This Charbroil "infrared" cooking is not impressive just average at best.(hype) All three valves broke in 1 year!! So plan on spending $80 each year on new valve assy. Also during normal cleaning most of the front panel text & graphics rubbed off and are unreadable.

I have had this grill for at least four years now. When I bought it at HD it was hyped to have "Infrared" technology. I think this is just the fact that between the grill and the flame, there is a half-barrel shape metal barrier, like a smoker. So you do not get direct flame on the meat, it heats up this barrel shape and convects heat that way. However, it does get insanely hot (just singed some hair last night!) and cooks very evenly with much less flareup than all my previous models. Has a heavy duty cast grill, sweet. Plus no grease trap buildup to deal with. If you try to grill a large amount of very fatty meat - think untrimmed chicken thighs - it will flareup because there's no place for all the fat to drip to, but that is an extreme. I would buy this grill again. The only "con" vs. all these pros is that after four years in the harsh Chicago winter with no cover, some of the chrome plate is coming off the handle. The rest of the grill looks great, it cooks great, I am happy.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We bought this BBQ for Fathers Day nearly 4 or 5 years ago. The first year the BBQ was in the HomeDepot Store. As the person who cleans the grill -this is hands down the best every made. EASY. The grease is burned up versus caught in a grease trap creating another problem-emptying with out spilling.
This is like an oven outside in design. We grill steaks, chicken, fish, shrimp, Vegies and routierse Chicken, ribs, turkey -perfect every time.
The problems we have had were as other indicate-all the instructions on the outside during general cleaning come off. Charbroil sent us replacements at no cost the first time -now we just know where the settings are. The first one had a painted inside cover which, during our first winter of BBQ, flaked. Charbroil replaced it with a the current stainless liner they now incorporate in their design.
We would like to have two storage areas for the gas as we BBQ year round in KS. We just pull it closer to the patio door on the coldest of winter days. It is the best quality BBQ we have had as far as frame, rollers, etc and the support from Charbroil is EXCELLENT. Not often seen in today's manufacturing out of China. The temperature gauge did go out this past fall. Now we just set a timer to allow enough preheat.
We too have replaced the liners just once and they are not expensive. The grills are the original. The second set, we did the recommended "Pretreat" with oil. One of the guys at Home depot says he replaces the drip pans annually which we have not found necessary. We do not have the one with the gas sensor which is handy as when you start a slow cooking process.
We did buy a griddle and do bacon in the AM on the side burner in the summer for salads and for breakfast. Love bacon hate the smell in the house. we have made pancakes out there once or twice too.
WISHES: more storage.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this grill in the summer of 2010. It was a bit of a pain to put together and isn't the highest quality contruction. However it cooks better than any grill I've ever had. We were blown away by how good everthing came out.
Then the love affair ended. The dreaded problem of the temp not getting over 350 started. I went back and did all the things recommended to solve this problem. After several tries it started heating to 650+ like a champ. That lasted for about a week. Try as hard as I might the problem wouldn't go away. I even tried different tanks of propane and new regulators. When turned on I could smell propane so I sprayed soupy water on all the connections I could see. No leaks. Could still smell propane and check for leaks several more times to no avail.
I finally called CharBroil and explained everything I had tried. After a bit of "discussion" they agreed to send me a new valve assembly but wanted to make me pay for shipping. After I pitched a fit about why should I pay shipping for a brand new grill part that was defective they waived the shipping charge and sent it. Swapping out the valve assembly took a couple hours, skinned knuckles, and may newly invent curse words. Fired it up and it worked great! At least for the first five times and then back to the not heating problem. By that time winter was on us and the problem was forgotten. Spring finally came to New England about two weeks ago. I went out to test out the grill hoping it had somehow repaired itself over the winter. Of course it hadn't. Due to health problems I haven't been able to attemp another fix but am not hopeful.
Basically I'm left with a large heavy metal yard sculpture.

