Sharp Design, Very good dishwasher, poor manual,
January 24, 2008
"Dishwasher arrived in excellent condition. I did a self-install which was very simple. Unit has plenty of room on the inside and a beautiful stainless steel tub. Performs well. Cleans everything beautifully. Product manual is poorly written and does a terrible job of explaining anything. It is more of a generic manual, not specific to this model. It does not explain about the use of the steam function nor does it tell you that after a load is washed, a small amount of clean water is sprayed into the bottom of the dishwasher as this is required because of the technology used with the washer. I had to find this out over the internet. The unit was initially making a loud grinding type noise when it started. It was sporadic and didn't last long but was annoying. After several uses, this has not re-occurred. Also, keep in mind the depth of the unit. This unit will not recess in a standard depth countertop. At best, you may get it to be flush with the top. Again, the manual does not address this but another internet search revealed that with a hidden control unit, it can be installed slightly (1/8" to 1/4") beyond the countertop and looks quite good. Bottom line: A very good dishwasher, modern design but Maytag needs to get serious with their installation and use manuals. Also, for $89, get the 4 year extended warranty (5 year total). How can you go wrong for peace of mind at under $23/month?"
