The GE Profile Spacemaker XL 1.8 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave in Stainless Steel features a built-in sensor in the upper microwave that automatically calculates and adjusts cooking times and power levels. This powerful microwave has a spacious 1.8 cu. ft. capacity and 2 removable oven racks that make room for up to six plates or three 9 in. x 13 in. casserole dishes. The microwave's 4-speed, 300 CFM venting system with boost quickly removes smoke and steam from the cooktop to help you maintain a fresh kitchen environment.

Poor grill assembly breaks twice in a year

The microwave and the vent functions work great. The issue is with the grill assembly. The way it is designed the grill opens/closes when the microwave and vent are used. Imagine the number of times this thing will open and close in a day. Mine broke 6 months after regular use. The plastic case that holds the grill together broke into pieces and one day the whole thing fell over our cooktop. Luckily the cooktop was not badly damaged - just some scratches. Since it's under warranty we got a replacement after 2-3 months wait for backorder parts. 4 months later it broke again - same issue. And this happenned a week after 1 year warranty expired.
So, in the end it's about the poor design or poor quality of the materials. With moving parts like this it has to be very sturdy. I'm quite disappointed in this product. Not to mention the replacement grill costs ~$150. I would not recommend this microwave. Spend a little more and look for something with better design.

This was a simple install. It fit & works perfectly. Works much better than our 10 year old magic chef micro. No cold spots & twice as fast!

I bought this microwave to replace a white GE profile one that worked fine. We converted our kitchen to stainless and this was the last appliance I was holding out on. It's just a microwave...but once I did I wish I had earlier. It looks great. Big enough for a small turkey without looking to overpowering.
Much more powerful than the convection microwave. Me likey.

We purchased this microwave to match our other GE Profile appliances. My husband used it first to make popcorn....he used the popcorn button....his comment....I Love this microwave, this is the best popcorn I've ever had from a microwave. Every kernel popped. The microwave has many options for cooking/thawing/defrosting/specific items etc. Also has 2 shelves in it, but we seldome use those. Overall a great product for a low price and contemporary look.

This item closely matches our new appliances and is so easy to operate. Very user friendly.
Don't understand why vent opens (during operation) when the fan is vented outside.
Just a great product.

I recently purchased this microwave(3 weeks) and as of monday 3/15 I will have had it serviced twice. The venting system which opens and closes during use continues to do so after the cooking cycle is complete. We have to unplug it to stop it. I am soooo disappointed as it perfectly matches my new stove .

We upgraded from a 5 year old GE profile to this newer model. It is bigger and cooks very fast. Still getting used to all the different ways to heat everything but all has been very accurate. It lookes nice from the front because there is no air grill to clean on the top. The panel automaticaly tilts forward when cooking and then tips back closed when done. The light for over the stove is very bright when on high, which I love. The option for the timer is a nice feature. Enjoy

What can you really say, it's a microwave, it either works or it doesn't right? :) The turntable is recessed which is kind of nice. The vent opens and closes which tends to impress the men. I have 2 small gripes. We had the $200 GE microwave and the buttons were very easy to push but this one seems to have a smaller area to push, it takes a little getting used to. My other gripe is I know stainless takes some upkeep but the actual glass seems to streak no matter what you use to clean it. Maybe we'll have to go microfiber on it to get it spotless. My husband has one gripe. He said when cleaning the stainless that the steel part kind of "pops" under the surface as though its tacked on with 2 sided tape. But as far as working order, everything is good.

We bought this microwave hood as part of major kitchen remodel. I bought it because it matche the oven we purchased, but have really been impressed by it's functioning. It has shortcut buttons that allow the micorwave to start with just one touch. It is simple to operate and works efficiently. Love it.
