user friendly. LG is highly rated by all, including us. This is a great buy - you won't be disappointed."