I purchased this grill (model #463250108) in 2008 same design as this but over 200 lbs, a little larger dimensions and the primary burner BTU's ~ 35,400. I keep the grill covered when not in use. I give it 3 stars because of the following...Some of the art work on the front of the grill is fading. No rust on the grill but some pitting on the door handles. The heat plate/trough should be cleaned after cooking. Last year I removed the rust from the heat plate/trough and I used heat resistant spray paint to cover the bare metal. I have to replace the left steel heat plate/trough (most heavily used) that holds the cooking grate. It has several holes on the bottom. Also the heat plate/trough on the right has some rust, no holes but will have to be replaced. A grill that cooks great but has some flaws.

I ordered this grill on line and received it in 5 days. A Home Depot employee came to my house free of charge to assemble it. THANK YOU! I have used the grill three times and so far it works great. No flare ups just like they advertise and clean up is a snap! It is my first time with an infrared grill and I have found it to cook food just as well as a traditional grill. This grill looks good, feels good and heats to a very high temperature. The reason I gave the grill four stars and not five is for a couple of reasons. First, I think having spent a good sum of money on a grill, it should have a gauge for the propane tank letting me know how much gas is left. This does not. Secondly, the directions say there is no need to season the porcelain cast iron grates but I have found food sticking to the grates. I will go back and season the grates to try to decrease the amount of sticking. Overall, I do recommend this grill.

Purchased 4-1-10
Over the years I've grown tired of having to replace my grills after a season or two because of rust, uneven heating, or malfunctioning burners. I then upgraded to a Char-Broil stainless steel professional model which saw me through 8 years. After seeing this Infrared grill in the HD stores and their online site, I decided to retire that model in order to take the plunge with this Infrared grill. It was delivered nearly completely assesmbled (completed assembly in a snap with the help of a friend) and I was anxious to put it through its paces. I was NOT disappointed!
It handles every type of food you put on it with complete ease without burning, undercooking or the dreaded flare-ups. I can also toss in some mesquite or hickory woodchips on one side to achieve a deep, smokey flavor and not have to worry about setting my deck on fire in the process, if I should turn my back on it for a few minutes. The warming shelf, the excellent side burner and the self-cleaning setting round out the features of this grill like none I've owned before. This Infrared maintains heat evenly at the setting you choose without wavering. The sturdy components and construction insures it will last me a number of years. Over the course of the entire summer last year I was never disappointed in the performance whatsoever, and cleanup was always a snap.
Because I was able to order it online during a selected 10% off purchase day, I was able to snap this beauty up for a very reasonable $550, and it's worth every penny! I'm VERY pleased with this grill, and you will be too!
Yes, I recommend this product.

So Far, best gas grill I ever had-bar none. I really, really like the very few flareups you have, compared to what you usually get with gas grills. Burning your meat while a quick bathroom visit is very disconcerting to say the least..
The heavy construction lid is a big plus..The total engineering-the construction of the burners, the heat output, the small additional "pan" for adding wood chips that can be easily emptied, the design of the dripping "pans" that keep the fire away from the meat, and etc..
It is all good..And the looks--fabulous!!!
No complaints so far, and I doubt there will be any.
Buy this grill!!!

I love this grill. I dont think they sell it anymore at homedepot. I bought the floor model after an extensive search to no avail. I got $100 off the regular price. I love the construction of the grill. Heavy lid, good quality. First time I used it i didnt coat the grates and the food stuck. I bought some pam for grilling and it worked great. The food comes out juicy on the inside and not dried out. I also used a woodchip box. This definitly the best grill out there.

I have had this grill for several weeks know and have grilled on it a number of times with the every inch covered with meat to only a single burger, steak or piece of chicken.
Overall, I am pretty happy. The $600 price seems to be in the mid-range and the quality definitely seems to match many of the higher end grills available. The hood, doors and framing of the grill all seem to be top quality and very sturdy.
I was able to make the switch with the natural conversion kit (oddly not sold online, but easily picked up in the store). It took about 2-3 hours total to assemble the grill while converting along the way.
The heat is even, and can be quite powerful. I have noticed pieces of meat can cook about 20-40% faster, especially when all burners are on and the meat is spread evenly.
Cleanup is a cinch, for the deeper cleans I pull out the grates and the U shaped pans to wipe them down. The stainless area requires a bit more constant love, but this is true for any stainless appliance.
My only complaints are the ignititors don't always light the burners right away, especially the far right "single" burner. And it seems emit a bit more smoke than I would expect. Not sure if this is still the "new grill" residue or the fact I cooked 60 burgers and 30 hot dogs the first time!
This is a winner. Only wish I would have bought it at the beginning of the summer when it was $450!
Yes, I recommend this product.

