I bought two of these almost a year ago and we love them. I'm a middle-aged woman and easily installed them myself. The lock can store many combinations, so every family member picked their own code and, best of all, no keys to carry! The lock is a little pricey, but so convenient.

Excellent Door lock - Its a must for me!

I love this door lock because you never have to worry about carrying keys around, losing them or having to get keys made. The biggest convenience is not having to dig around in your pocket for the keys and then find the one for that lock and unlock the door, its especially a pain in the dark... but with this electronic lock, you walk right up to your door, type in the 4 digit code, and turn the handle! it even has a button to light up the keys in the dark!! I have had different sytle electronic door locks in the past and this is the best one I've had yet since its so easy to use and to program new codes. Another thing that is very useful for me is when I am away, and family/friends stop by and get to the house before I get back. I dont want my company to sit outside while they wait for me to get home, so I give them the code for my door so they can let themselves in, and then i just simply change the code after. Also you can program temporary codes, which you can set to be only used once, twice, or as many times as you want, and then you can delete them when you want.
What I do is I have 2 different codes, one code is mine that I do not give out to anyone, and the other code is one that I will give out to people and then change after I do. If you have trouble remembering your codes, a good tip is to program it in your phone, for security, name it something other than "front door lock code". Also another good idea is, say for example you are entering your code and you feel like someone is looking to see what your code is, you can enter your secondary code in and even if they see it, it doesnt matter because you can just simply change it at a later time. Also changing the code only takes about 1-2 minutes and is very easy!!!
I even got one for my mother who is totally computer/technology illiterate, and she loves it and she uses it without any trouble!
Also if you have ever bought new door locks because you wanted to change the key, you dont have to do that anymore, all you do is change the code - Saves time and money!!!
If your thinking of getting one and never had one before, I would say, DEFINITELY GET IT, you will love it! It makes entering and exiting your home so much easier, saving a lot of frustration!

This lock is easy to install, simple to use. Somehow it makes life easier. Quality product from a company whose name is synonymous with security.
I had to call Customer Service and they were very patient and helpful. Their website is easy to use, too. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Many people need to have access to my home, so the number of keys they had was always a concern. While shopping at Home Depot for a new deadbolt, I found this model with a keypad. I should have bought one of these a lonog time ago! It is absolutely wonderful. I can now give access to anyone when they need it, and delete the access code when they no longer need to have it. Schlage has always been my choice for locksets of any kind, and Home Depot has been my first choice when I need to buy any home repair or replacement items.

This was the easies lockset to install and change the code. I had a Schlage deadbolt in place already, but it only took 15 minutes to install. Had to adjust the strike plate that's it. It looks fabulous and matches the rest of the lock handle I already had, Very happy to use, looks smart and easy to change code. I highly recommend this product !!

I now have 6 of these total on three different properties and the first two are over three years old never a problem and I have yet to have to replace a battery. They are more secure than a regular deadbolt because of the way the knob spins freely until the code has been entered, Easy to use great for guests or a housekeeper.

As most homes rely on their garage door opener for entry in and out of their homes, we don't use our front door as often as we should and then when we do, we leave it unlocked when we go next door. Now we use the front door every time and don't need to worry if we lose power or need to remember if we need a ksy to get in.

Love it. Easy install since I was replacing another deadbolt. With the way the lock turns I doubt anyone could pick that. I put it on my front door but will buy one for the back now. If you can afford it I'd say go for it.

I used one of these locks at a vacation rental this summer and was very impressed with how well it worked. It was also very convenient not having to use a key to open the lock. When we got home I immediately ordered one for the door I our garage. The quality was very high and what I expected from Schlage. Replaced the existing dead bolt with this in approx 20 min. Took another few minutes to program in the access code. Very happy with it any would recommend to anyone. One note: read the instructions on how to operate with the key. I just assumed you put the key to override the electronics but there is a sequence you must follow.

This happened on the first day of use and applies to the model BE365. My daughter locked the deadbolt by pressing the Schlage button on the keypad and spinning the outside thumbturn(outside knob) extending the deadbolt and locking the door. Or so she thought. When I arrived home I thought I would try to unlock it by just turning the thumbturn without entering my code. To my horror it unlocked!! Thinking this was a fluke I tried to reproduce this and it’s easier than you think. Following the manual, it says to press the Schlage button and rotate the thumbturn to extend the deadbolt. The Schlage button will be flashing during this time and will go out after a few seconds. You will hear a click and the thumbturn will now spin freely, disabling the ability to unlock the deadbolt without entering a code first. BUT... if while the Schlage button is still blinking you GENTLY turn the thumbturn BACK the otherway until you feel resistance, the Schlage button will still go out but the OUTSIDE THUMBTURN WILL STAY ENGAGED ALLOWING YOU TO UNLOCK THE DOOR WITHOUT A CODE hours later! If this seems like an unlikely scenario, my daughter(15) did it on her first try the first day the keypad deadbolt was in use. I called Schlage tech support and they were able to reproduce this problem as well. I was told not to turn the thumbturn back so this won't happen??? When told this happened by accident, all I got was an apology. So there you have it folks, a lock you CAN'T TRUST. I can reproduce this on my lock 3 out of 4 tries. My suggestion is to spin the thumbturn to engage the deadbolt and hold it there until the Schlage light goes out. Then double check that it now spins freely. This is the only way to know for sure the door is secure.

The fact that the electronic unlock only moves the tumbler and not the deadbolt means the battery will last *far* longer, and also means you don't have to spend as much time adjusting the door for a perfectly smooth deadbolt motion.
The ability to light up the number keys for night entry is a nice plus.
And the ability to lock it without having to enter the code since it knows when it is locked/unlocked is also a time saver.
About the only issue I had with this unit is it did not fit the standard holes drilled for my previous shlage deadbolt... The location from edge of door and distance from knob are fine, but you need a bigger diameter hole than standard. I ended up buying a bigger hole cutting attachment that had enough of a thread that I could put my old small hole cutter on the inside and use that as a guide. Without such a sneaky trick (if installing on a door that already had a deadbolt), you'd probably have to fill the space with some wood so you could use the default drill bit guide of a hole cutter.
Other than that little install issue, I think this is the best of the current bunch of electronic deadbolts out there.

I ordered this lock after an incident of the dog locking the dogsitter out of the house while we were on vacation. I have a 12-panel glass front door, so I was limited on size for the replacement lock. The similar lock available in stores is nice, but was way too big, so I decided to give this one a try.
As other reviewers have mentioned, this lock is SUPER EASY to install. The only tool I used was a screwdriver. I installed it in about 20 minutes and it looks great. My husband was very impressed with my handiwork! I would highly recommend this product.

We installed this on an outdoor storage closet at our beach house so no one has to have their keys to get out beach chairs, etc. It was very easy to install and it's easy to use. Excellent product!

We are hoping this lock last longer than the last lock we puchased from Home Depot. The last only had problems a couple of months before one year was up. Home Depot did let us return it to them and we purchased this lock instead. Since it cost more we are hoping it will last longer. So far we are happy with this lock.

This is the second Schlage keypad lock I have purchased for my home. So handy not to worry about forgetting keys or juggling your grocery bags to put a key in the lock. My 7 year old grandson uses it easily too. I installed both of these locks to replace existing ones, and it took me about 20 minutes each to do so, including programming my code. A great lock for your house. (You can also use a key if you desire, and they can be keyed alike easily.) I've also purchased them for my Son and Son-in-law.