This Grill is perfect!! I bought this as an early Fathers' Day gift for my Boyfriend in May. I bought it unassembled, so that was the only "con", if you call it one. I watched my bf put it together and it seemed like a pain; but the directions were really good and it only took one hour! We have used it almost every day since and I can say it has paid for it-self. We keep it covered whenever we are not using it and the "Red" Cover fits perfect as well! It has been rained on but no rust..just for the review I had read that stated that. Oh and for the ladies (just because I cook on it more than he) It cleans up easy and like new after every use! I highly recommend this grill! Its beautiful and can cook alot of food at once!

The grill was very easy to set up. There were only a few steps, and the total time from opening the box to lighting the burners was 1.5 hours. It’s not as stable as I’d like, but seems adequate as long as I don’t shake it or lean against it.
Heating has never been a problem: it heats to 700+ degrees in 20 min. I haven’t experienced the problem of the grill not passing 350 deg as some have, which is likely the result of turning on the burners before the tank. (I believe that triggers a safety feature which limits gas flow.) It does run hot, so cooking times are typically shorter than recipes suggest.
Flare-ups do occur, but only with fatty foods (chicken thighs) or too much liquid coating (oil on potatoes). Since I’ve been more vigilant about trimming excess fat, flare-ups have been rare. (But I keep a squirt bottle close just in case.)
I didn’t get the “grilled taste” I expected until throwing in some wood chips. That made a huge difference, and the flavor was fantastic!
Overall, I’m very satisfied.
Yes, I recommend this product.

First, let me say I love this grill. I've been looking for over a year for a new grill to replace my 6th natural gas grill. This grill was the only one I could find in the size I wanted that offered a natural gas conversion kit, which I installed myself, and it was very simple to do. We first got on-line to see what comments others had with this infrared cooking system. Most all were very positive. I've cooked steaks, ribs, chicken, chops and burgers. All came out juicy and excellent tasting. It does cook hot and fast, about 1/2 the time of my old grills. It's not hard at all to figure out at all. It was so easy to use it with Apple wood chips, and it gave the meat an excellent, smoky flavor. Clean up is a breeze.
We bought our RED at a Home Depot in Sandusky, Ohio. The salesmen working were very helpful and knowledgeable about this grill. My final decision was made when they told me that if I didn't like it, bring it back within 30 days for a full refund.
No, I am not an employee or know anyone who works at Home Depot.
Get one, you'll love it too!!
A very satisfied customer.

It arrived mostly assembled. I had to add the side shelves and a few misc. parts. Took less than an hour to unpackage, review the instructions and assemble. During my first use I was multi tasking and forgot about my hot links. On my old grill they would have been burnt to a crisp due to flare ups, but these were only slightly browned and very good and juicy. The amount of heat this unit gave off was amazing, it quickly got to 600 degrees and I had to turn all burners to low to continue cooking (very efficient heat production). Clean up was a snap. A little heat, a little brushing and a wet paper towel to wipe out the "U" heat plate.

I am Disappointed, the stainless is rusting, all the lettering and heat indicators are becomeing unreadable, the cover looks aweful, all the red in the cover has turned grey, one of the side platforms is falling off.
This is not a quality grill, for $600.00 I expcet more.

Bought this grill as the first big purchase for my new home. Grill assembly was easy, and it started without any problems. The grill heats up extremely fast (was at 400 in 3-4 minutes), and cooks fast and keeps the meat tender and juicy. First time I grilled with it I cooked for a family BBQ and made 75 burgers and dogs, cooking took 20 minutes. I would recommend this grill to anyone looking.
